Towards the end of the day, that is the time for council meetings in his pack, he walked in, to the surprise of every council member. They all looked at each other shocked at his presence. They rose to greet him. He walked to his seat. He sat down and with a wave of his hand, he asked them to sit down. They all sat down and became silent. He did not say anything either.
“What is it? Is none of you going to talk again?” He said. They were all used to not seeing him in council and they were a bit confused. They did not know where to start and how to tell him what’s going on.
“My Alpha, we were discussing about furthering our trade and relationship with some more packs. There are packs out there that are grown but we are not allies with. We want to foster our relationship with them. That’s the discourse we have been having over the past one week,” a council member said.
“And when was I supposed to hear of this improvement?”
“We were going to come to you immediately, we all agreed on something,” the man replied.
“So it’s your agreement that I would have to make do with uhm? You are not going to give me much of a choice by doing so?” He said.
“My Alpha! Ever since we have not been having your gracious presence in our court, we have always resorted to doing things that way,” the council member said.
Alpha Jax cannot claim that he does not know any of these men. Some of them have been since the days of his father, and some are just recently members. But he doesn’t care so much about them.
“Where is Beowulf?” He asked of the man he left to be presiding over the council. The man who was supposed to come to him and tell him what the council had agreed on.
“He has not been in office for the last two days. He has gone on a diplomatic trip to the Night-wolf pack,” another council member said.
“Night-wolf pack?” Alpha Jax asked, alarmed.
“Yes my lord!”
“We heard they have a new Alpha,” another council member said. “And as your representative in this court, we had him go check on the new Alpha. He is to create a good relationship with them in your name!”
“What?”
“My lord! Is there anything we should be worried about?”
“Do you know who the Alpha is?” He asked them.
“We heard that he is called Shane the Fair,” the council member said. Alpha Jax sat down relaxed on his chair. He looked at all the council members. Most of them are not in support of his lifestyle of having so much sex slaves without a mate. It was against the norm but they could not say. And neither could he tell them that in the process of trying to acquire another sex slave for himself, he had taken the mate of this new Alpha, and now the Alpha is coming for him.
“He is Shane Moss. He was a beta of the former Alpha. He killed him while they were at a camp! He killed him in cold blood,”Jax said to the surprise of every council member. He knew they did not expect him to know that since it has been a long while since he attended meetings.
“Yes! My lord. And we believe the relationship with the former Alpha would have been severed. So it’s only good for us to go to him and offer him a new friendship. Keep things well between us,” the council member said. Undeniably, Jax knew that was the best course of action. But he knows what they don’t know. No matter the relationship that they create with this new Alpha, he would betray it. He already has a reason to hate attacking their pack. He had to tell them the truth.
“As superficial as this might seem, but this new Alpha of the night-wolf pack is not our fan. I and the former Alpha had a deal he was against, and that must be one of the reasons he killed him. And according to the Intel I had, he is hostile towards us. And he has been inciting other packs against us. So I say this, prepare for war,” Alpha Jax said to the surprise of everyone in the court.
