Randall POV
“Mr. Adams!”
My secretary kept up with me as I walked quickly. I didn’t pause and went on my way to my workplace. I sat down and just stared at her, waiting for her to say anything.
“Mr. Adams,” she said. “Miss Charlotte inquires whether she may speak with you later. She informed me she will wait for you at your and Mrs. Adams’s home.” As she stated that, my secretary became jittery. I can’t blame her because I’m always so serious when she speaks to me. My heavenly face, which I only show to Winter because I don’t want to terrify her, is the only thing that’s difficult to keep up.
I grinned as I played with the pen in my hand, even though my secretary was still in front of me. It was great, and Winter missed all the doubts and accusations she could level at me. I try to avoid Charlotte as much as possible because I don’t want Winter to join us in our fight. I don’t want to lose her… again.
I just hope there is still a time when I find out the truth. I just hope she’s still with me when I’m ready to tell her everything. I thought of all I could do to keep her by my side – to keep her from drifting away. If I could just tie her next to me, I would, but I can’t. She didn’t love me that way. We didn’t love each other in the way we had to chain one to keep the other.
So it upset me when I saw Alex again. I’m not scared because there’s a secret being kept. I fear the possibilities because of what happened between them. As I played with the pen, I thought of what the doctor had said when she had the accident. So as much as possible, I try to protect the things I can. Will I be able to cope without Winter?
“Sir?” My secretary slammed my desk to bring me back to trance. I looked at her and thought. I just get here now, then I have to go home again for something that isn’t important. I sigh. If it weren’t for mommy, I would have severed my connection with Charlotte a long time ago.
“I’ll go. I will just finish the signature. If you can force her to leave the house, do it. Tell me if we can just meet outside. Winter will be angry with me if I let her into the house.” I picked up the paper on the side of my desk and signed. My secretary came out.
When I was done, I hurried home. I don’t talk to Winter much every morning because I go to work early, but I still know where she goes because I have a guard who follows her. Now she goes to the hospital, I’m still wondering because it seems like she goes to the hospital more often. Because I was afraid that Winter might catch up with Charlotte, I hurried home.
Arriving home, the households were quiet. Charlotte, sitting on the living room sofa, made me jump while the light was off. She turned to me with a smile while I had a serious face. She can’t be here because Winter and I might fight, so I talked to her right away.
“You should’ve called me so we can meet outside. It’s not good that you just come to our house. Charlotte I understand how you feel about me but I am already married …. and we both know that I didn’t love you and what was I really felt for you back then.” I averted my eyes because I didn’t want to feel sorry for her again. Everything she did seemed to be just begging, while I was not aware that I was hurting my wife.
She smiled sadly, then looked at me. She stood up then took out the wine I don’t know where she got it. She showed it to me. “I’m going back to Paris.” She opened the wine, then poured it into the glass.
“Just share a drink with me, then I won’t bother you and Winter ever again.” She dropped the bottle of wine on the small table and walked over to me. She handed me the wine, but I just looked at it.
When she noticed I was determined not to take it, she took my hand and put it in there. She took another glass, then poured it for her. I was surprised when she suddenly walked upstairs carrying her bottle and glass. She ran as she was already on the stairs. I stepped on it to follow her, but it was too late because she had already entered. Fearing that Winter would misunderstand what was happening, I directly talked to her.
“This is the last time we will meet and you will step on our house.” I immediately sipped the wine I was holding, then looked at her. The position of her lips changed. She grinned at me and dropped the glass she was holding with wine on the floor and the bottle. It sounds on the floor. I was stunned at what she did, but before I could ask, my eyes were spinning.
She approached me but I tried to stay away. however, my body was changing its disposition, especially when she touched me. I no longer knew what was going on.
Just when she moved toward me, I could no longer see Charlotte
but Winter’s face.
