CHAPTER 58
GRAND HALL….
Emma was seated at her seat in her grand study room as she went through some documents regarding the recent ongoing stuffs in the Packs.
“Greetings, Milady” Alpha Grant uttered as he walked into the study room.
“How may I help you, Alpha Grant?” Emma asked without even looking at him.
“Can you give me tips on how you convinced the mayor to sign a contract with Grey pack?” Grant asked and Emma raised her face up.
“That was like ages ago and I did nothing particularly to make him agree. If you wish to make shred pack a better place then you have to work for it. Stop looking for shortcuts to achieve that goal” Emma said seriously.
“Just because you’ve been crowned the true Alpha doesn’t give you the right to speak to me that way. I was ruling before you came into leadership so show me some respect” Alpha Grant yelled.
“You show me some respect as well. Just because I’m the true Alpha and I only got here, doesn’t give you the right to sound so ridiculous in front of me. If you wish to get some respect from me then act like a sensible leader. For the past eighteen years, I can’t believe you still haven’t signed any contract with the mayor town. Do you wish to keep on dwelling with ancient times” Emma said seriously and Jackson joined them in the room along with Alpha Liam.
“How are we supposed to move to the recent times if the only pack, the mayor town supplies technological stuffs is the Grey pack. You’re of more advantage than other packs. When Grey pack gets all the technological stuffs, they trade it in a double price. The Grey pack is getting more wealthier and other packs don’t have any choice but to dwell on grey pack for resources” Grant complained with a frown.
Emma looked at Jackson and Liam and the expression on their faces told they agreed on Grant’s words.
“Alpha Devon worked his way up there so don’t sound like he stopped any of you from achieving all that. He’s busy going to places and meeting with powerful people both werewolves and humans but what about you? You’re all seated waiting for him to make the first move so you can reap off him. Devon is sensible and wise, why can’t you just copy him a bit and stop whining about. He reached out to the mayor town first and that’s why Grey pack is the most modern pack so far. Have you tried to doing that?” Emma asked and Grant scoffed.
“You think I haven’t tried that. We all have tried reaching out to the mayor but he’s not bulging. Since you’re the true Alpha right now, how about you try talking to him on the behalf of all the packs” Grant said seriously.
So this is where you’re trying to get with this. You’re planning on using me to get what you want. Emma said in her head and smirked.
“I can’t do that for you. I’m the true Alpha but I can’t help you solve all of your problems. If you can’t handle this own your own then I can’t help you. Stepping in a situation like this, isn’t my duty so don’t try to force me into doing anything like this because it will never work” Emma said coldly.
“You’re only saying this because you don’t want other packs to get up to Grey Pack’s level. You’re choosing favourites because Grey pack belongs to your husband. You don’t want anyone to beat him in anything. You’re the true Alpha, you’re not to show favorism to anyone” Grant said seriously.
“Alpha Grant, you’re crossing the line. Before anything, she’s still the Luna of Grey pack so what exactly are you trying to pull with this? Just because you’re crippled doesn’t give you the right to be lazy. If you’re inferior of Alpha Devon then work as hard as he does so you can get to his position. Stop whining already” Alpha Liam said and Jackson nodded.
“Oh shut your trap… When I’m talking, stay out of my business. You only got to become the alpha of black wolf because your father passed it on to you so be quiet. You don’t have any rights to talk back at me” Alpha Grant said seriously.
“What’s that supposed to mean? If inheriting the alpha position from my father makes me worthless then you’re no better so shut the crap and give some respect to Milady” Alpha Liam said seriously and Grant clenched his fist angrily.
“Don’t push it, Liam” Grant said angrily as he glared at alpha Liam.
“Alpha Jackson, you’ve been quiet the whole time, don’t you have anything to add to the conversation. I don’t this conversation is going anywhere because Alpha Grant is finding it so hard to understand my intentions” Emma said and Jackson walked forward.
“Alpha Grant is wrong for asking you to do something, we can do ourselves. It’s not your duty to speak to the mayor on our behalf but I noticed something years back. The mayor town refused to sign any contracts with any other Packs. They said, they can only seal a deal with one pack and they did already with Grey pack. So making a deal with them is a waste of time. They stick to loyalty and that’s a fact” Jackson said calmly.
“Exactly what I was trying to say” Grant yelled.
“We wouldn’t have broken into an argument if you had explained it like this and I don’t blame the mayor for sticking with just one pack. After all, werewolves can be dangerous and they are way more powerful than normal humans. You might all just end up bringing harm to him if he signs a contract with all the packs. It’s way too risky for him” Emma said.
“What are we supposed to do? Depend on alpha Devon for the rest of our lives?” Grant uttered sarcastically.
“Yes, that’s all you can do. After all, you’ve practically being doing that so what’s wrong if you continue doing that” Emma said coldly.
“Milady, how about we come up with a way to satisfy everyone. I noticed Grey pack, have trained and civilized werewolf contractors who learnt from the humans. They’ve been making mass constructions and productions for Grey pack. How about we hire the workers and pay to grey pack directly? That way, we can all get modernized building constructions” Alpha Liam suggested.
Emma looked at him as she put some thoughts into it.
“Alpha Liam’s idea isn’t bad either. That was a brilliant idea” Jackson cut in swiftly and Grant scoffed.
“Alpha Devon is way too selfish to be reasoned with. You think he will agree to it just because Luna Emma says so. Dream on, coming up with a stupid idea like that must have done something to your brain. You should try thinking again” Grant scoffed.
“I also find Alpha Liam’s idea brilliant. It’s way better than speaking to the mayor on your behalf. We can set up a meeting with alpha Devon and discuss this. Alpha Devon is a business tycoon, he won’t just throw away an opportunity like this to make it big” Emma said calmly.
“Just because Alpha Devon will be making profits out of this and that’s why you agreed to it immediately” Grant cut in and Emma glared at him.
“Can someone give Alpha Devon a call” Emma requested and Liam brought out his phone.
“I will do that” He said and walked to the side.
“Sire, what are you up to?” Liam asked over the phone.
“Nothing really, just going through some documents. What happened? It’s so unlike you to call out of the blue if it isn’t about business. Aren’t you supposed to be in a meeting with Emma?” Alpha Devon asked over the phone and Liam walked backwards.
Alpha Liam looked around to see if anyone was watching them and he sighted a guard from afar, watching the study room.
“You planted a spy here?” Liam asked almost in a whisper and Devon smirked.
“I can’t always be there so at least I should have someone watch over my Luna. Can’t get any bad. What’s the call for? Did Emma ask you to? What does she want this time around? She can’t stop requesting for things” Devon groaned and Liam smiled.
“Can you please rush down to the grand hall right now? We’ve got lots of important stuffs to discuss about” Liam informed.
“I will politely reject it because it’s coming from you. I can’t rush down there. I have no business with anyone over there and I don’t think I have anything to discuss with anyone” Devon said defiantly.
“Well, you sound quite impossible to be convinced otherwise”
“If she has anything to say to me, she should come down to grey pack herself. I’m not moving an inch, relate that to her” Devon said coldly.
“Alright, I will hang up now” Liam said and hung up.
“What did he say?” Emma asked curiously and Liam walked back to them.
“He said, he doesn’t want to come over. He said if we have anything to talk about, we should head to Grey pack instead” Liam related.
“What! Devon can’t get anymore annoying” Grant yelled with a frown.
“He has quite an annoying attitude. How dare him turn down the request of the true Alpha? He’s looking down on all of us” Jackson said seriously.
“I think you will have to go to Grey pack without me. I’m not driving down there. If he can’t come here then I’m not going either” Emma said seriously as her eyes went back on what she was doing.
“This isn’t the time to be prideful. We’re the ones making a request so we should compromise and you said you liked alpha Liam’s idea so you have to see to the end of it” Alpha Grant said seriously.
“If I don’t act this way then Alpha Devon wouldn’t give me the respect I deserve for my position. I’m not desperate so I’m not going no where” Emma said defiantly.
“They’re definitely a couple” Liam mumbled with a smile.
“If no one’s going then I will have it head back to my pack. After all is a three hours drive from here” Liam cut in, Grant and Jackson glared at him.
“Have a safe drive, Alpha Liam” Emma said politely.
“How you just leave like that, just like a loser. We still haven’t completed our conversation and you brought up this idea, you should stick to it till the very end so you can’t leave just like that” Grant said seriously.
“You can’t force me to stay if you aren’t ready to bug. I’ve got lots of things to take care of” Liam said seriously.
“Can it be more important than the future of your pack?” Grant yelled and Liam glared at him angrily.
“I will go instead so save it” Jackson cut in and he left the study room.
“Is he safe? I think he’s the last person, alpha Devon wants to see right now” Emma mumbled.
“I think we should go with him and there’s no way, alpha Devon will listen to him” Liam said.
“He offered to go so leave it to him” Grant said and left the room as well.
******
GREY PACK…..
Alpha Jackson drove down to Grey pack.
He was seated at the meeting room already when Devon joined him.
“She couldn’t send anyone else but you? What does that make you? A pushover or a messenger” Devon mocked and Jackson clenched his fist, trying so hard not to lose his cool.
“I didn’t come all the way here just to receive insults from you”
“You must be quite desperate. What’s this visit all about? I’m beginning to get curious” Devon said with a blank expression.
Jackson exhaled slowly and then he explained everything to Devon.
“And why do you think I will agree to that?” Devon asked.
“It’s a request from Luna Emma”
“I don’t care. If she wishes to make a request then she should come down to Grey pack herself along with the rest of the alphas and let’s talk business because nothing you say to me matter. It’s all worthless, you’re just a messenger” Alpha Devon said coldly.
