Chapter Fourteen – Visit from Jaden.
Chris POV
Why didn’t they inform me before hand as well? Jake Justin was already a sly fox who always got want he wanted.
What emotional distraught would his brother be putting me in this time?
I realized that I gave no response to Jake Justin and cleared my throat. “Of course, I am on my way. He is the new Alpha of your pack, right?”
He nodded. “Yes, and we’d be waiting for you.”
There was something slightly sinister with the way he looked at me then at my record book before walking away.
Slamming my book of affirmation close, I exhaled, closing my eyes. As my eyes opened, there were red and flaming.
It was my attempt to draw energy from my wolf, Zeke. “Let’s go and rule those wolfs.” I muttered.
Getting to the court room, I saw Jake seated besides a man covered with a big black hoodie, I paused before figuring it was Jake’s brother.
He had to wear a creepy outfit. He was filled with a strong aura, I’d know. He was even eligible to be an Alpha King, if not for their alliance.
“He’s here.” I heard Jake pat his brother playfully, with high spirits and jumped up the seat he was on. He really acted like the youngest with his brother.
The young man slowly left his seat and brought down his hoodie. His green eyes first pierced into my eyes before they relaxed.
He had stronger hair than Jake, perhaps shoulder length and a more feminine face structure than Jake.
His both hands were behind his back, Jake noticed and copied him like younger siblings do.
“Alpha Chris, my greetings to you, I am Jaden.” The Young Man bowed, shortly.
Jake reluctantly bowed as well. I was pleased the man had a less proud attitude and hadn’t referred to himself as an Alpha.
I gestured for them to lift their head and they did. “Nice meeting you, Jaden. I don’t remember seeing you at my coronation.”
I rubbed it in. Why ever should I’ve been dealing with the youngest son when they was an older so? Jaden’s expression darkened.
“I couldn’t attend your coronation at that time due to unforeseen distractions, my apologies.” His voice was a flat and low tone.
I had to agree “Yes, distractions happen. Welcome to my palace. If you want, you could stay for few days.” I didn’t mean that, only that courtesy demanded it.
“Gladly!”
He agreed?! Jake looked surprised as well.
“I never got to have a good friendship with you and I feel staying for a while can blossom that.” He had a more lively tone.
He was excited to have a relationship with me? That was very unexpected from anyone from Black Rose.
I began to see him in different light.
“Um, brother, you have a pack to run.” Jake said sternly. I smirked, of course, he wouldn’t like the good relations.
“Handle it for a while, at most I’d stay for a day or two.” He patted his brother. “Honestly, this is the farthest I’ve been outside my pack.”
He went to the architectural designs on the wall and stared at it. “And as your closest ally, I think we should find common ground in things.”
I was liking this guy’s positivity and openness, Jake had all the bad traits. “Very well, I am open to that. You’d be hosted here.”
He turned away from the wall and gave me a big smile. “I appreciate the kind gesture.”
His younger brother grunted and whispered under his breath. “This wasn’t what I thought he meant by ‘let’s see our Alpha King’.”
A smirk came to my face as Jake stormed off. He returned to his pack alone and I felt very satisfied seeing him displeased.
With my knowledge on the Black Rose Pack, I knew them to be very adventurous and looked for a worthy challenge.
This Alpha of theirs seemed to have been seeing things for the first time in his life.
“You said it’s the craft of Red Bloom Pack? And it’s popular? Why haven’t I seen it before?” he was referring to a spoon I used since I was five.
“Gifted to you five years ago, very brilliant design. There’s hope for art in this world.” He cheered for an aesthetically pleasing plate.
I soon got tired of showing off my plates and cutleries. If he needed a tour, Sasha could do it, I still had pending issues on my table.
It clicked in my head that Your Silver had suddenly attacked them, I didn’t quite know why but Jake seemed to be hiding something.
Hunters weren’t important to be kidnapped by a fearsome warrior like Your Silver, he could kill them if he wanted them dead.
Jake reporting that mere hunters wee taken, only meant he needed them alive and not with Your Silver.
I cleared my throat. “Mr. Jaden.” He snapped his head at me, dropping the knife he was holding up. “You don’t mind me calling you that, right?”
“No but Jaden will do.” He replied.
His simplicity impressed me, it’d be frightening if it was an act, of course I was very sure of him.
“Your Silver is only known to free slaves, why did he go after your hunters?”
His eyes dilated, I knew something else was up. He looked down.
“Apparently, he also goes after omegas and hunters who aren’t happy with where they are. He turns them to his rogues.”
My face straightened. Your Silver took his hunters to be rogue? Since when had he been doing such?
He’d claim a lot of hunters and omegas as many weren’t happy in their current packs due to the intimidation and abuse they experienced.
“Either that, or it has to do with the Red Moon hunters that attacked years back.” Jaden quickly added, nonchalantly.
I burst my bubble of overthinking and sighed in relief. “And why’d he take those hunters?”
“Those set of hunters were the warriors that fought him then. I demoted them for their own safety but he caught unto them.” Jaden said.
“Why? Just to kill them?” It made no sense to me. “They must be something he needs them?”
Jaden hummed but shrugged. “I’m investigating the families of those captured to know. It’d be related to Red Moon as Your Silver saved red Moon hunters that year. No results yet.”
I smiled. Jaden was easier to communicate with than Jake so I asked again. “Could I be made aware of the results of your investigation?”
“Surely. It might take a while but I’d inform you.” He said simply.
I nodded amiably and took the old golden spoon that my mother was obsessed with. I placed it on Jaden’s hands. “A souvenir from the kitchen.”
His eyes lit up and he folded his fingers around it. “Thank you, I’d get more from the market. Can you take me there?” he walked away.
I was getting exhausted from the tour, we haven’t sat down for almost two hours but I sucked everything in.
Moving towards the main hall, I sighted a figure that resembled Jake climbing a horse. Wasn’t he supposed to be gone or my eyes deceived me?
The figure seemed to be holding my record book.
Jaden appeared in front of me then. “Alpha, is this palace designed with marble or bricks, I can’t quite tell.”
I was distracted and couldn’t find Jake anymore. Perhaps I saw wrong, or if my sight was right, something fishy was up.
