CHAPTER 50
Emma took a few steps backwards in shock after hearing what Alpha Devon just said.
“What did you just say?” Emma asked in shock.
“You heard me right. If you step foot out of that door, our relationship is over. Don’t push me to do this” Devon said confidently and Emma laughed shortly.
“You’re being too much. Do you hate my decision so much for you to think of such a thing? What do you hate about it exactly? The fact that you agreed I will push through with this or the part I made up my mind to push through with it” Emma said slowly.
“Sire, don’t do this. I know you don’t mean your words. Please don’t make up your mind” Kent said as he joined them.
“Kent, stay out of this. This is between Emma and me so don’t get involved” Devon said seriously.
“Devon, you’ve got just one problem and that’s being overruled by someone else. You’re jealous of my position and you think you’re the only one worthy to be there. Why should it make a difference if I go there instead? You’re just being sentimental and I’m sorry I refuse to understand you. I’ve always tried my best to be the understanding one but I won’t this time around. You should do it instead. It’s your turn to be considerate towards me” Emma said seriously then walked to the door.
Alpha Devon looked away as he clenched his fist.
“I’m hoping to see you at the grand hall. After all, you’re still an alpha so absence isn’t an option for you. I will take your words earlier like I never heard it in the first place” Emma said and walked away.
Kent walked closer to Devon.
“Are you okay?” Kent asked slowly and Devon fixed his eyes on the door.
“How’s Brasil doing? Hope he’s fine?” Devon asked as he turned around to leave for his study room.
“Abe, told me they will be here soon,” Kent said and Devon looked at him.
“And why’s that? Why are they coming together? I clearly said, Brasil shouldn’t come here till I give out orders” Devon said seriously.
“You know how stubborn Basil can be”
“He’s just like his mother. I can’t believe Emma took my words for granted. She has always shown more care and love to Basil so what the hell happened today? It feels like she has completely lost herself for the grand hall position. This is none other than Jackson’s doing. I will crush his bones when he dares crosses my path” Devon said coldly staring at space.
“What’s Jackson’s role in all this? What’s his deal? I think he’s even more excited about this whole drama than Emma herself” Kent said.
“He has been powerless, practically all his life and now he’s trying to get power on his side. I think he has a bigger role to play in all of this but for now, let’s watch him closely. He has something under his sleeve” Devon said and Kent nodded.
“Well, he has no idea what he’s getting into. It’s been a while since I showed them all, what kind of powers I possess” Devon said coldly.
“Obviously, but…” Kent pursed as he saw Basil at the door.
“Basil,” Kent called out and Devon turned around.
“Basil, you’re back,” Devon said with a half smile.
“Father, what’s all this? What’s this whole drama for? You’re nothing like this father. Why are you using cheap tricks that would implicate things? Why are you so against mother’s decision of becoming the true Alpha? It’s not wrong for a mother to try to prove herself and render help to the helpless. Ever since mother’s powers awakened, she hasn’t done anything meaningful or worthy with them. Now she’s trying to make use of her powers to help, can’t you just turn a blind eye to it and let her accomplish this little wish of hers” Basil blurted and Devon laughed.
“Render help? Awakened powers? You say” Devon said and pursed and looked straight up at Basil.
“Well, I’m not surprised you will support your mother but do you know the dangers attached to that position? If she renders help to the helpless, what about her? Do you think she can protect herself? Why do you think all the alphas are eager to put her there? You’re smart enough to figure this out. Don’t be fooled by what you see alone. I love Emma so much and that’s why I’m against it because when she gets enthroned, I have no right to stop her or even support her. That’s the rule of the true Alpha, it’s just not an empty title. You will have to prove your worth. I’m not going against it because I don’t trust Emma but I don’t trust those werewolves who will linger around her when I’m not there”
“You worry too much father. If you’re scared because of the past histories regarding the grand hall and true Alphas then you should rest assured, after all, mother’s going there to make a difference. It might be tough on her but I believe my mother will handle it perfectly” Basil said calmly and Devon smirked.
“Will you be happy if our family falls apart because of this? Will it be worth it?” Devon asked and Basil looked at him in shock.
“What are you saying, father? We don’t have to go to such an extent right” Basil said in a shaky voice.
“I’m an alpha and I aim to get the position of the true Alpha so that means outside the grand hall, your mother and I will become sole enemies. Will you be fine with that? Do you still want her to push through with it?”
“But father, and mother have been confirmed to be the chosen ones. Do you still have to fight to become the true Alpha when your wife is there already” Basil said?
“You will understand it all when you grow up but you should go get ready, we’re leaving for the grand hall,” Devon said with a blank expression on his face.

Grey pack academy…
Ambrose went after the smell and it was far away inside the academy’s backwoods.
Smells dangerous and I don’t have a good feeling about this. What if they are assassins sent to come to harm Grey’s pack? Ambrose questioned in his head.
Someone tapped him from behind and he turned around swiftly as he got ready to attack but to his surprise, it was a young-looking man but not of his age though.
“What do you smell?” The man asked and Ambrose looked at him suspiciously.
“Why do you ask? And what are you doing here all alone?” Ambrose asked looking around.
“I’m not alone. You’re here with me remember” He said and Ambrose wore a blank expression.
“Why do you look so much like him? How come no one told you, you looked so much like him?” The man asked.
“What do you mean? Of course, I look like my father who else. Stop saying nonsense and move out of my way. I’m too busy to listen to you” Ambrose said looking around the man brought out a little bottle from his bag and Ambrose’s eyes went wide open in shock.
“This is exactly what I’m looking for? Why are you carrying something so dangerous around? Who are you and what are you doing in the backwoods acting so suspiciously?” Ambrose asked seriously as his claws grew out.
“Come on, I’m not an enemy here. You seem more like the enemy than I am. I’ve been staying here for ages and no one bothered me but here you are, trying to disrupt things for me. Why do you care if I carry dangerous substances? It’s not like you’re from around here”
“You probably don’t wish to get hurt so spill it out before I end things for you and no one will ever find your carcass. I can be quite brutal when ending things so don’t put yourself through all that trouble” Ambrose threatened.
“You still haven’t answered me. Why do you care? I thought your father trained you to never be attached to anyone so why are you trying to protect grey pack? What’s your motive? This isn’t your pack so you shouldn’t put much interest. Don’t even get me started with words, you might probably end up hating yourself for it” The man said and Ambrose furrowed his eyebrows.
“Who the hell are you? How come you know so much? What are you?” Ambrose asked seriously and he laughed.
“I’m Greg, your great uncle” Elder Greg introduced and Ambrose kept mute for some seconds.
“My father doesn’t have an uncle. And he has never told me about having one. My father has always been alone, he never had an uncle so what are you saying? You’re just bluffing and again even though, you were supposed to be my uncle, you’re too young to be my Great uncle. You’re probably just the same age as my father” Ambrose said.
“Thank you so much for the compliment. I don’t know who your father is but I’m sure about one thing though and you will find it hard to find out the truth. Why are you working so hard when you don’t even like what you’re doing? You should hurry back to the academy, they’re probably waiting for you” Elder Greg said mysteriously and he walked away.
Ambrose’s claw transformed and he lost his strength. He couldn’t stop him from leaving.
I couldn’t even stop him from leaving because he hit me hard with his words. Who is he? Why’s he so mysterious? Ambrose said in his head as he watched Elder Greg walk away.
“You know what? You look so much like your biological father. The features are quite too visible” Elder Greg shouted from far away then disappeared into thin air.
What’s he trying to say? He’s just bluffing. I’ve got zero resemblance to my father. I look nothing like him. Ambrose said in his head.

The grand hall…
Everyone arrived already. Emma got to the entrance and she got out of the car. She exhaled deeply and had a glance at her maid.
“Let’s go,” Emma said confidently and they went in.
Shortly alpha Devon arrived along with Kent and Basil.
“You know exactly whose side you will be on when we get in. But regardless of anything, you should stick with your mother, km pretty sure that’s what she wants to do. I can handle it all, you trust your father right?” Devon asked and Basil nodded.
“I guess I’m just beginning to know what life is all about. It’s still all new to me, I don’t think I can get used to it anytime soon. Father, in my eyes you’re the true Alpha and I believe you will protect mother even from afar because you love her so much. I will head in first, I have to meet up with someone” Basil said and Devon stared at him curiously.
“Well, I will love to ask who you want to meet up with but you’re grown up now, I should respect your privacy,” Devon said and Basil smiled faintly.
“I’m meeting up with my friends. I made friends some friends days ago at the academy” Basil said and Devon smiled awkwardly.
“I told you, I respect your privacy. You don’t have to tell me. Go ahead, don’t waste any more time. Your mother will be giving out her announcement soon” Devon reminded and Basil nodded.
“I will be right back father,” Basil said as he turned around and his gaze landed on Emma when she was having a heart-to-heart conversation with Jackson.
“Since when did they become this close? Who the hell is this?” Basil asked angrily as he clenched his fist and Devon looked at Kent.
Basil used the other door as he tried to avoid crossing paths with Emma.
Emma went in with Jackson but she didn’t notice Devon’s presence.
“I will crush his bones,” Alpha Devon said angrily with anger written in his eyes.
