CHAPTER 51
Basil went to the restroom with a frown and he had flashes of the look that was on Emma’s face when she talked to alpha Jackson.
Mother hasn’t even been enthroned yet and he’s beginning to go pester her already. So shameless! Basil cursed in his head as he stood in a corner of the restroom.
Ambrose walked into the restroom and Basil glared at him.
“You must be so proud, your mother is becoming the next true Alpha female. In history, she’s the second she-wolf to be chosen as the true Alpha” Ambrose said not looking at Basil.
Basil snubbed him.
“I have no idea why you despise me or what your reasons are but you know what, I don’t care. And keep on doing that so it becomes easier for me to beat you on the battlefield without hesitating” Ambrose said with a smirk.
Basil scoffed and walked closer to Ambrose.
“You have no chance of winning on the battlefield if I’m there, you know why? Because you’re full of evil and guilt. You are your father’s heir and that’s why. You will never go far with a father like that, your end is downfall” Basil said seriously and Ambrose grabbed his collar angrily.
“Don’t get me pissed. If you have anything to say to me then do that directly, don’t get my father involved in it. Only losers speak that way” Ambrose said angrily.
“I shouldn’t get you pissed but I did that already. If you’re that proud of your father then I think you should go out and have a look at what his doing with my mother. So shameless, I’m ashamed of him on your behalf” Basil said and jerked Ambrose off he brushed Ambrose’s shoulders and then walked away.
……..
Abe arrived at the grand hall later on and immediately he was sighted by Larisa.
“Abe, over here” Larisa waved at him and he ran to her.
“Have you seen Basil? What about my father?” Abe asked curiously.
“Why are you looking for me? You said you weren’t coming but here you are at the last minute” Basil said as he joined them.
“Shouldn’t you be inside?” Abe and Larisa asked in chorus.
“I don’t think I’m needed in there. After all, it’s adult stuff, I don’t wish to get involved” Basil said.
“I think you need to be in there. Your presence will mean a lot to your parents. You should watch the whole scene, don’t miss a thing” Larisa said and Basil smiled.
“Your father is in there as well, how about we go in together? We can all go in together. We’re the future generation right” Basil said with a smile.
“Are you sure about that?” Larisa asked slowly and Basil held her hand.
“Of course, let’s go. Mother must be feeling so anxious in there since she hasn’t seen me yet” Basil said and they nodded.
The three of them went into the main hall.
On seeing Basil, Emma smiled widely.
An elder of the black wolf pack stepped forward and everyone wondered why.
“I’m sorry to say this but just because Luna Emma brought was born with a wolf fang doesn’t mean she’s the chosen one,” The elder said and everyone murmured to themselves.
Emma looked at Devon but he was way too calm than expected. Emma tried to hide her anxiety.
“What are you saying? Do you wish to be enemies with the grey pack before you even get appointed in the grand hall?” Alpha Jackson yelled and Devon looked at him.
“I don’t remember being on good terms with you either so just shut it and let the elder speak,” Alpha Devon said seriously and Jackson swallowed hard.
Ambrose smiled inwardly as he read the room.
“If you had any objections, why did you wait up until today to say something? You are sounding more like a hypocrite. What’re your intentions for bringing that up now?” Alpha Grant cut in.
Emma stood up from her seat.
“I also want to hear what your intentions are. What are you trying to insinuate? Do I need any other requirements to be enthroned as the true Alpha?” Emma asked and quietness swept the hall.
The elder cleared his throat.
“Decades ago, this rule was abolished. It doesn’t matter if you’re born with a wolf fang. All you need is to prove your worth to everyone. Entrusting such an important and dangerous seat to anyone is risky for us all. Being the true Alpha means you’re worthy of ruling over everyone but if you can’t even protect us then you’re not worthy of the position” The elder said calmly.
Alpha Devon smirked and Emma got a sight of that.
Of course, I believe you can take them down in seconds but watching this whole scene is fun. Alpha Devon said in his head.
“All you need is for me to prove myself right?” Emma asked seriously and the elder nodded.
“But how do you plan on doing that? You can’t possess your powers in here but if you can defend everyone in here without going against any rules then you’re worthy of the position” The elder said and clapped his hands.
Some warriors walked into the main hall.
“What’s the meaning of all this? How dare you bring warriors into the sacred grand hall? Are you trying to rebel? I smell a conspiracy here” Alpha Grant said seriously and noise covered the hall.
“Getting warriors involved, isn’t this dangerous? Mother might get hurt along the way. Father say something, I believe only your words can stop the elder from pushing through with this” Basil said worriedly.
Devon’s eyes were fixed on Emma.
“You think so little of your mother. Emma can handle it, she has been a spy for years, and she knows all the fighting techniques to conquer her enemies so you should watch the performance. She will be absolutely fine” Devon smiled and Basil looked at Devon in shock.
“Father, what do you mean spy? Mother is a spy?” Basil asked in shock and Devon looked at him.
“That’s her way of protecting the grey pack so don’t think of it the wrong way,” Devon said and Basil sighed with relief.
“But if everyone watches her fighting skills, it might be revealed that she’s a spy. Father, I still think you need to help mother out of this” Basil said and Devon exhaled sharply.
Emma glanced at Devon.
Alpha Devon was about to stand up when alpha Jackson stood up himself. The both of them glared at each other.
“This is absurd and there’s nowhere in history, it said that the sacred grand hall should be defied. So your way of testing her ability is wrong. She doesn’t need to prove herself, her abilities have done that already. Luna Emma was in the prophecy and I think this is where that prophesy lead her” Alpha Jackson spoke up and Devon sat down.
“Father, aren’t you going to say anything? Are we just going to let him safe mother?” Basil asked curiously and Devon wore a blank expression.
Emma glimpsed at Devon hoping he speaks up for her.
I can’t fight here, this might tarnish my reputation as a Luna and the reputation of the grey pack. Luna of the grey pack is an assassin in other packs. Devon speaks up for me. Emma said in her head worriedly.
“I get what alpha Jackson meant but I don’t think those reasons are convincing enough. The prophecy took place ages ago so there’s no point bringing it up again. I will prove myself” Emma declared and Devon clenched his fist.
Why are you trying so hard to get me to speak? Alpha Devon groaned in his head and his eyes caught the little weapons on the warriors and his eyes widened in shock.
“Alpha Devon, everyone dropped their opinions but you didn’t say a word, does that mean you agree to the test as well?” The elder asked and Devon stood up.
“This is barely one of the black wolf’s ways of dealing with things but it’s not the same for other packs. Luna Emma’s fighting right now might prove you wrong but other packs only believe in achievements and accomplishments. You must have heard of the things Luna Emma did and bringing justice and going to battles is one of those things. That’s more than enough to prove her worth. And again, don’t push it. This test isn’t approved” Alpha Devon said seriously and everyone kept mute.
“He’s finally standing up for his wife. I thought he wasn’t going to say anything” Alpha Grant said in a low tone.
Alpha Devon sat down.
Emma looked at him.
“I still want to push through with the test. I think I should be able to convince everyone, it’s a responsibility I must fulfil” Emma said and Devon bite his lower lips as he looked away.
“What’s mother saying? This isn’t the time to be brave. We have no idea what that elder has planned with those warriors” Basil uttered.
“Basil, keep it down. You said you don’t want to get involved with the adult stuff so let your parents handle this” Abe said and Basil groaned.
“Sometimes I just find it hard, understanding mother” Basil complained.
“I think Luna Emma doesn’t know what she wants. How about we adjoin this meeting to some other day when she has made up her mind” Alpha Devon cut in and gasped in shock.
“What the hell is going on? Did they fight before?” Alpha Grant questioned in shock on hearing Devon’s words.
“Alpha Devon!” Emma called out seriously and Devon stood up.
“Yes,” Alpha Devon answered with cold eyes.
“Don’t push it,” Emma said glaring at him.
Devon walked to Emma and slide his hands into his pocket.
“Don’t push it as well, I’m giving you a chance to save our marriage?” Alpha Devon said coldly.
“Don’t tell me you’re bent on what you said in the morning?”
“You know I don’t say things I don’t mean. If you become the true Alpha, we will be enemies. Do you still want to do it?” Devon asked and Emma kept mute for some minutes.
Wow, I’m loving this. I guess they fought. There’s no way I will let such opportunities like this slide away. Alpha Grant said in his head with a malicious smile.
“I’m sorry Alpha Devon but there’s no turning back in this decision. For the fact that Luna Emma came down here to agree to the position then there’s no turning back. She has to be accepted into the grand hall or no one is leaving today” Alpha Grant said seriously.
Alpha Devon turned around and glared at him.
“You’re just a mere Alpha, who do you think you are to decide that?” Alpha Devon yelled and Grant managed to stand up with the help of his clutches.
“You’re also just a mere Alpha, who said your words are the only words we will listen to?” Alpha Grant yelled.
“I have a say in this because she’s my wife and Luna. Whatever decision she makes she matters to me so stay out of it if you don’t wish to lose your other leg for a clutches” Alpha Devon threatened and Grant glared at him.
“Alpha Devon!” Grant yelled and Devon glared at him coldly.
“Silence!” Emma yelled and walked forward to everyone.
“Just like Alpha Grant said, you must all make a decision today or no one is leaving. After all, I never asked for this. You all came to me and spoke me into this so I don’t get why I need to prove myself. If you think I wasn’t worthy then you wouldn’t have looked for me in the first place” Emma said seriously.
Alpha Liam from the black wolf pack stood up and Larisa looked at her father.
“Luna Emma is right, bringing warriors to test her abilities is wrong of us so I give my full support on her enthronement,” Alpha Liam said and sat down.
Liam, not you too. Alpha Devon said in his head frustratedly.
