Emma stood in the garden completely perplexed by Lydia’s words.
Like what the hell just happened now? Emma questioned in her head.
Alpha Devon and Kent watched from the highest balcony.
“Does her intentions look pure to you? Why would she even threaten Emma? She acted like everything was fine hours ago. Now, what’s the sudden twist of character” Kent said and Devon kept mute for some minutes.
“Why do you sound surprised? You’re acting like you’ve forgotten the kind of she-wolf Lydia is. It’s been ages since we saw each other but that doesn’t mean her character and personality have changed and that’s why I tried talking some sense into Emma, she was too stubborn to bulge” Devon said frustratedly.
“Emma did nothing wrong. It’s obvious she’s upset about you not telling her about Lydia’s visit. You should know by now that’s the source of her anger” Kent said and Devon looked at him and smiled.
“Your trip to the mayor’s town did not just work on the contract but on the both of you as well”
“What are you saying? Nothing changed, I still don’t trust her and I don’t have any plans of doing that in the nearest future. I’m only being loyal because you care about her a lot” Kent said and Devon nodded with a smirk.
“Still no word from Charlotte? It’s been ages already” Devon reminded and Kent looked away.
“She’s probably having a good time somewhere in the world. She will return when the time is right”
“When the time is right or when she has gotten herself a mate worthy of her” Devon said calmly and Kent glared at him.
“She can’t find anyone as good as me. I’m way too good for her, I only grew little feelings for her but that doesn’t mean she’s worthy of being my woman” Kent bragged.
“What a braggart! You’re way too slow for everyone’s liking. You don’t pursue love in that manner. You know everything on werewolves mind because you’re smart and brave but you lack the sense of admitting things” Devon teased.
“Admitting what things? Charlotte will be fine for now but when she realises I’m the best option she can come across then she will come back to her senses”
“Why am I even discussing this with you? You’re way too rigid to be understood. I feel bad for whichever she-wolf you would make your mate” Devon shook his head.
Kent furrowed his eyebrows as he found it hard to understand the alpha’s last statement.
They walked out of the balcony and then into the lobby.
“Devon” Lydia called out with a smile as she ran to them.
“You’re still up?” Devon asked politely.
“Isn’t it a bit too early to retire to bed?” Lydia asked jovially and Kent looked at her suspiciously.
“You’re right about that but you will be quite bored if you’re up and that’s why I talked about retiring to bed” Devon added.
“Now that you’ve talked about it, how about we chat for a bit before going to bed? Lydia suggested.
“Well, I will take my leave now” Kent cut in about to leave but Lydia held his hand.
“Kent why are you suddenly acting so distant? Everyone might think we’ve never met or seen each other before and that’s why you’re being extremely distant” Lydia said with puppy eyes.
Kent felt the cold in her hands as she grabbed him.
“If you wanted me to join you would’ve just said so. No need to be dramatic” Kent said with a half smile as he moved away from her.
“Let’s go,” Devon said and they all went to the sitting room.
They chatted for quite some time.
“Lydia sorry but I have to leave I’ve got some things to take care of at this time of the day” Kent cut in.
“I never heard about you capturing the heart of a she-wolf,” Lydia said jovially and Kent laughed awkwardly.
“Well, why are we suddenly talking about a woman? I wasn’t referring to that when I said I had something to do and trust me you were right, I haven’t captured anyone’s heart and you will hear of it if I do” Kent said with a half smile.
“Alright then, have a good night’s rest. Hoping to see you tomorrow” Lydia said and Kent nodded.

“I will leave now, sire” Kent said and left the sitting room.
“Lydia, what do you think of Emma?” Devon asked and Lydia adjusted her seat as she felt uncomfortable with that question.
“That’s out of the blue but why do you ask?” Lydia asked.
“It’s simple, you’re my friend and I want to listen to your opinion before giving in completely to a lady” Devon blurted.
“But it’s weird though because I don’t think having that conversation with me will be of any help,” Lydia said and Devon’s eyes were on her.
“Alright fine, I will share my opinion with you,” Lydia said.
“That’s more like it,” Devon said with a smile.
“Emma isn’t that bad, she’s pretty, she’s outspoken, she’s brave and got all the qualities of a Luna but she isn’t worthy of being your Luna. You deserve better and that’s all I can say” Lydia said.
“Thanks for your opinion that’s all I needed to hear,” Devon said politely.
“You’re not in any way offended by what I said right?” Lydia asked and Devon nodded negatively.
“Why would I be offended? You spoke out your opinion which I asked for and as my friend, you know my worth so there’s no way I will be offended by that” Alpha Devon uttered and Lydia smiled brightly.
She held Devon’s hand as she played with it.
Emma came into the sitting room and she saw the both of them so close to each other.
“What’s going on here? It’s not what I’m thinking right?” Emma asked with a fake smile.
“Why are you being so old-fashioned? We’re only holding hands, so why are you being so dramatic” Lydia cut in.
Emma thought of the scene in her head and she kept mute and had her seat without uttering a word.
“Emma is everything okay? You don’t like coming up here but you did today, is something bothering you?” Devon asked calmly as Lydia played with his fingers.
Emma got irritated even more as Lydia did that.
“AHH!” Emma fakes a wince as she held her stomach.
“Emma” Devon called out and ran to her in a heartbeat.
“Where does it hurt? Does it hurt so much?” Devon asked worriedly.
“It hurts a bit, can you please take me to my room,” Emma said in a low tone.
“Of course, I will,” Alpha Devon said and lifted Emma in his arms.
Lydia tightened her gums angrily as she watched the whole drama.
Devon brought Emma to her room.
“Should I call in for the healer? It might be something serious” He pointed out worriedly.
“It hasn’t gotten to that yet,” Emma said and then got down from her bed. She walked to the door and locked it.
“What’s….” Devon couldn’t complete his statement as Emma placed one of her fingers on his lips.

“Were you jealous of Lydia?” Devon teased and Emma looked away.
“Why should I be jealous of someone I don’t even know, you said it yourself” Emma covered up.
“It’s obvious you’re jealous of her because she’s so comfortable around me. She can do whatever she wants with me and I won’t stop her. If you wish for our relationship to be that way, I won’t mind since I’m no more holding any grudges between us in and it’s all thanks to you” Devon said softly and Emma looked at him with passionate eyes.
“Is she more satisfying than I am?” Emma asked slowly and Devon smirked.
“That’s in the past before I met you, okay? Lydia and I right now are just friends, I can assure you that”
“You don’t have to assure me anything, after all, I was once your slave who got promoted so I don’t deserve any of that” Emma blurted and Devon raised her chin with his fingers.
“I guess you weren’t taught all that. You’ve got the right to rebuke me from seeing anyone that’s if you’ve changed your mind on how you see me and what you want our relationship to be like, aside from being the alpha I’ve got other duties I need to fulfil and that’s making you happy” Devon said softly and he brought her lips closer to his.
They both shot their eyes closed as their lips clicked.
As they kissed they proceeded to the bed.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Devon asked and Emma smiled with a nod.
“Today’s the first time you’re asking me a question like this. You’ve never asked me before” Emma said slowly and Devon smiled.

Slowly Devon removed Emma’s clothes.

Kent got back home and he noticed someone come by.

To his greatest surprise, Charlotte was seated on his couch waiting for him.

“How did you manage to get in here? Where have you been all this while? You didn’t even bother to keep in touch” Kent exclaimed and Charlotte smiled.

“We can stay like this for a moment. I’ve waited for months just to hug someone. I’m mentally and emotionally drained, I need a hug” Charlotte said slowly and Kent wrapped his arms around her slowly.

“You’ve changed, or did I change? One of us changed because we weren’t this close the last time we met”
“You were filled with rage when you visited, I’m glad that changed as well,” Kent said and swiftly Charlotte stabbed him right in his stomach.
