CHAPTER 33
Alpha Devon ran into the backwoods as he anxiously searched for Emma.
The invaders head straight to the backwoods.
“Who the hell are you and what do you want?” Alpha Devon asked with a thunderous tone as the invaders surrounded him.
Emma was seated at the back of a huge tree when she heard some rattle from behind the tree.
She had a peep and she covered her mouth in shock on seeing the invaders surrounding the Alpha.
“Where’s Emma?” One of the invaders asked and his voice echoed.
Alpha Devon clenched his fist angrily.
“She’s the Luna, show some respect. Why the hell will you ask for her? What business do you have with her to sneak into my territory? What audacity you’ve got” Alpha Devon said coldly as he glared at each one of them.
“Our business with Emma is none of your business so stay out of our way or hand her over if you don’t wish to lose innocent lives” The invaders threatened.
“What a threat coming from low-live werewolves” Alpha Devon cursed as his eyes turned yellow and his claws grew out.
He was about to transform fully when one of the invaders dragged Emma out with him.
“We’ve got her so save your strength,” He said and Devon looked at Emma in shock.
What are you doing here? Why didn’t you hide away? Alpha Devon questioned in his head.
“Grab her tight” The head of the invaders walked to where Emma was and he punched her hard in her stomach.
“Ahhh!” Emma winced and alpha Devon growled as he transformed in a blink of an eye.
Alpha Devon rushed to the head of the invader and slit his throat with his claw but Emma was taken away quickly.
Devon went after them but Emma was given a deep cut on her arms. On seeing this Devon got even more furious and he murdered every one of them with rage.
Alpha Devon ran to Emma after silencing every one of them.
“Are you okay?” Devon asked worriedly as he tried to hold her hands but Emma shoved him off.
“Stay away from me” Emma yelled and managed to stand up and walked away.
Alpha Devon ran after her but she jerked him off and a dagger pierced through his chest.
Emma felt the blood splashed on her neck and she turned around slowly. Devon slowly fell to the ground and Emma’s claw grows out in agony she went after the last survivor of the invaders who attacked Devon.
Emma bounced on him as she felt so much anger within.
“I will not forgive you for hurting him” Emma howled angrily and she slit his throat into two.
Tears roll down her cheeks as she killed him that instant.
Emma stood up and just then the guards rushed into the backwoods along with Kent.
“Milady, are you okay?” Kent asked as they all rushed to her but Emma’s eyes were on Devon who was laying unconscious on the ground.
“It took you so long to get here,” Emma said dispirited then walked to Devon.
She bent over and held his head up. Tears roll down her cheeks uncontrollably.
“Sire,” The guards and Kent called out sadly.
“What are you still waiting for? Take the alpha to his chambers” Kent yelled and the guards carried Devon.
Emma sat on the floor.
“Milady, it’s not safe here. Let’s head back to the pack house” Kent said but Emma kept mute without bulging.
“Emma, the alpha needs you next to him and you seem to have some injuries as well, you need to get treated” Kent added Emma looked at him sluggishly and she managed to stand up back.
“Support the Luna” Kent ordered and some maids held Emma’s arms in support.
“Careful,” Kent said seriously.
They head back to the pack house and Lydia stood in the lobby heading to Devon’s chambers.
“This all happened because of you. You’re the reason the alpha is in this state” Lydia fired at Emma.
“Lydia, this isn’t a good time. The Luna needs to get treated as well” Kent cut in and Lydia glared at him.
“Are we going to let this slide? Emma is completely at fault here and she’s not even remorseful about that” Lydia yelled and Emma brushed her shoulders as she went to Devon’s chambers.
“What the nerve you’ve got to brush my shoulders or even see the Alpha” Lydia said angrily about to go after Emma but Kent grabbed her arms, stopping her from walking away.
“Kent what are you doing?” Lydia asked as she looked at the spot Kent held her.
“You should know when to stop. Does this look like the best time to do this? No one’s in the mood for this so drop it. The alpha’s life is in danger and everyone’s worried and anxious about his current state so don’t cause a scene when everyone is trying to keep a positive spirit and you know so well that, this incident isn’t Luna’s fault. She didn’t plan any of this so quit your accusations” Kent said coldly then walked away.
Lydia glared at him as she clenched her fist.
Lydia went to her room and locked the door.
She placed a call across to one of her men.
“Milady, we lost generally all our spies today”
“They deserved it for getting Devon involved in all this. Alpha Devon wasn’t the target so why was he involved? It’s obvious he was stabbed with a poisoned dagger, what kind of poison was used on him?” Lydia asked seriously.
“Poison?”
“Yes poison, I need to know the poison used on him so I can get an antidote for him”
“Poison wasn’t involved in our plans and the Alpha wasn’t our target so we never planned on getting him involved,” He said and Lydia looked away a bit confused.
“What do you mean? The alpha was attacked with a poisonous dagger and that’s why he fell unconscious” Lydia said seriously.
“Milady, I think that attack was from another source. Hurting the Luna, poison wasn’t involved in our plans” He said and Lydia hung the call.
Whose plan was that? If the attack wasn’t from my men then who brought harm to the alpha? Lydia questioned in her head.
…..
Emma sat next to Devon on his bed and stared at him with teary eyes.
“What’s the condition of the Alpha?” Kent asked curiously.
“I couldn’t feel his pulse for a moment. The alpha is in a critical condition, we’re hoping his pulse becomes stable” The healer announced and the tears crowded in Emma’s eyes dropped.
“But he will be fine right?” Kent asked worriedly.
“The poison used on him is excruciating but I think the alpha is fighting for his life. With his skills of fast healing, he wouldn’t give up so easily” The healer said in a low tone.
“Can’t you find an antidote for the poison?”
“And that’s where the problem lies. I can’t seem to identify what kind of poison was used on him but I will keep on trying all sorts of antidote on him”
“Using all sorts of antidote on the alpha might turn to poison as well. Why not think hard about the kind of poison used on him? We don’t wish to worsen his situation and you’re dealing with the alpha here, you shouldn’t be sloppy or careless because your life is on the line as well” Kent threatened.
“I will, you don’t have to threaten me. I also want to save the Alpha” The healer said seriously.
Emma fell asleep next to Devon after secretly crying her eyes out.
“Milady,” Kent called out to her but she fell asleep already.
“What about Luna Emma? Poison wasn’t detected in her injuries right?” Kent asked curiously.
“It would have been dangerous if poison was used on the Luna. She might have lost the baby but luckily she just had only a deep cut, which will recover in no time” The healer assured.
“That’s positive at least but why did she fall asleep like that?”
“The Luna is mentally drained, her brain can’t take the stress anymore and that’s why she fell asleep” The healer explained.
“Her mental state wouldn’t affect her health or the baby, right? The alpha will kill if he wakes up and finds out something happened to the Luna or his heir so put your full concentration on the both of them okay” Kent ordered.
“I will. I have to take my leave now, the injury has been treated we just have to wait till he gains consciousness. I will be back to check on the Luna” The healer said and Kent nodded.
The healer left the pack house and Lydia watched her from her room.
“She’s just coming out now. I guess Devon’s case is more severe than I thought but how on earth do I get an antidote for the poison” Lydia cracked her head.
….
Next day…
Emma woke up already and she sat on the couch with Kent when Charlotte ran into the sitting room.
“Emma!” Charlotte called out with teary eyes.
“Charlotte!” Emma called out in tears.
Charlotte ran into Emma’s embrace.
“I’m sorry, Emma” Charlotte apologized as the tears in her eyes dropped.
“Where have you been? Do you have any idea how worried and stressed you made me” Emma whined and Charlotte pat her back.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I don’t have any other words to cover up for my actions. I’m so sorry” Charlotte uttered slowly.
“Don’t ever leave me again?” Emma said in tears.
“I won’t. I’m sorry as well for what happened to the Alpha. You must feel so distressed right now” Charlotte added and Emma sobbed even more.
“I succeeded in comforting her but you brought back tears to her eyes” Kent complained and Emma broke the hug.
“I’m fine now, I’m fine” Emma sniffed in back her tears.
“The alpha was poisoned and the healer has no idea what kind of poison was used on him. I guess, they intend to kill the Alpha” Charlotte said and Emma and Kent looked at her.
“What! Don’t tell me this never crossed your mind?” Charlotte asked.
“But I was their target so why would they use poison on the Alpha while poison wasn’t used on me when they attacked me” Emma uttered.
“How about you think of it this way? The invaders are different with different motives” Charlotte explained.
“Shadow mask” Kent uttered and they both looked at him in shock.
“What!” Emma gasped in shock.
“What is a shadow mask?” Charlotte asked curiously.
“The masked werewolves assassins from the shadow pack,” Kent said.
“It all makes sense now. If they’re responsible then Charlotte and I will have to find an antidote ourselves because they will never give me an antidote. The alpha has always been on their list and for a second we let our guard down. I feel even more terrible now, the alpha is in this condition because of me” Emma said in a low tone and Charlotte pat her back.
“I will get to the root of this. And don’t feel guilty of nothing, you had nothing to do with it so don’t blame yourself” Kent said seriously.
“How sure are we that the alpha was attacked by the shadow mask? The alpha has numerous enemies and we wouldn’t be surprised if he got attacked by some other pack” Charlotte said.
“Charlotte’s right so we shouldn’t put all our suspicions on just the shadow mask. I will get to the root of this. Excuse me, I need to look at something” Kent said and left the sitting room.
He heads down to Lydia’s room.
It was so obvious, Lydia had her eyes on Emma. I think she had something to do with the attack. Kent said and went into Lydia’s room.
“Don’t tell me, you’re suspicious of me now?” Lydia said.
“Why are you so direct? Guilty conscience because I never said anything. Do you have any idea what you just did?” Kent asked coldly.
“So bold of you to accuse me so boldly,” Lydia said furiously.
“Just know one thing, you’re not leaving the grey pack alive,” Kent said in a thunderous tone as his claws grew out rapidly.
