CHAPTER 42
Days went by after the chaos at the grand hall. All other alphas kept a low profile as they played along and none of them supported the elders although none of them liked Alpha Devon.
Devon has an advantage and disadvantage over other alphas because he was more powerful and brave. In history, he’s the youngest Alpha who conquered so many packs without even getting a scratch and that’s why others envied his greatness and achievements.
Basil was still in a dilemma about the whole situation. He has never witnessed Emma’s fierce side before although he always heard of it he witnessed it all at the grand hall.
“If the elders can’t fulfil their responsibilities anymore then I see no use coming together to uphold peace. You’ve humiliated an alpha and threatened the life of his heir. They aren’t just anyone, they’re my family. Just so you know, you’ve humiliated me as well, the heiress of the shadow pack. My family and I solely cut ties with the grand hall and according to the number one rule of the crescent, I’m allowed to destroy the duties of the grand hall if a threat of murder is involved. I hereby seal my vow” Emma said seriously as she brought out her birthright wolf fang dagger.
Everyone gasped in shock as they saw Emma’s birthright.
Basil sighed deeply as he had the flashback.
Mother has a birthright of an Alpha. Only true heir owns a wolf fang dagger. Basil questioned in his head.
But rumours have it that mother was only born to fulfil her father’s selfish desires. How come she was given a peculiar birthright?
Basil stood up from the couch in his chambers and then walked to his window looking out to the Pack’s house entrance.
“I didn’t even get a chance to meet one on one with Ambrose the gossiper” Basil uttered with a frown.
A knock came on his door and he turned to see who it was.
“Sir, you’ve got a guest. The Luna ordered you to come out” A maid announced and Basil looked at her a bit confused.
“A guest?” Basil asked and the maid nodded.
“I will be out in a minute,” Basil said and the maid left.
I’m not expecting anyone but let’s go check up on mother. She’s finally out of her chambers. Basil said in his head and then head out of his chambers to the grand sitting room.
Before he went in, he heard s loud laughter coming from inside.
“I had no idea, Max was this outgoing. Hearing about him now really changes the way I see him” Emma laughed while Silvia grinned as well.
Basil walked in, looking around to get a glimpse of the guest.
“Oh, here comes Basil” Emma gasped lightly.
“You said I have a guest” Basil uttered.
“Yes. Basil, I had no idea you were friends with the daughter of Alpha Grayson” Emma asked with a smile and Basil’s eyes landed on Silvia.
“I’m not friends with her. I don’t even know her” Basil said bluntly and Silvia ran to him.
“What are you saying, Basil? We met at the grand hall” Silvia said sharply and Basil stared at her suspiciously.
“We’ve met?” Basil asked.
“Of course, we did”
“But how come I don’t recall meeting you? I’ve never even seen this face before” Basil said and Emma chuckled.
Silvia quickly grabbed Basil’s arms playfully.
“What are you saying, Basil? Don’t give your mother the wrong idea” Silvia covered up with an awkward laugh and Basil looked at her still wondering what her deal was.
“The both of you take your time. I will take my leave now” Emma said with a smile as she stood up.
“Mother don’t leave yet. I’ve got some things to discuss with you. I will go with you” Basil said about to walk to Emma but Silvia grabbed him back.
“Basil, we’ve got lots of time to do that but for now, it’s only proper that you attend to your guest. It will be rude of you to leave”
“Milady, I’m hoping to meet with you before I leave for the academy,” Silvia said with a smile.
“Of course, Silvia. I hope the both of you have a great time” Emma smiled and then left.
After Emma left Basil turned to Silvia with a terrifying look in his eyes.
“Can you let go of me now and drop the act?” Basil said coldly and swiftly Silvia moved away from him and sat on a couch, crossing one of her legs against the other.
“What do you want? And what are you doing in the grey pack?” Basil asked.
“Why did you lie to your mother that you’ve never seen me before? We met at the grand hall and you bumped into me forcefully, till this moment my shoulders still hurts” Silvia fakes a wince and Basil rolled his eyes.
“Don’t lie to yourself, it’s probably healed already and I only bumped into you because I was in a hurry to leave and bumping into you doesn’t make us friends. I don’t just befriend anyone so I think your claims were a bit expensive” Basil said sarcastically.
“Don’t get over yourself. You bumped into me and you knew it but the word sorry didn’t drop out of your mouth. If I’m to fight it out with you for doing that, you might have to call in for a healer in advance because you won’t be getting healed anytime soon” Silvia said with a malicious smile.
“You didn’t come to grey pack just to pick a fight with me right” Basil giggled awkwardly and Silvia raised one of her eyebrows.
“What do you think?”
“I see, you’ve got quite some free time on your hands but you know what, I’m not that jobless like you are. I’ve got lots of things to take care of. You probably know your way out”
Silvia stood up with a mean look on her face.
“You don’t wish to create a scene here, do you?”
“What exactly do you want?” Basil asked frustratedly and immediately Silvia’s face brightened up.
“Be friends with me so your father can be my master?” Silvia said with a wide smile and Basil boost into laughter.
“What’s funny?” Silvia asked with a frown.
“I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous in my entire life. Do you have any idea what you’re talking about? Didn’t your father tell you anything regarding alpha Devon? If he didn’t then you must have probably heard of him outside. Of all the alphas you chose to come to lash out your nonsense in the grey pack?” Basil mocked and Silvia clenched her fist.
“When I saw you at the podium, I thought of you as someone cool but you’re no different from the rest of them. If you don’t wish to be friends with me then leave it but I’m not stopping there” Silvia said and an alarm rang on her cellphone.
“I will be back,” Silvia said and ran out of the sitting room and out of the pack house.
“Can today be any weirder” Basil groaned and rolled his eyes sluggishly then shook his head.
……..
Alpha Devon came into Emma’s bedroom and she completely ignored him.
“For how long will you keep ignoring me? You’ve refused to go out of your chambers and you’ve refused to come work at the study. You’re trying to avoid me” Alpha Devon said and Emma still didn’t say a word.
“I heard you went out to receive Basil’s guest. Should I invite a guest over as well for you to come out and speak to me? It’s been days already after the grand hall get-together but why are you still so upset?” Devon asked and Emma looked at him.
“I’m not upset. I’m furious” Emma said seriously then stood up from her bed.
“What are you furious about? You took care of the situation brilliantly so why are you upset?” Devon asked.
“I’m furious because they still haven’t known your worth, after everything you’ve done to be great and powerful. You’ve rendered help to other packs and you’ve cooperative and you’ve kept a low profile. You didn’t attack or take over any clan for years and that’s because you want to be left alone. For the past eighteen years, they’ve refused to acknowledge the fact that you’re worthy of being the true Alpha since you’ve worked for it just like you said” Emma said almost in tears Devon walked to her and grabbed her into an embrace.
“Thank you for saying all this. You’ve got no idea how relieved I am to hear your voice. If you’re furious then let’s do something crazy and let out your anger. We’ve forgotten about how dangerous I can be but since they’ve angered you to this point, I should give them a taste of my medicine” Alpha Devon said with a vicious smile.
“What do you plan on doing?” Emma asked curiously as she broke the hug.
“How about the heart of the oldest elder? Or the heart of elder Greg?” Alpha Devon asked and Emma smiled.
“How about the heart of them all? If we wish to make you the next true Alpha, the corrupt elders need to be wiped out. They’re only seven in number, I will take down three and you go for the remaining four” Emma smirked and Devon hugged her tight.
“You sounded just like my mother. She loved going to battles with her father. I’m glad we’ve both got to that stage but you know what, I’m not going to let you waste your time on that. I will handle it and you handle the rest because you will be getting busier after I do that. I just need concrete proof that they were involved in mother’s death and that will be the end of them all” Alpha Devon said coldly.
“Do you need my help with that?” Emma asked and Devon looked at her.
“Any idea on how to do it?” Devon asked curiously and Emma smiled.
“What I said at the grand hall wasn’t farfetched. I’ve got solid evidence. They all had a hand in it but one of them is exceptional” Emma said slowly.
“Who?”
“Elder Greg” Emma said and Devon broke the hug completely.
“How’s that even possible? He’s the sole reason I wish to rip out all their hearts” Devon said seriously.
“His name wasn’t on the list of the masked assassins,” Emma said and someone Knocked at the door.
They both looked at the door swiftly.
“Come in,” Emma said and Kent came with a blank expression on his face.
“I think the both of you should take a look at the entrance. Take a look at your window” Kent said and Emma and Devon stared at each other curiously.
They walked to the window and took a peek.
Lots of cars were packed outside already.
“Kent what’s going on down there? Why are there so many cars?” Alpha Devon asked curiously.
“Six alphas are waiting outside to meet with the Luna” Kent announced and Devon looked at Emma.
“Why’s that?” Devon asked.
“They’ve come to clear their doubts,” Kent said.
“What doubts?” Devon and Emma chorused.
“Doubts about the wolf fang dagger. Only a true Alpha should have one but Emma has one and it’s chaos out there” Kent said.
“And it has the symbol of the whole clan on it” Kent added and Devon bite his lower lips.
“Milady, before you go out there. I will love to ask you a question myself. Where did you get the dagger from? How did Alpha Falcon get it?” Kent asked curiously.
“I don’t know, I’ve always had it ever since I was little. I grew up with it and It has always been on my neck” Emma explained and Devon placed his hands on his waist.
“Devon is everything okay?” Kent asked as he noticed the anxious look on Devon’s face.
“You knew of the wolf fang dagger?” Emma asked curiously.
“Why’s everything trying to fall apart? I was born with a wolf fang dagger as well and not everyone knew of it” Alpha Devon said frustratedly.
