CHAPTER 41
Alpha Devon and Basil walked into the main hall.
Devon walked straight up to his seat and Basil sat next to him.
The elders at the higher seats looked at Devon.
“You’ve got a habit of coming late to all the events. Is that what you plan on teaching the upcoming generation?” One of the elders questioned but Devon kept mute like they weren’t referring to him.
Alpha Grant scoffed as he watched Devon’s attitude.
“Your attitude annoys me to the core. We’re all alpha’s here but why do you feel so highly of yourself?” Grant uttered with a frown and Devon wore a half smile.
“I know how you all have been dying to have me but my presence doesn’t give you the right to say trash to me. After all, I don’t mingle with betrayers” Alpha Devon said coldly and everyone began to whisper and mumble to themselves.
“Watch your language, Devon!” One of the elders yelled and Devon stood up angrily.
“Show me some respect. You’ve got no right to order me around so show me some respect whenever you mention my name” Alpha Devon yelled as well and quietness swept the hall.
“I’m here with my son just like you wanted so don’t let me lose my cool in front of all the young werewolves here. Let’s give ourselves some respect” Alpha Devon added with a mean look then sat down.
Silvia smiled from behind as she sat next to Max and Grayson.
“Father, is that alpha Devon from the Grey packs?” Silvia asked curiously and Grayson turned to her as he noticed the bright smile on her face.
“Exactly but seems like you’ve picked interest,” Grayson said with a half smile.
“I guess my visit today wouldn’t go to waste. Someone is finally giving us some actions” Silvia smiled.
“He’s troublesome, his visits are always like this. He always has a way of making everyone sweat in their pants” Max uttered and Silvia smiled even more.
“Father did you force yourself to come as well because you knew Alpha Devon will be coming today?” Silvia asked.
“I’ve got business to discuss with him so yes, I did” Grayson answered.
“What kind of business father?” Silvia asked and Max looked at Grayson.
“You will find out soon, maybe after the introduction ceremony”
“Introduction? Whose?” Silvia asked and Max pointed at Basil.
“Him? Alpha Devon has a son?” Silvia asked in surprise.
“Yes, but why do you sound so surprised?” Max asked but Silvia didn’t respond.
“Alpha Jackson and his son aren’t here yet as well”Some of the elders murmured to themselves and just then Alpha Jackson walked into the main hall with Ambrose next to him.
“My apologies for being late” Alpha Jackson apologized politely.
Alpha Devon scoffed loudly.
“I thought I was the only one who wasn’t punctual. You were never like this Jackson, what happened to you?” Alpha Devon asked sarcastically.
“Alpha Devon, you said you should be given some respect when your name is called so do the same to your fellow Alpha. Show him some respect” One of the elders yelled and Devon glared at him.
“Why should I? After all, I’m higher in rank than him so I decide how I address him, stay out of it” Devon said seriously. The elder stood up to create a scene but Jackson raised his hand.
“No need to create a scene. Alpha Devon can do as he pleases, after all, he’s solely the reason we’re all here today. I don’t care about any of his hostile attitude towards me” Jackson said rudely then walked to his seat with his son.
Silvia drooled as she stared at Ambrose.
“Close up your mouth. You’re drooling all over” Max teased.
“Your attention shouldn’t be there but on alpha Devon and his son,” Grayson said as he turned Silvia’s head in Devon’s direction.
Ambrose glanced at his father.
“You did well father. You handled it pretty well” Ambrose complimented with a smile.
“I only held myself back because you told me to before we got in here. Devon gets on my nerves and I’m not letting him get away with his attitude towards me” Jackson said seriously.
“Greetings everyone. We’re all here because alpha Devon chose to respect our wishes by bringing his son over for an introduction according to the rules of the twelve reigns. We would have forced him down here earlier if his first child survived but the alpha wasn’t fit himself so we can’t blame him for being careless over the gift given to him by the moon goddess” One of the elders said and everyone whispered to themselves again.
“Why the hell is he bringing that up here?” Basil asked with a frown.
Alpha Devon clenched his fist angrily.
“Father, alpha Devon had a child before?” Silvia asked curiously.
“Yes, he did but he lost him immediately after he was born”
“That must have been tragic for him but why did the elder bring that up, I don’t think that’s in any way related to today’s event,” Silvia said.
“The elder is trying to piss him off. Alpha Devon has always been untouchable and he was known as an alpha without weakness but right now, everyone knows where it hurts him” Grayson explained.
Alpha Devon stood up and walked to the elder’s seats.
He leaned forward to the elder standing.
“I don’t wish to cause a scene but it will be dangerous if you push me to. I don’t care if you’re elders so watch what you say in front of everyone. I still haven’t forgotten about your hand in my mother’s death so don’t let me use that as an excuse to slits all your throat. Just so you know I’m no longer the young alpha you once knew. Keep that in mind” Alpha Devon threatened as he glared at all the elders and they kept mute.
“What is the alpha saying to the elders?” Everyone whispered to themselves as they desperately wanted to hear Devon’s words to the elders.
Grant and Grayson wore a smile throughout the whole scene.
“He hasn’t changed one bit” Grayson smiled.
“Apologies for my rude and careless words just now but I didn’t mean any harm” The elder apologized in a shaky voice and Devon glared at him before going back to his seat.
“So full of himself” Jackson rolled his eyes.
“Can we get to the introduction already? Stop wasting our time” An Alpha yelled from behind.
“Alpha Devon, can you please come forward with your son?” The elders said in unison.
“Let’s go, Basil” Devon said and just then Kent sneaked into the main hall and he gave Basil a thumbs-up as they head forward.
“Quite good-looking” Some of the elders mumbled.
“Basil makes a brief introduction of yourself,” Alpha Devon said and went back to his seat.
“I’m Basil Devon, the son of Alpha Devon and the grandson of Alpha Tyler. My apologies for taking this long before coming forward to introduce myself” Basil said politely and Kent smirked.
“He sounds so innocent, I’m pretty sure in his head he feels like their heads apart for making him do this” Kent laughed and Devon joined him.
“You’re the future of Grey pack and we’re hoping to join celebrating your enthronement in the future. In the past, elders always gave out quizzes to test the ability of our upcoming rulers” The elder said and Basil fixed his eyes on Devon.
Devon winked at him.
“Why does it sound like you’re having second thoughts about doing that? Are you that scared of my father?” Basil asked with a blank expression and the elders laughed awkwardly.
“Don’t be a silly boy. We’re elders of all twelve reign so how can you say something so absurd in front of everyone”
“Then let’s not waste any more time and get straight down to it,” Basil said seriously.
“You’re just like your father,” One of the elders said and Basil glared at him.
“It doesn’t sound like it’s a compliment. Is this the kind of attitude you give to a young prince? You’re giving room for disrespect”
“Hey, you’re still very little so watch your language when you speak to elders. You don’t wish to end up like your grandmother” An elder scolded and everyone looked at him in shock.
Devon furrowed his eyebrows as the words sunk into him.
He stood up slowly.
“Oh no, this isn’t good” Grant gasped.
“What the hell did you just say?” Alpha Devon asked slowly with a blank expression on his face and all the elders got down from their seats and walked down to where Devon was.
“I don’t want to repeat my question,” Devon said furiously.
“Ha! Who knew today’s gathering will be so interesting? I would have regretted it if I didn’t make it” Jackson smirked as he relaxed and watched the whole drama.
“That’s the alpha’s weakness so why did the elder bring it up? It sounded more like a threat to prince Basil” Ambrose uttered in a low tone and Jackson glared at him.
“How many times have I told you to keep your nose out of their business? Why do you pick so much interest in Grey pack? You don’t even know them” Jackson said seriously.
“I’m sorry father, I sometimes can’t help but feel worried for them”
“Get it out of your head. You’re my heir so you should never feel sorry or worried for anyone. Your heart should be as hard as a rock and that’s exactly why I’ve been training you ever since you were little” Jackson said seriously.
“Alpha Devon it’s high time you know your place. Your threats don’t work on either of us and so what if something happened to your mother? We had nothing to do with it and you don’t have a prove we had a hand in it” An elder said seriously.
“You’re just an elder, disrespecting an alpha is similar to treason so for your good, watch your language,” Kent said seriously.
“In the grand hall, there’s no rule stating that. In the grand hall, both alpha’s and elders are in the same positions”
“Don’t cover up my question. Go straight and answer my damn question? What the hell did you just say to Basil?” Alpha Devon yelled angrily but he had no sign of transformation because of the barrier in the grand hall, its stops every werewolf from transitioning when they’re in.
“It was just a slip of the tongue. Elder Greg meant none of it” An elder covered up.
“Luna Samantha’s death is all in the past so why do you keep bringing that up and causing chaos in the grand hall? You caused a scene eighteen years ago because of your mother’s death. You’re still creating a scene about it in front of your son” An elder said and Devon glared at him.
“Did you just say cause a scene? Did I start all of this? Elder Greg threatened my son’s life. Do you intend on gathering assassins on my son as well? How dare you make such a statement in my presence? I might not be able to make use of my powers here but that doesn’t mean I won’t crush your bones with my fist. Do you have any idea about the penalty of your words? Do you wish to join my mother today?” Alpha Devon asked furiously as he walked closer to elder Greg and he walked backwards in fear.
“Devon, what the hell are you doing!” Emma screamed from the door and everyone turned to her.
“Mother!” Basil called out slowly.
Ambrose smiled at seeing Emma.
She’s beautiful. Ambrose said in his head.
“Emma, what are you doing here?” Devon asked as he turned to her.
Emma walked forward and turned to the whole audience.
“The purpose of this grand hall is to find peace amongst all packs. We might be enemies and rivals outside this hall but not inside. Our fathers built and created this hall to achieve one goal and that’s unity but something tragic happened one day. Some elders of this grand hall joined hands and killed a Luna who was fighting for the truth” Emma said seriously and everyone kept mute in shock.
“We might have forgotten the purpose of this hall but the truth still stands and conspiracy is forbidden in the grand hall” Emma yelled.
