Granny POV
I returned to the living room and I felt my heart sank immediately at no right of Olive.
She has gone?
She has really left?
With a heavy heart, I carefully sat on a single sofa in the sitting room.
Alexander is really going to regret his actions, I’ll make sure he regrets ever letting that girl go.
After a while, I was already engrossed in the TV screen when Alexander walked in, well-dressed for work.
I took my eyes back to the TV screen.
“Granny?” He called softly. I ignored him, not looking away from the TV.
I heard him sighed heavily before sitting on the armrest of the sofa I was sitting on.
“I promise I’ll look for a good girl and get married to her,” He began.
“So please, stop thinking about Olive…”
“I won’t stop thinking about her because she’s the only girl I want for you,” I butt in harshly and I watched as his shoulders dropped.
“Granny…”
“Just get out of my sight already,” I cut him short, angrily.
I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn’t turn to him. And after what seems like forever, he finally left the house.
“Foolish boy, this is just the beginning between you and me in this house,” I muttered after him.
At noon…
I walked back into the house and started preparing the food. I just finished washing Clare’s clothes.
I felt so tired, but who do I tell?
I was chopping the onions when I heard the honk of a car driving into the compound.
I shivered with fear, undoubtedly, it was mom.
After what transpired between Clare and I this morning, I never set my eyes on her since then, and I was sure she would have said things to mom, probably over the phone.
My heart beat began to race faster than usual.
And Callie, she wasn’t around. She has left the house to her friend’s house since this morning.
“Amelia!” Mom shouted from the living room.
I gulped down.
“Yes, mom” I scuttled out of the kitchen with immediate effect.
I got to the living room, and she was already sitting down on one of the couches.
“You’re welcome, mom” I greeted, with a small bow.
“How dare you slap, Clare?” She threw the question at me fiercely, and I swallowed really hard.
I heard footsteps from the stairs and I knew it was Clare. I glanced over at the direction, and truly she is the one.
“Are you deaf?!” Mom flared up as she got on her feet.
“She slapped me first,” I said in a low voice.
“She’s lying mom!” Clare shouted, and I lifted my head to look at her.
“I was only telling her to wash my clothes neatly but what I got in return really amazed me, mom” She said tearfully, which caused me to secretly rolled my eyes.
B*tch
“Have I ever touched you before in this house, Amelia?” Mom turned to me and scowled.
“You’re stupid for laying your hands on my daughter”
Ain’t I your daughter too? I almost ask.
“Now Clare, return that slap” I heard her say and my heart beat accelerated.
“Mom?” I mumbled while staring at her in absolute disbelief.
And suddenly, I felt Clare thunderous slap across my cheek over to my neck. It was really hard this time.
“Good” Mom smiled at her and my eyes became soaked.
“Now go back to your cooking, or you want me to add to it?” Mom said dryly and Clare laughed so hard while sitting down. I sniffed my tears and began to walk away.
“Hey!” Mom’s voice stopped me. I turned to look at her.
“Hurry with that food, you need to get me some stuffs at the grocery store,” She said. I nodded curtly and finally left their sight.
Kiara POV
I was laughing really hard at the funny scene displaying on the large TV screen in my room, or should I say the hotel room. Suddenly, my phone started ringing on the bed.
I groaned inwardly before standing up.
Don’t tell me it’s Nicholas, because he was the only person who now calls me now and then- so clingy.
I picked my phone.
Oh… It was mom calling, I couldn’t return her call the last time she called… All thanks to Alexander.
“Hi, mom” I said cheerfully into the phone and I think I heard her scoffed.
“Tell me, Kiara, have you found another mother over there?” She asked, seriously.
“You couldn’t even call, and you kept ignoring my calls either, is that how unimportant I am to you?”
“Is this how much you hate me?”
“Come on mom” I rolled my eyes like she could see me.
“I’m sure you’re very much aware that you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me,” I told her, sincerely.
“Don’t even try to flatter me right now, Kiara” She said, and I was sure she’s grinning already.
“It’s the truth, mom, and you know it.
“I’m so sorry for not calling all this while, the truth is I’m really preoccupied with some personal thoughts lately”
“Uh mm… Personal thoughts you can’t share with me?”
I folded my lips. Should I tell mom about Alexander already?
“Kiara” mom called.
“It’s nothing mom, I promise to tell you everything later”
“Are you certain?”
“Very sure mom”
“Okay dear, and I hope you haven’t forgotten your promise” She reminded. I itched my nape before I settled on my previous seat.
“No mom, talk to you soon” I told her and hung up immediately.
I tossed my phone on the couch and breathe out softly.
My phone buzzed almost immediately.
It was a text from Nicholas. I twitch my lips before opening it.
‘Hey babe, get ready, lets hang out tonight… Xoxo!
I hissed softly after reading his text.
I’m not going anywhere with you, just stay away from me… I shut my eyes briefly and cleared the text.
I sighed heavily.
Maybe I should just go out with him, I really need a distraction.
Amelia POV
I walked down the street, pouring my eyes out. I was heading to the grocery store, I had some cash and a list in my hand.
-FLASHBACK-
“I want a new doll, mommy”
“Why, Amelia?”
“I just got you this two days ago, isn’t it?”
“I know mommy, but this doll really scares me at night” I pout and threw the doll to the floor.
Mom chortled before carrying me up to her shoulder.
“Okay darling, your dad and I would get you another beautiful doll tomorrow” She told me and I squealed excitedly in her hands.
She smiled lovingly at me.
“Now let’s have our dinner…guess what?. It’s your favorite food,” She whispered softly into my ear and my smile grew wider. “You’re the best, mommy!
Where’s that woman who was always loving towards me? Where’s that woman that would do anything just to see me smile always?
I cried heavily, few people around were watching me, but I didn’t stop walking nor stop crying.
Why do you have to change your ways towards me, mom?
Why?!
I was really lost in my thoughts that I didn’t realize I was now at the road.
I heard a car honk, bringing me out of my thought. But before I could turn, I was knocked down by the car and instantly, everything became black.
