The day Evelyn left Mrs. McArthur’s house, the older woman had ran a background check on Anna’s present and past life, the only part she was unsure of, was the pregnancy, but she concluded that Evelyn would never lie and that Anna was pregnant and because of the fall out, she’s possibly hiding the pregnancy.
She called up her son and booked an appointment to see him, Allen told her he would come over to the house and see her that she shouldn’t bother coming to his office, he knew his mother so well and he would do anything to avoid her trouble and controlling attitudes.
Mrs. McArthur had called her son for the fifth time that morning to confirm and remind him of their appointment.
Allen got to his mother’s house at twelve noon, his younger sister had been the one to welcome him.
“I had to rush down her as soon as mom said you were coming.” She said excitedly.
“Hi Pumpkin, you know you’re welcome into my house, no restrictions.”
“I know, I know, I’d come for the holiday once this semester is over, uni is taking a great toll on me.” Sally whined, hugging her elder brother, he kissed her hair and hugged her back.
“I didn’t ask him to come because of you.” Their mother’s voice came though but neither of them broke the hug, instead Sally wrapped her legs around Allen who lifted her, she remained in his arm, even while he sat down.
“I want to know why you broke it off with Evelyn?”
“Huh?” The two siblings asked in unison, it was then Sally understood the situation was critical and sat properly.
“She’s not who she is.”
“Sally, not you.”
“She answered correctly, mother, do you want me to be with someone that is after what my father has built and I am continuing to build and work hard for.”
“That’s not Evelyn.” Mrs. McArthur defended.
“You only met her once mother!” Allen tried not to yell.
“But she’s better than that Anna girl, a former prostitute, don’t you know it doesn’t end there, she will always continue to be what she is.”
“Anna isn’t who you think she is, mom, as far as I’m concerned, she’s better than Evelyn.”
“Mother, you can’t choose for my brother, he’s old enough, he knows what he wants and what’s best for him.”
“Thank you Sally.” Allen said.
“What do you know Sal?” Their mother faced the younger child.
“Just because your parents chose you for father doesn’t mean you can do the same to us, I know that’s what you’re trying to do for me but it just happens that, I and Max loves each other genuinely, if not, I’d have gone against you.”
“You want to be as rebellious as your brother?”
“If being rebellious would make us happy, yes mama.”
“Did Evenly visit you?” Allen asked, raising a brow at his mother.
“Yes, she did.”
“She fed you lies.”
“And she chewed it, I am pretty sure she drank her favorite wine to step down the lies.” Sally said, chuckling, her mother sent a glare her way.
“I ran a background check on Anna woods.”
“Invasion of privacy, you don’t do that to innocent people.” Sally said.
“I should have allowed you studied medicine.” Mrs. McArthur hissed.
“Studying international studies and diplomacy is good too.” Sally replied shrugging her shoulders.
Allen facepalmed, he was getting tired of the conversation.
“You can’t marry a used to be prostitute, if it’s about the child she’s carrying and using to blackmail you, we will pay her off once the child is born.”
Allen laughed, “Anna isn’t pregnant.”
“Stop lying to me, Allen.”
“She’s not pregnant mother.”
“And one other thing?”
“Shoot.”
“Anna should resign..”
He cuts in, “resign from what?”
“From the company.”
“Why?” Sally and Allen asked together.
“Because I don’t want her around you. Don’t you get it?” Mrs. McArthur yelled.
“I don’t get it, I don’t get your point.” Allen said, relaxing back on the sofa.
“Are you going against my order?” His mother asked.
“Last time I checked, Mom, Allen own McArthur company and the real estate agent firm.” Sally answered, winking at her elder brother.
“I see you know about Anna too and you support her.”
“As long as Allen is happy with her and she treats him well, I’m good with her, not Evelyn who sleeps around. If father were to be alive, she would have fucked and snatch him from you.” Sally scoffed and rested on her brother, Allen laughed at the last statement.
“You have to fire Anna, or else..”
“Or else what mother?”
“You ceased to be my son.”
“Gladly.” Allen agreed. “It’s bout time you stopped manipulating and trying to be in control of my life. I’m thirty mother and if we can’t do it my way, then leave me alone.” Allen said as a matter of fact.
“I agree.” Sally said. “Let’s go Al, let’s go home.”
“I disown you too.”
“No issue.”
“It means we’ve had enough of your acts mom. You’ve never agreed on anything with me or what I do and if cutting ties is the only way to be totally free from your clutch, I agree.” Allen said, shaking his head.
“I agree too.” Sally said, already on her feet and dragging and brother out of the house.
Mrs. McArthur sat down, rubbing her forehead and wondering where she had gone wrong in raising her children, apart from that, she would take actions on her own to eliminate Anna.

Later that day, at seven thirty in the evening, Evelyn waited, seated at the diner waiting for Anna, they’d agreed to be there at seven and thirty minutes down, Anna hasn’t showed up yet, Evelyn hoped that she shows up so she can interact and earn Anna’s trust.
Anna checked the time, sitting on the dinning table and drowning herself in cereals, she had no intention of going to any dinner date with Evelyn, of all people, Evelyn, something told her she had something up her sleeves and she believed her instincts is the reason why she stayed back at home.
At exactly eight, there was a knock on her door, Anna wanted to be too forward to open the door, but something about the knocking was wrong, Allen doesn’t knock that way and he was the only person who visits her, she ran to the kitchen and sneaked outside, peeping from the back, she saw Evelyn standing on her porch, she entered inside her house and didn’t bother opening the door.
If there was anyone she wanted to be friends with, it won’t be Evelyn, Allen wouldn’t even approve of it, he would ask her to stay away, regardless of the fact they’re not really in talking terms, she was sure he would look out for her, that gave her hope.
