CHAPTER 59
“Watch your language, Devon. You’ve crossed the line” Alpha Jackson fired as he couldn’t take it anymore.
“You crossed the line already for thinking you can come here and say this to me and I will listen and give you a reasonable response. If you don’t get yourself out of my business with Emma then you have no idea what’s coming your way and go relate my message to Emma. I’m not giving you any listening ears till she shows up here. I’m not desperate so when she changes her mind, she knows where to find me” Alpha Devon said seriously.
“You’re so full of yourself. You know your way around here but how come you have no idea what happened to your dead son” Alpha Jackson said seriously and Devon looked at him with curiosity written all over his eyes.
“What the hell are you spouting? Do you have any idea what you’re brushing up on? Don’t vex me” Alpha Devon said coldly and Jackson scoffed as he stood up.
“I also don’t care. I’m not desperate either because I will end up getting what I want and I will see to the end of it. You can’t force me to get Emma down here. You can’t be the only one calling the shots. I will get you on your knees someday and you will regret looking down on me today. You also have no idea what I’ve got in store for you” Jackson said with a vicious smile.
“Are you threatening me because it doesn’t sound like a threat to me? You can only use my weakness against me once but I won’t let it repeat itself. That thing you said about my late son, you will have to say that to me someday when I’m ready to rip your heart out” Alpha Devon said coldly and Jackson smiled then left the meeting room.
Immediately he left the meeting room, he walked pasted Kent and he stopped.
“What do you want?” Kent asked rudely as he noticed Jackson stopped walking.
“Friendly advice. I think you should talk some sense into your alpha, he needs to think things through before he speaks. He might regret all of it someday and I might end up making that happen for sure” Jackson said with s smile and Kent rolled his eyes.
“Oh, don’t give me that crap and find your way out of that door,” Kent said sarcastically then walked away.
Kent went into the meeting room.
“Did something happen between you and Jackson?” Kent asked curiously.
“Did he say anything to you?”
“He was spurting rubbish earlier. Why is he here? It’s been a while since he visited” Kent said.
“He came on behave of Emma. But he said something suspicious, why do you think someone like him will know of my late son’s death? Do you see any connection there?” Devon asked curiously as he placed his hands on his waist.
“There he goes again, saying ridiculous things just to get all the attention on him. How on earth will he even know anything about that when we don’t? I’m hoping you don’t let anything he said bug you but come to think of it, it’s all suspicious. Why would he say that now? If he knew nothing, he wouldn’t bluff like that. Is this his reason for coming back into the grand hall? He has always lied low so generally, I think he has something under his sleeve” Kent uttered.
“I need you to do a background check on him. I need to know about everything concerning Jackson. I guess I’ve turned a blind eye for too long. He might be my enemy but he might end up being my worst enemy. I can’t take chances” Alpha Devon said gazing at a space.
“I will get to it but before I leave, I have a report regarding Basil’s stay in crust pack,” Kent said and Devon looked at him.
“Yes”
“Basil and Abe were attacked when they were at the field and something even more surprising happened. After Basil killed one of the enemies, the rest of them retreated and that’s even more suspicious” Kent reported.
“It’s obvious, it’s a set-up. Someone set them up, at least Basil and Abe would never disappoint me on something like this. I knew their stay in the crust pack wouldn’t be a quiet one not when the Alpha there is Jackson. One hell of an annoying fellow” Devon said seriously.
“Should I send out more guards to protect them in secret, just in case he plans something big” Kent suggested.
“I don’t think that would be necessary. They can protect themselves and sending out guards to protect them will be objecting to their purpose for going there. Let’s watch and see how Basil takes care of the warriors and what kind of examples he sets for them” Devon said.
“Yes, sire,” Kent said with a nod.

The crust pack…
Ambrose is in his inner chambers where he’s putting on his clothes after he has freshened up.
Silvia ran into the inner chambers after deceiving the guards outside his chambers.
“What’s this place?” Silvia questioned as she looked around the room.
Ambrose’s eyes went wide open in shock on seeing her. He quickly tried to put on his shirt but couldn’t because it fell from his hand.
“What are you doing in here?” Ambrose yelled.
“Relax, why do you have an inner bedroom? Are you that scared for anyone to see your bare body? What are you so scared of?” Silvia teased as came, even closer to him.
Ambrose tried to cover his chest with his arms as he avoided having eye contact with Silvia. But her eyes caught with the scar on his chest.
“What’s that? It looks deep” Silvia said as she tried to touch his body but Ambrose moved away.
“What gave you the right to touch me? Have some decency left, don’t you know the meaning of privacy and self-respect? After all the things I said to you out there, what are you still doing here? Have some shame and leave” Ambrose yelled as he backed her then put on his shirt.
Silvia fakes a cry and sat down on the floor.
“You’re being too dramatic. If you’re done, you should find your way out” Ambrose said and walked out of the inner room.
Silvia followed suit.
“Ambrose, are you always this hard with words? Why do you always say hurtful things? You told me you agreed to be my friend the other day so why are you acting this way today” Silvia asked.
“What are you saying? I never said I wanted to be friends with you. Can you stop insinuating things and just leave? I might end up, throwing you out myself if you keep on messing with me” Ambrose forewarned.
“Oh no, I’m so scared. What’s that scar on your chest? That must hurt a lot for you to be quite protective over hiding it” Silvia said calmly and Ambrose looked away, as Silvia’s words almost got to him.
“You know nothing about me. Stop saying things like that, it’s not working on me” Ambrose said seriously.
“I only said what I felt. I’m not forcing you to understand or reason with what I said to you. Why do you have such a scar? Please can you share it with me” Silvia persisted and Ambrose rolled his eyes?
“Don’t even think about it. There’s no way I’m telling you about myself or anything concerning me because you’re not my friend and I don’t plan on making you one either so can you just get lost? I’m not in the mood for this” Ambrose said seriously then Silvia frowned.
“I will be back,” Silvia said with a smile as she walked to the door.
Ambrose fixed his eyes on his phone and he didn’t realize when Silvia ran back and kissed him on his cheeks.
“Bye, Ambrose and I’m sorry for invading your privacy,” Silvia said with a bright smile and she ran out of the chambers.
Ambrose held his cheeks with his palm, still in shock at what Silvia did.
“Did she just kis…. s me” He stuttered as he blushed hard without even realising it.
Silvia walked back to the guesthouse where Basil and Abe were.
“Phew!” Silvia exhaled tiredly as she fell on the couch.
Abe and Basil stared at her.
“Are you that exhausted? What the hell have you been doing? I don’t think you’re training here so what are you doing?” Basil asked curiously.
“Trust me, you don’t want to know,” Silvia said looking away.
“And why’s that? Larisa also made a statement like that. What’s going on? Why are you being so secretive? Abe, do you have any idea about what she’s doing?” Basil asked and Abe nodded positively.
“Of course, she’s pursuing Ambrose and that’s what she’s been busy with,” Abe said calmly.
“What!” Basil yelled.
Abe and Silvia shrunk in fear.
“What’s that for? Why did you scream like that?” Silvia asked with a frown.
“Why on earth will you pursue someone like him? What do you even see in him? He’s not even that good-looking” Basil said with a little frown.
“I get it that, you don’t like Ambrose but that doesn’t mean he’s not good-looking. Have you seen your father when he was younger? Come on, Basil” Silvia said.
“What brought my father into this? Ambrose is not even close to how good-looking my father is so why the comparison” Basil uttered.
“I don’t know, I just sometimes think Ambrose looks quite a lot like your father. I don’t know if I’m the only one, seeing the resemblance there” Silvia said with a shrug.
“What’s that supposed to mean? He doesn’t look like my father” Basil said defiantly.
“Well, I think I see some sense in Silvia’s words. I also see the resemblance there but since he’s the son of an enemy, I dare not voice it out” Abe said calmly.
“The both of you are seeing things. Drop it already and Silvia you’re only seeing things because you’re hovering over him like breakfast. You need to get yourself together and stop pursuing someone like him, you can do better” Basil said with a grimace.
“We should head outside and have a look at what drama will be unfolding tonight. It can’t get any worse” Abe cut in.
“Exactly. Pursuing Ambrose is one hell of a drama. He’s so hardheaded, words don’t get to him. I think he doesn’t have a heart. Wait a minute, I even saw something strange today” Silvia said and they all turned to her.
“What did you see?” Abe asked.
“Ambrose has quite a deep scar on his chest and he has an inner bedroom where he changes clothes and that’s the weirdest part of it. He has a bedroom already, what does he need an inner room for? It’s suspicious” Silvia said.
“How come you know so much already, you only arrived today. I thought you like him and that’s why you’re hovering over him? Why would you be suspicious of someone you like? You’re being disloyal. Although, he has always looked suspicious to me” Basil uttered.
“What was the scar like?” Abe asked curiously.
“It looked like, a pierce from a dagger or sharp object. He seemed quite sensitive when I saw the scar. Do you think that’s related to his birth? I heard his mother lost her life the next day after she gave birth to him” Silvia said.
“But I heard a different story. I heard his mother died the day she gave birth to him but it’s all suspicious, how come she died without any trace of symptoms? I think she was murdered” Abe said and Silvia covered her mouth in shock.
“What! And why would you assume such?” Basil asked curiously.
“Because Alpha Jackson only wanted a son to take down his legacy and that’s exactly what she gave him. Why else will he keep her alive on the day Ambrose was born, it was raining in crust pack but the deliverer said he was completely drained in the rain when they saw him in his basket. How did the baby get drained?” Abe said and Basil put serious thoughts into it.
