EPISODE FORTY TWO
THEME: Lorelei’s feelings
MOON STONE FORTRESS
CRESCENT RESTAURANT
Pulling her hair lightly Jaylen chuckled as he ruffled about five pieces of fries into Juno’s mouth. She hated fries and couldn’t explain the reason behind it exactly. Since they were kids he always took it upon himself to ensure she has a taste of what she is missing. And today was no exception, they had gone out to get more calories after burning some calories. The cycle never ends, and it is laughable.
Juno had ordered a max box of burgers and chicken. One thing Jaylen loves about Juno is her appetite. She loved eating heavy and knows just how to shade it off without it affecting her body.
“I really hate how you make me chug those fries forcefully.” Juno spat. She cleaned her mouth with the back of her palm and she chewed in annoyance.
Jaylen chuckled. “Don’t pretend like you don’t miss me doing that to you. It unheard of that a lady does not like fries. But then…” He gave her a quick once over. “You aren’t much of a lady.”
“Fuck you.” Laughing hard, Juno stretched towards him.
With one swift movement he had her hands stuck between his hand and chest and he pushed into her mouth another set of fries.
“I am so going to fill that belly of yours with so much fries there won’t be any space for that burger.” He laughed heartily.
“Hey brother!” Claire called from afar shortening their play. She walked towards them.
Jaylen looked at her with a smile on his face. He released Juno spreading out his hold and stood up for Claire to hug him. Without hesitating, Claire walked right into his arms inhaling his smell.
Jaylen kissed her hair.. “How are you mama?” He asked.
“I’m good.” Claire responded in a muffled tone.
“Won’t you say hello to Juno?” Jaylen asked her after she leaned away from the embrace but made no attempt to acknowledge Juno.
Juno put her weight on one leg before sitting back. She was feeling a bit uncomfortable. She has a good relationship with the Damien’s except for Claire. Claire had been in a form of competition with her ever since she clocked five and could tell between being loved and paid attention to. It was obvious they both were in a silent form of rivalry, even though only Claire stood in the feud as she had nothing against her.
There was no way Juno could possibly take away the love the family has for Claire. But it always seems like Claire had refused to see reason and chosen her as the enemy instead.
Reluctantly listening to her brother, Claire looked towards Juno and mumbled a greeting. “Hi.” Almost immediately, her attention was turned back to her brother. “Lorelei is in her car, we were suppose to come here to grab some food and then she saw you and her mood went sore. Probably you have some explanation to do.”
Claire knew she wasn’t suppose to say that or make Jaylen feel like he was on the offensive side. But she couldn’t help the urge to make Juno feel like she was an intruder, which technically she was. Despite Jaylen not defining his relationship with Lorelei yet, she could tell they would be a thing eventually. With her help of course.
Jaylen looked a bit confused. “Mood sore? I didn’t do anything.” He argued innocently.
“If you really like her it would be best for you to sort it out now.” Claire warned as she shared a look with Juno who just simply looked away. She beckoned on to Hermione to come closer.
“Hey there Jaylen.” Hermione waved.
Smiling back at her, Jaylen waved too before looking around to find Lorelei. She wasn’t anywhere in sight.
“See you later.” Claire waved goodbye at her brother before walking away with Hermione. “We should place an order.”
“Is everything alright?” Juno queried looking a bit worried.
Jaylen reached out to pat her shoulder. “You shouldn’t worry about that. Can you please drop my package at home? I would get back to them later. I need to attend to something real quick.”
“Yeah. Sure.” Juno nodded repeatedly.
Jaylen stood up from the spot, kissed her in a hurry on the cheek before he jogged his way out of the restaurant and towards Lorelei’s car.
“Hey there.” Jaylen muttered. He made an attempt to caress her cheek with his thumb but Lorelei threw her head back and pushed away his hand.
“What’s wrong? Claire said your mood was ruined or something. It has nothing to do with me right?” His question was more like an affirmative statement.
Lorelei stared at him unsure of what she was suppose to say to him, considering the fact that she had no reason to be angry in the first place. They weren’t dating but there has been some solid connection that she feels is worthy enough to be respected. Not like she was going to express it that way though.
“Say something Lorelei.” He muttered, perplexed on what exactly was going on. Her anger was too obvious, and it was telling on him. They had spoken well on phone and they couldn’t have possibly been on wrong terms with each other within few hours.
“You know what? Forget it.” Lorelei spat bitterly as she got into the car. She ignited the car and drove off in annoyance blowing out dusty air on his face.
Jaylen stared in shock. He looked back to find a not bothered Claire and Hermione. It was obvious she threw her weight around at every chance she gets.
“What just happened?” He queried, his face giving off a whole vibe of confused emotions.
“You just shot yourself in the leg.” Claire made a singsong voice before going back inside with Hermione.
“I could really wring your neck right now.” He said to her.
Looking towards the spot Juno was standing, he gulped hard when he noticed her leaning by the car and hitting her feet against the grass. She had stepped out not too long ago.
Jaylen walked towards her and he held her hands. “I’m so sorry Juno.”
Rather than being angry, Juno had an amused look on her face. “You didn’t tell me you were smitten by the Beta’s daughter?” She teased.
Jaylen shook his head and he laughed. “Being a man is really hard, hun.”
“Tell me something I do not know.”
“That you have never told me about having a boyfriend.” He raised a brow with his nose expanding.
“I hate you.” She laughed and slapped his chest gently.
“I’m so sorry our intended lunch has gone soggy.”
Juno eyes widened. “Maybe yours, not mine.”
“Did you eat without me Juno?”
“Trust me to not wait.” She winked.
Jaylen made a face. “I feel so hurt right now. To think that I went all the way out to fight for you.”
Juno laughed. “Speak for yourself, mister.”
Jaylen laughed along as he pulled her to himself. “I intend to spend the whole day with you.”
“Why are you intending to string along so bad?”
“Please shut the hell up.” He laughed, releasing her from his hold.
They both got into the car still throwing taunts at each other.
