CHAPTER 44
Next day…
After so long Basil visited the academy.
“Who do we have here?” Abe asked playfully and Basil rolled his eyes as he sat down.
“Everyone seems pretty busy today. Is anything happening at the academy today?” Basil asked looking around as he watched everyone busy with one thing or the other.
“And that’s why you shouldn’t miss out on school. Stop taking the advantage of your position. Everyone here is working so hard to look outstanding today. Seems like our academy is inviting guests over” Abe informed.
“Guests? What guests?” Basil asked and a call came into his cellphone.
“Yes, father,” Basil said after taking the call.
“Basil, you should compose yourself today. I don’t want to hear any complaints from the academy”
“Father, what’s the occasion?” Basil asked.
“Tourism. You will be meeting your fellow mates from other packs and probably royals so compose yourself. Have a great day at the academy” Alpha Devon said and hung up.
Basil looked at Abe still confused about what Devon just said.
“It’s not like this is the first time we’re having werewolves from other packs coming to our academy so what’s the big deal this time around,” Basil said bluntly and Abe’s concentration was fixed behind Basil.
“What are you looking at?” Basil asked frustratedly and he turned around.
The heirs and heiresses from other packs walked majestically into the lobby and everyone’s jaw dropped on seeing them.
“What!” Basil gasped as he saw the leader.
“Why’s he here as well?” Basil asked with a frown.
“You’ve always wanted to have a personal encounter with him. There’s no chance better than now” Abe cut in and Basil looked away.
Their teacher came into the class in search of Basil.
“Basil!” The teacher called but basil tried hard to hide his face.
“Abe, have you seen Basil?” The teacher asked and Abe’s eyes landed on Basil.
“There you are. Come with me, you’ve got to say hell to our guests” The teacher said and Basil frowned as he reluctantly stood up.
“Abe can stand in for me, right? Can’t I just back out? I don’t like having new faces around” Basil said but the teacher wrapped her arms around Basil’s as she dragged him out of the class.
She dragged him out to the open space where the guests were seated.
“Hello everyone, I will give a brief introduction to Basil because he probably doesn’t know many of you,” The teacher said and one of them scoffed.
“How’s that our fault that he doesn’t know about us? He doesn’t mingle, I guess he feels too good of himself to mingle” One of them said sarcastically and Basil glared at him.
Basil, you can’t be a rude brat just yet. I will show them some hospitality after all that’s what father wants. Basil said in his head.
“And your name is?” Basil asked.
“My name’s Mateo from shred pack,” Mateo said as he stood up and Basil smirked.
“What was the smirk for,” Mateo asked a bit offended by Basil’s act.
“You must be the nephew of Alpha Grant? You look so much like him” Basil said and Mateo sat down not knowing if Basil’s words were a compliment or not.
“It was thoughtless of me not to have known you all from the very start but no time is too late. Since you’re all here, the introduction is the best idea” Basil said politely and his teacher looked at him in shock.
She was flabbergasted at Basil’s politeness.
“I’m Rowan Frederick” Rowan introduced.
“Rowan from the Ice pack,” Basil said and he nodded.
“Larisa here. It was a pleasure meeting you in person. I’ve always wanted to meet up with you. Hoping we get along” Larisa said with a wide smile.
Carefree and she was trying to flirt with me. Basil said in his head and he laughed inwardly.
“Of course Larisa, I hope so as well”
“I’m Mia from ghost pack. It took you quite some time to meet with everyone, it wouldn’t have been possible if this visit wasn’t planned out” Mia said seriously.
She can’t possibly be the daughter of the late Alpha female. I guess she’s the niece of the late alpha female of the ghost pack. Basil said in his head.
“Mia you seem to be more upset than everyone here,” Basil said with his eyes fixed on her. The teacher noticed the intense look so she cleared her throat.
“We’ve got Ambrose and Silvia left so can we get done with the introduction so we can move to the next step” The teacher cut in sharply.
“I don’t think Basil will be needing my introduction. We’ve met before and we’re pretty aquatinted to each other” Silvia said still seated and Ambrose smirked.
“Well not many of us know you as well. You’re no different from Basil, you don’t mingle as well. Ever since your introduction at the grand hall, you stopped coming so it’s only proper you make an introduction of yourself” Mateo said and Basil smiled at Mateo.
“It’s none of your business if I introduce myself or not so stay out of it introducing myself to you all wasn’t the purpose of our visit so watch it,” Silvia said fiercely and everyone kept mute.
“What’s wrong with her? It’s only an introduction why’s she making a deal out of it” Larisa mumbled.
“Silvia wasn’t wrong in any way. We’re all here for one purpose and that’s making peace amongst ourselves and to come up with a solution on how to join hands at the next meeting at the grand hall” Ambrose spoke up and Silvia smiled with admiration.
“Speaking all mighty won’t help the situation so introduce yourself first because in this place I’m the only one who doesn’t know you,” Basil said coldly.
“I’ve got the feeling, more than anyone. You know me better” Ambrose said with a smirk.
“Cut the crap and introduce yourself,” Basil said and the teacher looked at him.
“Basil, do you have a problem with Ambrose?” The teacher whispered to him but he ignored her.
“I’m Ambrose Jackson from the crust pack” Ambrose introduced himself and then stood up.
“Since we’re done with the introduction, I will go do my thing. I will look around” Ambrose added then walked away without even waiting for any response.
“Why was I even called here in the first place? Can I go now?” Basil asked the teacher with a frown.
Mia walked to Silvia and gave out her hand for a handshake.
“Mia, you’re quite feisty. Just the kind of she-wolf I would make friends with” Mia said with a half smile and Silvia accepted the handshake.
“I’m not ready to be friends with anyone now but I hope my words don’t hurt you much. When I’m ready to be friends with you, will you accept me?” Silvia asked and Mia nodded.
“You’re being honest and that’s a good personality. I don’t get offended by such things. Anytime you’re ready, visit me okay” Mia said with a smile.
“I have to leave now,” Silvia said and ran after Basil.
“Basil! Basil!” Silvia said and ran after Basil but he gave her deaf ears.
Silvia grabbed his arm to stop him from walking.
“What do you want?” Basil asked frustratedly and Silvia smiled.
“It’s simple, be friends with me and I won’t have to keep bugging you,” Silvia said and Basil jerked her hands off.
“You don’t force friendship. It just works out on its own and if you’re still on about making my father your master, it’s high time you wake up from that ridiculous slumber and stop bugging me. I’m already pissed as it stands” Basil said with a frown.
“Can I take a guess? You’re upset because of Ambrose” Silvia said and Basil looked at her.
“I’m right, he’s the reason you’re pissed off but I don’t think the both of you know each other so why are you upset with him? He’s sweet and mature, I don’t know him much but I like him regardless” Silvia said with a smile and Basil rolled his eyes.
“If you like him that much, why not go to him and ask him to be your master instead and stop bugging me” Basil blurted then walked away.
“He has a rotten temper. I know exactly how to deal with you” Silvia smirked and someone tapped her shoulders from behind.
……
Alpha Devon sat at a bench in the academy garden next to the training field lost in so many thoughts when Ambrose walked into the garden.
On seeing the back of Devon, he turned around to leave.
“Why are you leaving? You came to have a glance as well right” Devon asked without even looking back.
“You seem to have a lot on your mind so I won’t interrupt you. Go ahead, I will come back some other time” Ambrose said politely and Devon’s heartbeat skipped.
Alpha Devon turned around quickly but Ambrose left already. Devon only watched him from behind as he left.
Now, that was strange. His voice sounded familiar and at the same time, it sounded strange. Do I know him from somewhere? Alpha Devon questioned in his head as he felt uneasy after Ambrose left.
“Let’s not think about that. I’ve got lots of things on my mind already. I shouldn’t distract myself with little things” Alpha Devon reminded me.
……
Ambrose went stood at the roof of the academy.
“It’s quite peaceful over here. It feels like home” Ambrose said with a smile and inhaled the fresh air.
“It’s nothing like your home so quit dreaming,” Basil said from a corner.
Ambrose glanced at him and exhaled deeply without uttering a word.
“Why are you quiet? You think I’m way too little for you to exchange words with right” Basil said seriously.
“I’ve heard lots of things about you. Some of which are good and others funny as well. Weird enough, I seem to put much interest into this pack. You have a problem with me but you know what, I don’t care if you do. I don’t have much spare time to exchange words with you. That’s childish” Ambrose said coldly and Basil clenched his fist.
“Did you just call me childish?” Basil fumed and Ambrose walked away.
He got to the door and turned around.
“Relate this message to the Alpha. Grey pack is beautiful because he chose to change out of all packs. The academy is beautiful as well. Tell him that for me” Ambrose said with a blank expression then left.
“What am I? Your servant or slave to do that for you. Don’t be ridiculous. If you mean it then does it yourself gossiper” Basil groaned and Ambrose smirked on hearing Basil from the door.
I intend on doing that when I’ve become more powerful. Empty words don’t move great men. Although father thinks low of Alpha Devon, I think he’s amazing to have achieved so much. He agreed to make use of modernization and he made Grey pack beautiful. What could be wiser than that? Ambrose said in his head with a smile.
……
Grey pack house…
Emma is seated in her study room when a call came in through her cell phone.
“Milady, I guess you haven’t heard yet but all the elders have been exhausted and it happened at night” Celina informed and Emma stood up in shock.
“How did that happen? I thought the alphas hesitated on my request. Did they push through with it?” Emma asked curiously.
“I’m sorry to say this but it’s just a doing of one person”
“Who?” Emma asked curiously and the study room door cracked open.
“Me!” Alpha Jackson cut in and Emma swallowed hard.
“Celina, how did Alpha Jackson get in here?” Emma asked curiously.
“He called beforehand that he would be visiting and his visit was approved by you Milady,” Celina said.
“What do you mean?” Emma asked.
“Join hands with me, Luna. Not in leadership but the other way around. I believe you deserve better” Jackson said and Emma tried so hard to recall his face.
“I don’t get you and I don’t know why you’re here,” Emma said looking at him suspiciously.
