Realizing what had happened, Kara hurried to look for a tissue. She was very sorry.
“Sorry. I’ll clean it up for you.”
“Get lost! You’ve scalded me!”
Kara looked up and was surprised to see Jenny.
Pushed back by Jenny, she stumbled backward and hit the wall. She was in a daze when the back of her head connected the solid wall. Then a wave of nausea attacked her.
“Miss Kara, you don’t like me, so you splashed that hot water on me, right?”
Kara rubbed the back of her head. It took her a while before she figured out what was going on. Hearing the accusation, she blinked in confusion.
“Weren’t you the one who hit me?”
“Don’t slander me. I am here to get some water. But you poured the water on me deliberately!” Jenny shouted, not very confident.
Kara looked at the back of her hand that was burned and red. She frowned, not wanting to talk with her anymore.
“Miss Kara, you haven’t apologized to me!”
When Jenny extended her arm to stop her, Kara pursed her lips and stared at her coldly.
“Alright, I apologize. Are you satisfied?”
It was her fault to pour the tea on her. But she never knew if Jenny bumped into her on purpose.
Jenny did a double-take when she heard the apology. Surprised at how quick the woman gave in, Jenny looked down upon Kara even more.
“This is how you apologize?”
“How do you want me to apologize? Are you taking advantage of a five-year-old, locking me in a dark room, and trying to kill me again?” Kara fought back.
Jenny widened her eyes in shock. She did not expect Kara to find out what she had done.
“Miss Kara, don’t talk nonsense. I don’t understand what you are talking about.”
“If you don’t know what I’m talking about, how do you know I’m talking nonsense?” Kara sneered.
“You…”
“Do you think no one would investigate a five-year-old child? Ms. Jenny, you are too naïve. You’d be grateful that I always kept your secret. If James decided to look into this, you think you will get away with it?”
To avoid triggering Kara’s fear, James never asked why she went to the room. But if Kara told him the truth, James was going to teach Jenny a good lesson!
“Miss Kara, you shouldn’t say that without any solid evidence.” Jenny was on her guard.
“Well… You want evidence?” Kara took out her phone.
“Boa told me everything, and I have the record as well. If I hand it to James, do you think you will still be able to be here?”
Jenny fell silent.
Jenny gritted her teeth and squinted at her, doubting Kara’s words.
“Jenny, if you still want to stay here, you better call me Mrs. Hemming instead of Miss Kara.”
“Don’t flatter yourself. Mr. James will never marry a woman like you.” Jenny mocked, unwilling to give in.
Bang!
That was when the door of the pantry was kicked open.
Jenny turned around. Her face was ashen when she saw the tall man walking in. Panicked, she tried to explain.
“Mr. James, listen to me. She is talking nonsense. I didn’t do anything.”
“Oh, really?”
James’s brown eyes were cold and unfathomable. He looked frightening.
The meeting had just ended. He rushed back to his office in a great mood, but she was not there. When he came out to find her, he heard her voice coming from the pantry.
“Ms. Jenny, you’d better be honest.”
Seeing James, Kara knew she had a helper. She straightened her back and walked to him.
James noticed her injured hand and knitted his brows. He grabbed her little hand to check closely.
“What happened?”
The man didn’t pay much attention to the force he had put on the grip. Kara felt it hurt a little.
She sucked in a deep breath, wrinkled her little face, and glared at him.
James released his grip and placed her hand carefully in his palm. Emily had scalded the back of her hand as well. Although there was no scar, James was sorry for Kara.
“Does it hurt?” He lowered his head and blew at her hand.
“Yes, a little. I might need some ointment.”
James kissed her hand and was ready to bring her ointment.
“Mr. James…”
Staring at James and Kara’s jointed hand and her wet clothes, Jenny was so jealous that her eyes turned red.
“The SA Group doesn’t tolerate employees who misbehave!” James turned around. His voice was low, cold, and fearful.
“Yes, Mr. James.”
Nolan heard what Kara had said. It was because of Jenny that Kara was locked up in the room and injured.
Mr. James had been waiting for Kara to tell him the truth before looking into the matter. They didn’t expect Kara to investigate it on her own.
“Mr. James, you can’t do this to me. Without evidence, how could you fire me?” Jenny couldn’t take it.
Kara pursed his lips and pulled out a faint smile. “Since she can’t be fired, transfer her to another department.”
James frowned. How dare Jenny hurt Kara? He was disgusted even by seeing Jenny.
But since Kara suggested transferring Jenny to another department, she must not want Jenny to be in front of him again.
“Nolan, transfer her to the logistic department. Ms. Jenny will never come to this floor again!”
Nolan nodded. “No problem!”
Working in the logistics department meant cleaning toilets, right?
Jenny’s angry face turned red. She glared at Kara.
“I won’t go. I am a straight-A student from a famous university. How can I go to the logistic department?” Jenny gritted her teeth.
She would rather resign than be humiliated by Kara!
“Okay, then. You can resign. But you must have signed a contract when you came to work here. There must be a requirement of how long you must work for the company. If you quit, you should pay a penalty.”
Jenny’s face darkened.
James raised his eyebrows and stared at the smug look on the little woman’s face. He was her supporter.
Nolan coughed. According to the regulation, the employees could leave after handing in their resignation.
But if the company wanted to give some employees a hard time, they could pull it off without effort.
If Jenny was unwilling to leave, she could only go wash the toilet.
James didn’t want to waste time on someone unimportant. Watched by everyone here, he bent down and carried Kara to the office.
Although Kara was already used to the way he carried her, she was bashful in front of so many people. She buried her face in his arms.
Jenny fixed her scarlet eyes on the backs of the two as they left. She wanted to argue, but Nolan stopped her.
“Secretary Jenny… Oh, no. You are no longer a secretary. Now you work in the logistic department. Please return to your department, Ms. Jenny!”
Jenny was at a loss for words.
She glared at Nolan, face grim. Then she turned to pack her belongings.
When she went to her new department with her stuff, the director was packing up. At the sight of Jenny, she moved aside.
“What is your name?”
Jenny glanced around. Disgust was plain in her eyes.
She didn’t even have a desk! A storage room was all she got. And it was so dirty!
“I want this desk.”
Instead of answering the question, Jenny pointed to the director’s desk.
In the department, only the director had her desk.
The director was a woman in her forties. She had no makeup on her face, but her hair was combed tidily. The uniform she was wearing was also neat and clean.
Hearing Jenny’s words, she raised her eyebrows. Then she looked at the bucket next to the table and ordered icily.
“Get rid of the water in that bucket!”
