CHAPTER 26
Emma pushed the alpha away from her and then looked away.
Alpha Devon smirked.
“You can speak to me in whichever distance, you don’t have to come so close to me” Emma managed to utter as her heartbeat raced.
“Since you’re my Luna, I will cut you some slack. I wouldn’t have let your actions now slide if you weren’t my Luna” Devon said and lay down on the other side of the bed.
Emma turned around swiftly as she watched him dangle his way under the duvet.
“Are you spending the night here again?” Emma asked curiously.
I don’t wish to push through with this so please head back to your room. Emma uttered in her head worriedly.
“Of course, I don’t feel like leaving tonight. I wish to spend the night here. Do you have a problem with that?” Devon asked sarcastically.
“You wouldn’t change your mind if I told you to leave so why bother asking,” Emma said coldly and then lay down.
“I’m glad you know that. Have a sound sleep” Alpha Devon said with a smile.
Emma shut her eyes with a frown.
“Don’t think too much, you’re in no position to have your mind crowded with thoughts. You can’t bring any harm to my child so keep that in mind” Devon uttered out of the blue and Emma kept mute.
Alpha Devon and Emma fell asleep after some minutes but the symbols on Emma’s wrist shone brightly which woke Emma and her eyes went wide open as it turned yellow and her claws grew out.
Her eyes landed on Alpha Devon who was sleeping lightly next to her.
Emma howled and jumped on the alpha.
Devon wide his eyes open and Emma looked at him with so much rage that she gave him a cut on his chest with her claws.
Swiftly she moved her claws toward Alpha Devon’s heart. She made to rip out his heart.
“Emma!” Alpha Devon called out and Emma held herself.
Emma tried to push through with the attack but she couldn’t because Devon stared at her passionately.
“Are you sure this is what you want? You don’t have to force yourself into doing what you don’t want. Things are changed now, we will be having a child together” Alpha Devon said calmly.
Emma’s hand hung in the air, she fought within herself to resist attacking but the other force kept pushing.
I can’t kill the father of my child. I don’t wish to be a murderer. Emma screamed in her head as she tried to break the chain forcing her.
“This isn’t what I want!” Emma yelled angrily and she pushed Devon away.
She tried so hard to calm herself down but her hand kept on reaching out to hurt Alpha Devon.
Emma is under pressure from an outer force. Why’s that? Why’s she fighting within? What force is she fighting against? Alpha Devon questioned curiously in his head with his eyes fixed on Emma and he sighted the symbols shining brightly on Emma’s wrist.
“What the hell is that? Is that a curse or a spell?” Alpha Devon uttered with a serious look on his face.
“Ahhh!” Emma yelled as she struggled to get herself together.
Devon ran to Emma and gave her a tight hug from behind as he grabbed her two hands tight. Emma tried to shove him off but he was way too strong for her.
I can’t be hurt in this state. It might harm my child. Her wolf wasn’t meant to show up in her current condition. What’s going on? Alpha Devon questioned in his head still holding tight onto Emma.
“What makes you the happiest on Earth? Don’t struggle much you will get over it just think of your joyful moments” Devon whispered in Emma’s ears and she growled.
“You can get through this” Devon added and slowly Emma’s claw went back to normal.
“Emma!” Devon called out as he noticed how calm she was.
Emma fell asleep already on his body. Devon released his grip on her and then turned around. She was sleeping so peacefully already.
Alpha Devon carried Emma and placed her on the bed gently. He stared at her for some minutes then left the room.
I’ve seen those symbols somewhere before but why’s that on Emma’s wrist? Alpha Devon questioned in his head before leaving for his study.
Alpha Devon sat on his chair at the study and then draw out the symbols on Emma’s wrist on a piece of paper.
Why do I have the feeling this symbol is related to the shadow pack’s secret fighting technique? Devon uttered as he put much thought into it.
NEXT morning…
Kent headed over to the pack house already on Devon’s call.
“Did something happen yesterday?” Kent asked curiously as he saw the little cut close to Devon’s neck.
“Something happened. I think the real assassins involved in mother’s death are still alive and they’ve somehow come in contact with Emma” Alpha Devon said calmly.
“The assassins are from shadow pack and you know many werewolves from shadow pack are very much alive but that doesn’t mean the assassins are among them. We killed them all alongside alpha Falcon” Kent said.
“It’s also possible that some of them survived and they’re trying to use Emma as a weapon against me,” Alpha Devon said coldly.
“Emma attacked you last night?” Kent asked seriously.
“Yes, she did but she tried to hold herself back. It felt like she was being forced by an outer force to do it”
“Emma has the intention to harm you if she had a chance, I’m pretty sure she was close to pushing through with her plans so I don’t think it’s right for you to think she was under a spell,” Kent said coldly.
Alpha Devon placed the piece of paper he drew the symbols.
“This is exactly what appeared on her wrist when she tried to attack me,” Alpha Devon said and Kent had a close look at it.
“This symbol looks very familiar. I’ve seen it somewhere before” Kent uttered as he tried hard to recall.
“I also find it familiar. Since I find it related to mother’s death how about we do some inquiry on the death of mother” Alpha Devon suggested and Kent nodded.
“First of all, I think you should check if the symbol is visible during the day. What kind of a she-wolf is she? Transition during pregnancy now that’s also something we should look into” Kent said and just then Emma came into the study and they both kept mute as they stared at her intensively.
“Greetings sire,” Emma said with a half smile.
“You don’t have to force a smile on your face in front of me. You already know I know everything so drops the act” Kent uttered coldly.
“Don’t put much thought into what he said. What brings you here? Hope you had a sound sleep?” Devon asked as he stood up and walked up to her.
Alpha Devon held her hand and looked at it properly. Emma moved away as her heartbeat raced.
“What are you doing?” Emma asked almost in a whisper.
“A maid told me you hurt your wrist yesterday so I was only checking to see if you’re fine now” Alpha Devon lied.
“You don’t have to worry about things like that, it was only a minor scratch but it’s healed now,” Emma said suddenly she had flashes of last night and she fixed her eyes on Devon.
“What’s wrong Emma? You don’t feel well?” Alpha Devon asked.
“What happened to me last night?” Emma asked with a blank expression and Devon signaled Kent to excuse them.
Kent left the room and Devon helped Emma sit on a couch.
“I’m supposed to be asking you that Emma. What happened last night? You attacked me, did you meet anyone recently?” Devon asked curiously and Emma looked away.
“I met someone but what does that get to do with my actions last night? Believe me, I had no intention of doing that. I didn’t even know what came over me. It felt like I suddenly became possessed or awakened by something. I don’t know why I’m sharing this with you but I just don’t want you to misunderstand me” Emma explained.
“You don’t have to explain it to me, I saw it all with my own eyes but I’m glad you’re sharing this with me. Have you ever experienced such in the past?” Alpha Devon asked curiously.
Emma thought hard about it before answering.
“I’ve never experienced it before, last night was the first time. I can’t remember much on it but I think I was in severe pain”
“Well, don’t think much about it. I will get to the bottom of it and don’t meet with anyone till I find out the source. I’m never against you protecting the lives of your remaining clan. I didn’t kill or find them because it wasn’t my intention to do so in the first place. I’m not your enemy, you don’t have to sneak around to meet with them. They also deserve to live” Alpha Devon said calmly and Emma stared at him in surprise.
Alpha Devon stood up about to leave the study room.
“Since when?” Emma asked curiously.
“I knew from the very start and I mean from the very day I invaded your pack” Devon said and left the study.
Alpha Devon and Kent’s head out to the shadow pack.
They got to shadow pack and head straight into the pack’s house.
“I don’t think we can find anything here. It’s been ages already” Kent said and Devon glared at him.
“What do you mean ages? It’s been only a few months ago. I don’t need much, all I need is the symbol” Alpha Devon said and head to Alpha Falcon’s chambers.
“If I don’t find it here then they’re still survivors” Devon added and they searched around.
“It’s all dusty. What are we supposed to find here? I can just run some investigation on the black market and we will get the answers we’re looking for. That symbol doesn’t seem like an ordinary symbol. It didn’t even appear on Emma’s wrist when you checked so it’s a spell and there’s no way you can find that here” Kent protested as he looked around.
“If it’s a spell then why would alpha Falcon cast a spell on his precious daughter? Why do you think he will do that? And why was it suddenly activated?” Alpha Devon questioned.
“Maybe because he knew he was going to die and he wanted to keep on his legacy even after his death”
“I think it’s more than just a legacy or a fighting technique. There’s more to it” Devon said suspiciously and touched the walls of the room.
“Why’re the walls so hard? Was it supposed to be this hard?” Devon questioned and then a thought crossed his mind and he punched the wall hard.
At the other end of the wall, a door cracked open.
“I guess I was wrong. We might find something” Kent said and they head to the room.
“It’s a secret passage” Kent added.
They both went into the secret passage and then came out to an empty room that was completely dark.
Alpha Devon turned on the torchlight on his phone. So many portraits and names were written on the walls.
Grey pack was written boldly in the middle of all packs.
“What’s all this? There’s nothing related to the symbol here” Kent uttered and Devon had a careful look at the portraits.
“Take a proper look at the portraits. I think the symbols were drawn out of these portraits” Alpha Devon uttered.
“What are these portraits exactly?”
“It’s the landmark of all the packs. Do you know what this means?” Devon asked seriously.
“Grey pack was their biggest target and that’s why Emma was made your fiance. This doesn’t look like a secret fighting technique, it’s more like a secret werewolf association. Come to think of it, I don’t think your father died of heart disease” Kent said seriously and Alpha Devon looked away with angry eyes.
