EPISODE FORTY
THEME: Memories brings back memories
MOON STONE FORTRESS
TWO WEEKS LATER
“I can’t believe you have spent two weeks here and this is the one time in like twelves days that I am getting to spend time with you.” Juno commented as she sat on a yoga mat stretching herself.
Jaylen dragged his whole body off the floor while holding onto the pull up pole. Catching his breath, he dropped down from it on one foot.
“I should be the one whining right now. What the hell were you thinking Juno when you chose to be a warrior?! When you could be sitting pretty in one of dad’s companies.” He mused.
Juno chuckled lightly, lifting her legs up behind her back. Jaylen went back to his exercise. The past week and days had passed with no glitch or any sort of argument. Even though Carl was getting weaker as the day went by, they got to spend family time together and he enjoyed every bit of it.
Aside Jayden moving around with a grumpy attitude, nothing else was out of place. Most memorable of the week was him getting closer to Lorelei. He had gotten so used to her. If he wasn’t spending her lunch time with her, they would be on the phone talking for long hours. She makes him feel light and extremely happy. Her beautiful eyes always pulled him in. Even though he had noticed how spoilt she could act most times which wasn’t so surprising since his sister acts just the same.
The only issue he seem to not understand was the distance between himself and Rosalyn. Their conversations was becoming more straining especially times when he ranted about Lorelei. Maybe he bored her out with his consistent repetition. It was just that aside his grandmother and Rosalyn he doesn’t have any other person to share his feelings with.
Juno would have been added to the list if she wasn’t so away almost every time. The last time he had seen her since he returned was when she had welcomed him along with others the day he arrived.
Seeing her this morning heading to the gym to keep out boredom he had tagged along. Even though he had been working on some projects all night.
“You do know there is a need to do what I have to do as a protector of the fortress.” Juno defended as she released her leg from her back where she had kept it for what seem like forever.
Jaylen snorted with his eyes dancing. “You had intentionally tried to run off without checking on me first.” He glared, laying on the ground on his toes and palms for a push up.
Juno laughed as she stood up to lay on his back. Jaylen lifted himself and her off the ground without any hassle.
“I thought you might be asleep or something. You can’t blame me for that.”
“You owe me a nice lunch for doing that. I have missed you so much, Juno.” He admitted amidst groans.
Juno smiled, playing with his hair as he heaved with the weight and strain of the exercise he indulged in. The two of them had grown up to be so close that it annoyed the hell out of Jayden. And Jayden was always angry at everything.
Jaylen was aware of Juno’s first kiss, they ate together, spent most of their free and study time together. They both created an exercise schedule when Juno had insisted on wanting to stay fit. Jaylen had began lifting her on his back while he performs the push up exercise since age thirteen.
Juno had been away on a long vacation with her father when Jaylen had been forced to leave the pack. She was pissed at Jayden and had decided to not talk to him for weeks but they had gotten back to their usual bickering a little later. For years, she had looked out hoping Jaylen would return soon.
Her thought was to go to a culinary school as she had planned with Jaylen. But not having him around only made it uneasy for her to stick around especially since Jayden began his whoring profession since she was sixteen. She decided to join the military force of the Fortress to keep her derailing mind from going totally crazy.
“I can tell you are going back in time.” Jaylen said, holding onto her and skillfully turning on his back with her placed on his chest now.
Juno slapped his chest. “Like you weren’t either.”
Jaylen laughed lightly. “I can’t deny that. And I can’t believe someone as meek as you were then would be an iota warrior. I am so proud of you.” He pulled at her cheek.
“Your absence made me push for it. I thought you would be back after a year but then you never returned.”
“I just had to do so. You know I would never have left you hanging.” He cooed
Raising her brow, Juno rested her hands on his chest. “Your cheekiness is still so evident.”
“I can’t shed the whole skin, can I?”
They both burst out laughing. Pulling her deeper into himself, Jaylen hugged her tightly.
“It’s so nice to have you around.” Juno tried to push away from his hold. “But try not to smooch life out of me please.”
Opening up his hands to let her go and he spread them out on the floor. “Can’t believe I just got rejected.” He said, faking a sniff.
Grabbing her face towel Juno hit Jaylen lightly on the face with it. “You are so dramatic.”
Jaylen laughed as he flipped himself back up on his feet. “You never believe me.”
“You have always been too playful Jaylen, there is no way I am taking you serious.” Juno chuckled as she put her things back in her gym bag.
“Should we go get some food?” Juno asked.
Rubbing at his belly, Jaylen threw his head back and his eyes danced in happiness. “Oh yes please, I could really do with that right now.”
“Say no more my friend, follow my lead.”
Jaylen grabbed on to his gym bag too. “Whatever you say ma’am.” He faked a bow that caused Juno to knock on his head.
Jaylen and Juno laughed as they headed out of the gym towards the car they had brought along.
