Chapter Thirty-One – It.
Chris POV
My forehead creased. They were mates? Or she wanted to be sure?
“Alpha, I don’t know what the princess needs but we really need to be on our way. If she wants, we can send her a gift of the relic later…”
“The relic is precious to Black Rose, no outsider can own it.” The Delta raised his voice at Jake, who shut down.
So he had such bad temper? “You insulted my sister with your words, Jonah. Would it take anything from you to take off the necklace?”
He sighed. “Since you will it, I shall obey.” He made a small bow, before glaring at Vanessa. He took off the necklace. “Did I become a ghost?”
Jake laughed and I sighed. Nothing happened after he took it off. What was Vanessa going at?
The expectations in her eyes died but revived again when she saw the necklace in his hands.
“Give the necklace to Jake. I want you to have nothing to do with the necklace.”
Vanessa should stop.
“I don’t want anything to do with you, either.” Jonah snapped. What did he mean?
“He meant, he doesn’t want to keep following your outrageous commands. It’s just a relic, don’t believe superstitions claims.” Jake noted.
Vanessa’s eyed dilated after Jonah had snapped at her. Again, I felt there was a meaning to his words? He didn’t want anything to do with her?
“We will take out leave, Alpha King.” Jonah was back to his agile self and smiled. “Stay well.”
I nodded as they both walked away.
“Vanessa, is there something you need from Delta Jonah?”
“He doesn’t want me. But why? I am the one and only princess of Black Hills!” Vanessa stormed towards me.
I moved back as she was taking a scary form. He didn’t want her? Was she trying to push herself on him? Had she become that desperate!
“How’d he want you when you ask ridiculous things of him?” I sighed.
“With the necklace on him, I can’t be very sure if we are mates but I know we are. He doesn’t want to accept it!” she barked.
Frustration was eating her up. Was she sure of what she was saying? “How do you know? He didn’t look like he just saw his mate.”
Even if he didn’t want her, which would make no sense, there had to be a feeling when meeting a mate for the first time.
“Then had any other man been around you? I noticed him in the garden but he disappeared. I thought my wolf was bluffing but before I walked in just now, I caught the scent again.”
I had flashbacks of him looking nervous and switching necklaces with Jake when the knock came. Could it be he actually was?
How dare he reject my sister!
“Stay here!” I ordered her, pushing her on a chair. She plopped down and coiled herself in it.
I mind linked to the guards about the whereabouts of Jake and the Delta and they informed they had gone already.
“Should I prepare your horse?” a guard asked as I bounced out of my palace.
“Forget it, I’d run with my wolf!” I replied. “And alone.” I added when they were coming with me.
They went back and I sped into the forest. Jake and the Delta would not have come with horses, it wasn’t a Black Rose thing to travel by horse.
I shifted, tying my trousers on my legs. Zeke growled angrily before jumping with huge strides into the forest.
It was late in the night but I could see with night vision, I heard nothing like I was travelling in the wrong direction.
All I knew was, I was the Alpha King, whether or not I catch Jake and the Delta, I can command them to come to me.
“We are in another territory.” My wolf told me as different scents drifted into his nose, rogues scents.
We were around rogues or surrounded by them. I was surely not close to Black Rose, no rogue dared go near them.
I heard the gentle bleat of goats and guessed I’d be close to mountains, where shepherds were. And that was around Red Moon.
My run of twelve minutes brought me to Red Moon, almost the farthest place from Black Hills. Zeke had really increased his speed.
“It’s an Alpha.” I heard someone whisper.
I turned, snarling behind me. Another scent hit my nose and it was awfully familiar but it went as it came.
A part of me wanted to get more of the scent but it faded off. My wolf ran towards it, trapped by twisted desire. Desire to kill rogues?
“Kill it!” a female voice screamed. Kill it? Was I the it?
Suddenly, an arrow was fired at me. I easily dodged it. It seemed like I was the it. I growled, advancing towards the tree they were on.
The girls jumped to another tree, and another arrow was fired from a different direction. I barely missed it. I was surely surrounded.
The familiar scent came again, then a blur figure of a wolf ran away deeper into the woods. It was a Silver Wolf.
Had I encroached into Your Silver’s domain? A snarl came behind me and I turned to see three brown wolfs, of small sizes, but wild natures.
“I will not be entertaining them. It’s clear I’ve lost my way.” I sighed to Zeke.
Using my claws, I scratched at each wolf in one swipe, sending them to a tree. Another arrow was shot at me which I missed. More came down.
A wolf rose and engaged me in hot pursuit, she was fast and wild. Surely a warrior wolf, who was used to these places.
Trees popped out at different angles, it was hard to keep on running. I caught the familiar scent again and looked over me.
A silver wolf was running with me. Was it a friend or foe? The scent was familiar. Was it Your Silver? How can he be familiar to me?
Then, I got slammed to a tree by the figure. I blinked once and saw the blur image of the silver wolf in front of me. How fast was this psycho?
I purged out any sweet smell I got from him. It was indistinct. Maybe it was an ability of silver wolfs to hide their scent to trick an Alpha wolf.
“Kill it!” another girl screamed again. They were going to start a rain of arrows. My wolf was strangely unwilling to leave. Did he want to die?
But I pushed for power and dragged myself from under the silver wolf and sped away, towards the hills, where I came from.
“Don’t chase it! Let go!” the girl ordered again. It hurt my pride to be called ‘it’ continually.
Today, I met with Your Silver. He was stronger than the warriors said. Or maybe those warriors never fought with him.
He was as strong as Beta wolf, at least.
“Zeke, what was that about?”
My wolf didn’t respond. He didn’t also know what weakness made him unable to hurt Your Silver. It wouldn’t be happening again, anyway.
