Chapter Thirteen – Your Silver Goals.
(Three Years Later)
Chris POV
There were five packs, including the Alpha King’s pack. The other four were under the protection of the Alpha King’s.
The Red Moon Pack was the most resourceful, both in natural resources and labor force.
The Black Rose was a kingdom-pack but destroyed their status to be under the Alpha King’s banner, hence their proud aura.
They lived in steep lands with unconventional weathers, the strongest warriors out there could be found in their pack.
The two others are Blue Bloom Pack and Blue Fire Pack, both originated from two lovers that were never meant to be but remained in peace.
But with time, the Blue Fire became aggressive and engaged in slave trade, corrupted by the Red Moon Pack.
They infected the Blue Bloom Pack as well, and enslaved smaller surrounding packs.
My father had approved of it as it created more wealth for the packs, wealth that as Alpha King he benefited from, at the time.
But now, these practices signed these packs from something deadly, something that burns – A relentless silver wolf, named Your Silver.
Numerous reports of his rampage blessed my court daily, it was almost had to keep a blind eye to it.
“Alpha!” someone rammed me out of my thinking. I turned to see Edwin, my Delta, Sasha’s brother.
He ran to me and kept his head down. “Jake Justin of Black Rose Pack has arrived.”
For some reasons, I had the urge to shit my pants. I had grown an unhealthy dislike to his name – it was an unhealthy fear actually.
What was he here for? He almost never worried me the past three years and never visited, only sent letters.
What ever was so urgent that couldn’t be written down? I nodded to Edwin. “Fine, he can come in now.”
Edwin bowed. “Yes, he’d come in within few minutes, he is talking with Beta Ray now.” He walked backwards then left.
My eyes dimmed on the ground, as I began to think. The first person Jake Justin was greeting was my Beta, Ray, and not me.
It made me more aware of the sudden loyalty some hunters were giving my Beta while disregarding me.
I was happy he had loyal listeners but they should all listen to me.
Perhaps I shouldn’t overthink it. I owed Ray a lot and he was doing his best.
“Oh Alpha King!”
I snapped my head to the door. Jake Justin still had the same way of addressing me, as well as the mocking emphasis.
As he came closer, his features became more defined. He had styled his hair to a mullet. His green mischievous eyes popped now.
He was in a warrior suit of armor and was more well built that the last time we met, his voice had also deepened.
“Long time no see my friend.” I nearly gagged at my use of ‘friend’.
Well he beat me to a reaction. “Friend? No, we aren’t friends.” He stopped in front of me with a snide grin.
I nodded. “Indeed we aren’t, so what do I owe the visit?” he should tell me so I could grant it and get on with the other pressing issues.
If any more pack informs me of Your Silver’s mishaps in their pack, I could cry and yell.
“Your Silver ravaged our hunters hide out.” Jake Justin announced.
My legs became jelly and I swiftly sat back on my chair, hiding my weakness.
“You are not serious.” I was referring to how impossible it was to stop this man, to catch this man.
“For three years, Black Rose Pack hasn’t gotten any attack from him, apart from when he saved those hunters. Why did he attack us now?”
As Jake Justin asked that question, I wanted to yell at him to find his answers himself but then, I was bound by duty to solve the mystery.
Slowly, I faced him. “Do you think there was something your hunters had done to provoke this reaction?”
He only shook his head. “Your Silver goals had been recruiting rogues and stopping the slave market. My pack doesn’t do slaves so no.”
A silent sigh left my lips, I flipped through the pages of words of affirmation I tell myself.
Maybe I should take a break for a while. But it was still awaiting me, the problems of being an Alpha King.
“Personally, I think we should abolish the slave market.” Jake Justin suggested.
Finally he was thinking for himself, I was all here for that. Even if that suggestion was rather sketchy.
“Good resources come from the slave market which you enjoy. They work and produce goods that it’s being sold to you.” I explained.
“They’d work, but as paid workers not slaves. This could please Your Silver. Currently, he’s the only Silver Wolf in our lands. The old ones died.”
More weight were placed on my shoulder. The last silver wolf we had in the five lands was the most wanted rogue and criminal. How Iconic.
“Jake, this Silver Wolf shouldn’t die. If it’s the slave market he wants off, then we should take your idea and make him happy.” I agreed.
I heard a clap behind me from Jake Justin.
“You’d agree to cut short Red Moon’s power. You’d see that apart from slaves that worked for them, they had no wisdom, nothing else.”
Very much, I wasn’t interested in their inner fights. It was becoming very popular that Black Rose and Red Moon hated each other.
The Red Moon had the slave market as support, if this would be taken from them, they’d have a hard time contributing around here.
“Whatever. Let’s do it. When it will be done, you have to agree that it’s a joint decision and not ‘my response’ to their multiple cry for help.” I reminded Jake Justin.
He chuckled. That sounded like his first ever genuine chuckle with me. He must be very happy that his rivals were losing the game.
“Certainly, I’d let them know. The other two packs would restart their fishing and crafting handworks as before.” He confirmed with me.
“Hopefully, after this, Your Silver will be settled and stop his rampage.” I sighed in relief, this move should have been done years back.
But I was stiffened by thoughts on what the packs would do. Could I still be a coward after those years?
He made a small bow and walked backwards, heading away.
Suddenly he stopped, and my heart skipped a beat, wondering what else was wrong.
“My brother is here though. I mean, it’s the first meeting and he troubled to come in person. He’s with the Luna now.” He informed.
Why didn’t they inform me before hand as well? Jake Justin was already a sly fox who always got want he wanted.
What emotional distraught would his brother be putting me in this time?
