Chapter Thirty-Two – He deserves better.
Rihanna’s POV
Lana seethed glaring at the direction Chris had gone through. I tried to calm her down, there was no need chasing after him.
I’d only get myself exposed or injured but surely not killed. He had hesitation when handling me, I suspect I still had the scent of Black Hills.
Dara mind linked to me if the warriors should return. I affirmed. “Today’s training should end. That Alpha has destroyed my mood.”
Camilla, in her wolf form, crawled towards me. I was still facing the path Chris had ran through. What had made him leave his palace?
“Tell me you know why he came this far?” I asked Camilla.
“Information I got from the palace, was that the Alpha was chasing after Jake and the Delta. They were on their way home.” She said.
Chase them? Did they have an argument?
“Are they home then? Does Chris really don’t know the way to Black Rose that he came to us?” it was just pissing.
I was just getting Lana to forget about avenging him and leave a peaceful life then he showed up and attacked my warriors.
“Your Silver, won’t you ask why Chris was after Delta Jonah and Jake? I want you to ask.” Camilla snickered in mind link.
I didn’t care, much. Jake and Chris always had a little tension between them. If Camilla wanted me to know, then it would be pleasing to me.
I wanted to be pleased at the moment. I shifted to my human form and wore the gown that had been on my leg, on my body.
“What made him chase them?” I sounded less interested.
The warriors around me had clueless looks. Camilla shifted to her human form and a warrior rushed to hand her a dress.
“Delta Jonah somehow figured out my spy at Black Hills. She had been a maid assigned to him.” She started, with a frown.
That blue eyed devil, since the girl hadn’t been killed then it meant he didn’t expose her. “What about the argument with Chris?”
“My spy said Princess Vanessa found a mate.”
Mine and Dara’s head snapped at Camilla. Dara jumped down from the tree where she had been shooting arrows, an arrow was still in her hand.
“Princess Vanessa found her mate? With who? Delta Jonah or Jake Justin?” she widened her eyes.
I sighed. “It will be Delta Jonah. She has met Jake Justin before now but nothing. Jonah can’t be with her, she doesn’t deserve him.”
Dara agreed.
My head shook and I wrapped my hands around my body. The other warriors did the same. The weather was cold I told them all to go in.
Our cave was besides a river so it was usually cold. I was the last to go in.
I turned at the path where Chris had ran through again. They was no need to run after him, he will face the pain of rejection.
When he sees his sister being rejected, then he’d understand what I felt, what Ray felt.
I hoped he’d remember me when agonizing. I’d feel very rewarded if he would.
The warriors were circled a fire in the open field. It was warmer inside the cave.
“Delta Jonah insulted the princess and ran back to his pack, that was why Chris chased after them.” Camilla said, adding a scoff.
“I think I’d be nicer to him when next I see him, he knows rotten goods when he sees one.” Dara said, earning chuckles from the warriors.
My lips tugged. I felt no hint of pity for her. She hated me and made sure I was devalued by the whole pack, I lost my position as Beta.
She made her father, my Alpha, disregard me and was glad her brother, my ex-mate, rejected me. I lost my mate and happiness.
Then, she made sure her best friend became the new Luna, replacing me with the bitch Sasha. That was a blow on my confidence.
But she unknowingly gave me so much more – a pack of my own and a chance to be more than Black Hills’ exclusive silver wolf.
“We should sleep early since it’s cold. I’d watch outside with Dara to be sure Chris won’t send warriors here to look for us.” I assured.
The pint of worry on the warriors’ faces cleared off and they sighed in relief, slowly they left to sleep.
“Let’s go, Da…” I trailed off.
Right behind me, Dara was already asleep. I rolled my eyes, the weather was so cold that she couldn’t help herself.
I searched for any agile energy around me but all the warriors were asleep. What kind of sleep sickness was on the air? Cold.
I carried Dara to bed and tucked her in, took in the cheerful aesthetic of her room and left to watch out by myself.
“Finally an alone time.” I exhaled, climbing atop the cave. I could see the entire market from there and a part of the cursed Red Moon Pack.
I looked to the right and saw the vast river, with it’s signature boots of the dead.
The myth surrounding the river protected us from people who’d like to cross it hence they never found us.
Also, I made sure the warriors poured particles of silver and wolfsbane in it, every month so it’d itch. It was already unsuitable for life forms.
While my eyes were intently on the river, I noticed a glow of light coming from the forest besides it.
I jumped down from the cave and strolled towards it. The intruder didn’t have an angry energy and could be a traveler.
But with familiar a scent.
“Delta Jonah?” I gasped, when I realized the scent. My legs walled faster towards him but Lana froze me.
“Why are you excited over this guy? Want your heart to get broken again? Doesn’t he already have a mate?” she scolded in one go.
My forehead creased. What did she mean by that? She sounded like I had more than platonic feelings with the Delta.
“Should you even have platonic feelings for that man? He is an enemy. Remember how Black Rose Beta wants to catch us?” she asked.
“Yes, but Jonah isn’t that Beta. And he’d talk talk about the events of today, I’d badmouth Vanessa so much he’d hate the fact the moon goddess considered her as his mate.”
Lana laughed. “You can’t ever be his mate, you know right?”
My jaw clenched, and I hissed. “I don’t even want to be, Lana. What’s wrong with you?”
Not even waiting for response, I shut her behind my head and hurried towards the Delta.
“I rather die than do that. In fact, I shouldn’t return myself and let someone do it.” I overhead him muttering.
I stopped walking towards him. Wait, did he know he was coming closer to
my cave? That’s right, he didn’t know where it was.
Then what was he doing here? And he was speaking of dying? He went past me without noticing.
“Is he heading to the River?” I asked myself. Was this guy really thinking of dying other than accepting Vanessa?
I peeked a bit and he was actually heading to the river. There was a stab of disappointment and doubt in me. Was he really trying to die?
