CHAPTER 49
Larisa moved away from Basil swiftly.
Basil frowned as he looked around.
“Where are you wearing that face? Does this place disgust you so much?” Abe asked and Basil scoffed.
“You still haven’t answered my question. What the hell am I doing here? How did I manage to get here?” Basil asked seriously.
“No need for you to panic Basil. You’re fine” Larisa said slowly and Basil glared at her.
“And again, what are you doing here? Seeing Abe here isn’t surprising but you? And you too Silvia? What’s going on? For how long have I been sleeping?” Basil threw in and Abe held his waist with his two hands.
“Silvia, you should head back to the academy now. I’m pretty sure, your father is waiting to pick you up all ready to leave for the grand hall and you can’t miss out on what we said. We will see each at the grand hall” Abe said and Silvia nodded with a smile.
“Got it. See you then. Bye Basil, bye Larisa” Silvia said and left the room but then returned immediately.
“How do I leave?” Silvia asked with a silly smile.
Abe held his head frustratedly.
“The academy isn’t far from here. You will get there in no time” Abe said and Silvia ran out quickly.
“Wait a minute, is this great uncle Greg’s residence?” Basil asked as he widened his eyes and he stood up from the bed and ran to the window.
“It is,” Abe said in a low tone.
Basil walked back to Abe with a frown.
“Abe, what the hell were you thinking? Is this the reason you wanted me to leave the pack house with you? I have no idea what your intentions are or what’s behind this whole drama but have you thought of the consequences of your actions? The whole pack house must have been turned upside down in search of me. I’ve never left without notifying anyone. Mother and father will be so worried right now. What were you thinking?” Basil asked seriously.
“You think I don’t know that but I’m taking the orders of the alpha. He gave out orders for me to do this” Abe said coldly.
“Oh, don’t give me that crap. Father will never do anything this shabby so don’t even try to cook up stories. You don’t do that so don’t start it now” Basil said with a frown and Larisa walked in between them.
“Basil, don’t get the wrong idea but it was all the alpha’s idea and Abe is only carrying out your father’s orders. It might sound ridiculous that your father will do something like this but trust me, he knows of this and we have no idea why he gave Abe such orders but you know your father right, he will never do anything that will bring harm to you” Larisa explained calmly and Basil’s eyes landed on her lips.
Basil suddenly had a flash of what he did last night.
“What happened last night? I mean between us” Basil asked looking away and Abe smirked.
“Quite a retentive memory for my liking but is that important right now? Don’t you wish to find out what your parents are doing right now?” Abe asked and Larisa walked away from their midst.
“Is there anything to find out? Larisa explained already that her father planned all this. Do I still have to inquire more about it when it’s obvious already? And I’m only trying to make the situation right now not awkward and that’s why I’m trying to clear the air up with Larisa so stay out of it” Basil said and moved away from Abe.
Abe smirked and shook his head as he sat on a couch.
Larisa blushed as she tried so hard to avoid Basil’s gaze.
“I did nothing harmful to you right?” Basil asked slowly.
“What harm can you possibly bring to me? It’s nothing you should worry yourself about. Nothing happened, don’t let it bother you” Larisa said with a half smile.
Basil looked at Abe with a curious look.
“What? You said I should stay out of your business and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I have no idea what happened either. And again, I have to rush off to the pack house and see how things are going. You should stay put with Larisa. She will keep you company while I’m away” Abe said and stood up.
“It’s almost mid-day. Isn’t it time for me to go back? It’s almost time for mother’s announcement” Basil pointed out worriedly and Abe tapped his shoulders.
“Do you think you will be safe if you leave for the grand hall today? Why do you think alpha Devon did this? And again, you wouldn’t like the look of things when you go back home so it’s only natural you stay back here with Larisa” Abe said calmly.
“I appreciate that you’re looking out for me but I’m not a kid anymore. If anything is happening in my family, I should be the first to know of that and that’s what I believe is fair to me so take me with you. I get it that you wish to give Larisa and me some alone time but now isn’t the time for that. I’m sorry Larisa, let’s chat some other time” Basil said with a blank expression.
“Now this is why I don’t like it when you’re too smart. You have completely ruined the mood. This is going to get more awkward than before” Abe groaned silently.
“It’s okay, Abe. Basil, wasn’t wrong either. This isn’t the time to chat away when we’ve got lots of things to take care of and I will head back to the academy as well. I’m pretty sure, my father’s waiting to get me as well” Larisa said and walked forward.
She turned around.
“What are you waiting for? Let’s go” Larisa reminded and Abe chuckled.
They both walked to her as they head out of the building.
“And that’s why I had no second thoughts when making friends with you. You’re quite considerate but I find it weird what you see in Basil though. I’m way better than him, don’t you think?” Abe teased and Basil scoffed.
“I don’t think anyone will agree to that, only you,” Basil said jovially and Larisa laughed.

Grey pack academy…
Silvia ran into the academy as she ran towards her room and she bumped into Ambrose, she fell.
“Watch where you are going!” Silvia yelled as she rubbed her forehead.
Ambrose stretch out his hand to help her up and Silvia raised her chin.
Oh no! Is this coincidental or planned? Why did I have to bump into him now? I still haven’t set my mind fully on the goal. Silvia complained in her head.
Silvia was about to take Ambrose’s hand but he walked away from her and rubbed his palm on the back of his head.
“What the hell!” Silvia gasped with a frown and Ambrose gave her a malicious smile.
“Why should I help you up? You should call out for your friend Basil to come to help you out and again, I didn’t bump into you. You did instead so watch where you’re going next time” Ambrose said coldly then walked away.
Silvia glared at him and she stood up, she clenched her fist as she watched him leave.
“So annoying!” Silvia uttered with a frown.
How do I even push through with my mission? My first encounter with him sucks already. How do I go about it? He’s quite an annoying character. Silvia said in her head angrily.
“Wait a minute, he sounded very childish minutes ago. Why the hell did he mention Basil in this little incident? What’s that supposed to mean?” Silvia questioned and a smile appeared on her lips.
She brought out her cell phone from her pocket and then placed a call across to Abe as she head to her room.
Ambrose walked far away from Silvia and ran into a corner and clenched his two fists frustratedly.
What the hell was all that about? Why would I even utter something so ridiculous? Why did I do that? That’s so childish and so unlike me. What the hell was I thinking? I guess bumping into her intentionally wasn’t all. All I needed was to act cool about it but why did I say those words? Ambrose groaned in his head as he kicked the wall feeling so embarrassed he smelled something dangerous from afar and his eyes turned yellow immediately.

Grey pack house…
Emma was done getting ready when Charlotte ran into her room.
“Emma, you’re going to leave for the grand hall?” Charlotte asked curiously and Emma looked at her with cold eyes.
“Do I have to answer that question?” Emma asked coldly as she slowly stood up.
“Basil is still missing. Are you going to just leave like that without finding out of his whereabouts or if he’s safe?” Charlotte asked in disbelief.
“Alpha Devon said Basil isn’t a pub anymore and that he can protect himself against any dangers and he also said, I shouldn’t worry about a thing that Kent will look into it and Basil will be safe. That’s what I’m trying to do, I’m trying my best so I don’t worry so what’s wrong with that” Emma uttered.
“Is this occasion worth it? Is the position of the true Alpha worth it?” Charlotte asked and Emma glared at her.
“It is worth it Charlotte. It is so worth it and doesn’t give me that look, I’ve done nothing wrong. I never asked for this in the first place and don’t look at me like the enemy here. You should look at Devon that way. He’s being hypocritical right now but you know what, I don’t care. He started all this in the first place and it’s too late for me to change my mind. I wouldn’t be doing this if he hadn’t approved of it before I even thought much about it and you know Devon, he always makes the right decisions” Emma said seriously.
“Are you doing this because of what the alpha said or what alpha Jackson said to you?” Charlotte blurted and all the maids around looked at each other in shock.
“Not you too Charlotte. If everyone was against my decisions, you shouldn’t be because you know I only do things for the well-being of everyone. I’m not pushing through with this because of what alpha Jackson said to me so don’t insinuate things. You will only help with the spread of ridiculous rumours” Emma said then walked past Charlotte.
“Are you sure about this? Are you sure you won’t get hurt in the process?” Charlotte asked calmly and Emma turned to her.
“If I end up, getting hurt. I will have to bear it because that’s what it takes to be a leader. I’m ready to take it all” Emma said and left the room, her maids followed.
Charlotte stood in the room tiredly as she failed to talk things through with Emma.
Emma got to the entrance of the pack house when she met Devon.
“Safe you going to do this? Why on earth will you leave when your son is still missing? What the hell got into you, Emma?” Devon yelled and Emma glared at him.
“Don’t pick a fight with me. I’m not in the mood for all that. I’ve gotten an earful from Charlotte so don’t give me the same lectures. I’m running late already so I have to go” Emma said coldly and Devon scoffed.
“I’m not giving you lectures, I’m telling you exactly what a husband and an alpha will tell his wife. I don’t have much to say either, I believe I’ve said everything I needed to say to you so I won’t brush it over again but get one thing straight Emma, If you walk out of that door or step your legs at the grand hall, you should know our marriage has been made void” Alpha Devon said in a heartbeat.
