CHAPTER 27
Alpha Devon and Kent head back to Grey pack.
“What do you intend to do next? Should we still lie low or should I begin an investigation?” Kent asked curiously.
Alpha Devon held his forehead with his fingers as he thought about it.
“We shouldn’t make any rash moves. Emma can’t be involved with all this” Alpha Devon said worriedly.
“I guess having someone to care for can also mess with your judgment. We can’t get the rest of them without getting Emma involved” Kent said seriously.
“And you think I don’t know that. She has the symbol so it’s obvious she will be seen as a traitor someday. Before we do anything, I have to look for a way to cast the spell out of Emma. She can’t live her normal life with that inside of her, it might even bring harm to my heir” Alpha Devon said.
“How about we get rid of those activating it against her will? That’s the best solution we can come up with now” Kent suggested.
“Will that end it? We have no idea how of them are left. Some survivors might be hanging around in all the packs”
They both kept quiet for a second.
“For now, Kent you have to go confiscate her phone and any means of her to get in contact with any werewolves outside” Alpha Devon ordered and Kent nodded.
“But will that stop her from reaching out to those she wishes to reach out to? You know how stubborn the Luna can be” Kent said.
“Don’t worry about it, I will speak with her on that when I’m done with what I’m doing. I can’t go myself right now and that’s why you’ve got to go on my behalf” Devon said calmly.
“Alright, I will get to it,” Kent said and left for Emma’s chambers.

“What are you doing here?” Emma asked coldly as Kent walked into the room.
Kent signaled the maids behind him to come in.
“What’s going on?” Emma asked seriously and she stood up.
“It’s nothing serious, milady. We’re only obeying the orders of the Alpha” Kent said and the maids head to Emma’s closet searching everywhere.
“How can you say it isn’t serious when my room is been turn upside down,” Emma said seriously.
“They’re just checking out if you have any other gadgets hidden somewhere because I have to confiscate your phone for the time being” Kent informed.
“And why would you do such a horrible thing? Don’t I have the right to keep my things and say no to whoever wishes to take them? Why on Earth will the alpha give out such others?” Emma barked.
“You shouldn’t raise your voice milady because the Alpha doesn’t do things without solid reasons so it will be better if you wait for him to come to give you an explanation himself. Hand over your cell phone” Kent ordered and Emma glared at him.
He stretches his hand out for Emma to hand it over.
Emma refuses to cooperate and he sighted the phone on the bed. He walked to the bed and picked it up himself.
“And again, you can’t leave your room for the time being. You’ve been doing that so far and I would appreciate it if you continued the good work” Kent said and left the room with the maids he brought along with him.
……
Alpha Devon drove down to his uncle’s place, Elder Crick.
“Uncle! Uncle!” Devon called out as he went into the building but it was unusually quiet.
“Uncle, are you home?” Devon asked slowly as he looked around but his eyes caught with the closed doors of his room.
Alpha Devon walked to the room and wide the doors open and the rooms were completely cleared out. There was no single sign of elder Crick there.
“He left already!” Devon uttered and closed the door.
I guess he knew I found out about his hidden truth already but why did he suddenly disappear into thin air? Grey packs have always been his shield and armor. What the hell is going on here? Alpha Devon questioned in his head and he went back into the room.
Uncle, why did you leave? Show me a sign so I can be able to protect you. Devon said in his head looking around the room carefully.
“What’s that?” Devon uttered as he noticed one of the drawers in the room wasn’t closed properly.
Alpha Devon walked to the drawer and pulled it out, symbols of the shadow pack’s secret techniques were written all over it.
“What!” Devon gasped.
Uncle was involved as well? But why would he join a group where his sister was killed? Alpha Devon asked in his head confused.
“I will get to the bottom of this uncle and I hope you weren’t an accomplice either because I will never forgive you if that happens to be the case” Alpha Devon uttered coldly and his phone started ringing.
He brought it out of his pocket and it was a call from elder crick.
“Yes uncle, how are you?” Alpha Devon asked calmly.
“I’m good Devon. I’m glad you listened to me and lie low for the time being and again congratulations. I heard the Luna conceived” Elder crick said over the phone.
“Uncle where are you right now? I wish to discuss something important with you”
“I’m at home but I don’t think you can find me because I’ve been on medication for the past few days and that’s why you can’t find me”
“How can I break a spell that was cast on by someone dead now?” Devon asked coldly.
“And what would you need such for? I made perfectly sure that no spell was placed on you by either of your parents” Elder crick said and Devon clenched his fist angrily.
“Someone close to me happened to be in that situation and that’s why I need your help uncle,” Devon said.
“What kind of spell are you breaking off?” He asked.
“The hidden symbol on Emma’s wrist,” Devon said and Elder Crick’s eyes widened in shock.
“What symbol?” Elder Crick asked almost in a shaky voice.
“Uncle you don’t have to go into many details. I know you know of the secret symbol so tell me exactly how to break the spell”
“Devon, you sound like you’re suspicious of me. You don’t possibly think I’m involved with the shadow pack right?” Elder Crick asked.
“If you’re an accomplice then you did something stupid to yourself and I don’t think you deserve forgiveness from my late mother. This might probably be the last time we speak so just text me the antidote on how to break the spell if you don’t want me to track you down and again don’t text me your side of the story, I don’t wish to hear any of it” Alpha Devon said coldly and hung up in a bit.
He’s probably beating himself up right now with guilt. I can’t let him go free. How dare he even dream of getting involved with all this? This was the beginning of our downfall and I can’t let them repeat the past. Alpha Devon said in his head seriously.
Devon checked the other drawers and he saw lots of books holding Shadow pack’s secret symbol.
“What’s all this all about?” Devon uttered and brought out one of the books and had a look at the contents of it.
Why does uncle have all these books? Devon questioned.
A piece of paper rolled out from under the drawer and he picked it up and wide it open.
“These are the exact portrait of the masked werewolves who killed mother,” Devon said and he noticed the same symbol on the hands of the masked werewolves.
Uncle was running a secret investigation on them? Devon questioned in his head a bit confused.
****
Days later Emma wasn’t allowed to step out of her room and Alpha Devon didn’t visit either.
What sort of suspense is this? Don’t I at least deserve an explanation from the alpha on what’s going on exactly? I’m basically under house arrest. Emma groaned in her head and her room door cracked open.
Some maids brought in dinner for her.
“Take it back, I’m not eating anything till I meet with the alpha so go tell him that” Emma yelled Devon walked into the room and signaled the maids to leave the food on the table and leave.
“If I hadn’t refused dinner, you wouldn’t have shown up. What the hell is going on? Why am I being locked up here? Have I committed some sort of crime that I’m not aware of?” Emma threw in so many questions as she stood up.
Alpha Devon smirked as he walked to her.
“I know you missed me so much but your questions are a bit in a hurry I can’t seem to grasp anything you just said. Do you mind repeating yourself when we’re seated?” Alpha Devon said calmly and helped Emma sit on the couch and he sat next to her.
“I heard about all your complaint but I was way too busy to even drop by. My bad” Devon said.
“Why did you lock me in here?” Emma asked looking at him.
“Do you wish to fulfill your father’s wish?” Alpha Devon asked calmly and Emma looked at him a bit confused.
“What wish? What are you saying?” Emma asked.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about and that’s ripping out my heart. Isn’t that one of your dreams?” Devon asked and Emma looked away.
“How about you try making that wish come through now,” Devon said and Emma looked at him in shock.
“And why on earth should I do that? Why should I endanger my life and the life of my unborn just to fulfill my unjustified wish? Do you think it’s thrilling to end this whole drama?” Emma asked seriously.
“Of course, it’s thrilling because I would have done the same if you were the one who murdered my mother. I wouldn’t have given you another second to live but why are you being lenient? That’s not the kind of challenging Spirit I’m after. A tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye, that’s how I deal with problems so go ahead and avenge your parents” Devon said coldly with a blank expression.
“Is this why you’re here?” Emma asked.
“Yes,” Devon answered.
“Then tell me exactly why you invaded my pack and killed my parents without hesitation?” Emma asked.
“Because your parents betrayed my mother. She fought with all her might to let your father gain the freedom of having his pack but what happened at the end of it all? Your mother and father joined hands and took my mother down for their greed. I wasn’t the one who got betrayed but I did it for my mother’s sake. She would have fought for justice if she was alive”
“But how sure are you my parents are completely at fault here? Your mother must have done something wrong to them as well for them to push through with such a rebellious act” Emma said.
“If you thought that was the case then you would have avenged your parents a long time ago. Do you think your father was all a saint? Why were you locked in doors and restricted from mingling with others? Have you ever thought of that” Devon questioned?
“It’s probably because I was their only child and they didn’t want harm to come my way,” Emma said and Devon scoffed.
“That’s crap! You’re the only child and that’s more reason why you should have been trained and given proper grooming on how to rule. What kind of a leader wouldn’t want an heir that symbol on your wrist was a spell cast on you by your father” Alpha Devon announced and Emma looked at him in shock as tears crowded her eyes.
“You grew up without worries because your parents planned on using you as bait in the nearest future. Do you know what that bait is?” Alpha Devon asked seriously.
“Killing you” Emma uttered slowly and the tears in her eyes dropped.
