As a PR manager, Miranda returned to be calm the next second. She pulled out an envelope from her handbag and tossed it to Robin.
“Pak!”
“Take the 20, 000 dollars. I shouldn’t have wronged you last time.”
Holding her arms, Miranda was unwilling to look at Robin. In the past few days, she thought about a lot of things. She had indeed wronged Robin that morning. In fact, he had rescued her. However, she looked down on him and was unwilling to apologize.
After thinking for a while, she decided to solve the problem with money.
In her opinion, Robin wouldn’t reject as she knew about his six-month agreement with Elise’s father. Robin would never earn 400 thousand dollars relying on his security guard’s salary, so he needed money eagerly. Twenty thousand dollars should be more than Robin’s one-year salary.
He would definitely accept it.
“20, 000 dollars?”
Robin glanced at the envelope and added, “You can easily offer 20, 000 dollars. You must be wealthy. I don’t mind deducing some cost for the company.”
“What do you mean? Do you accept it or not?” Miranda asked, frowning.
“No.”
Robin shook his head and continued, “If you want me to forgive you, I will. All right?”
Then he stood up and was about to leave.
“Mind your attitude, Robin Bailey!”
Miranda stopped him, glaring at him, her eyes sparking fires. She thought he was unwilling to forgive her. “20, 000 dollars. Not enough? How about 40, 000?”
“I don’t lack money,” Robin replied.
“Your lie is too lame. You don’t lack money? Think you are the richest man in this country?”
“I am rich.”
Robin didn’t lie. The spoils of war he obtained last time cost several hundred billion dollars.
“Can you stop bragging?”
Miranda glared at him and was impressed by him again. She had thought he was an irresponsible man. However, he liked lying. He was poor, but he insisted that he was rich. She thought he was hopeless.
Miranda seethed with rage. Suddenly, her gaze fell on someone who had just entered the cafe. Her expression changed dramatically. Holding Robin’s arm, she pretended to be intimate with him and begged him in a low voice, “Please help me. Don’t shake my hands off.”
Robin darted at her anxious look and agreed.
Miranda grew up with Elise and was her bestie, so he didn’t mind helping her.
“Oops! Miranda Levis?”
Suddenly, a man’s voice sounded. Robin looked over and saw two figures in front of them. One was a man with fair skin in a white suit. The other was a good-looking woman in a long dress.
Holding Robin’s arm, Miranda replied, “Josh Moore, long time no see.”
Then she whispered to him, “He’s my ex, a jerk. He dumped me because I refused to have sex with him. Help me send him away.”
‘Ex?’
Robin understood what was happening.
“Long time no see. I can tell you have a new boyfriend. Let me introduce my girlfriend, Agnes Simpson. She’s a director of Lucas Corporation. You should know how important her position is.”
Josh Moore briefly introduced his girlfriend, his gaze falling on Robin. After looking him up and down for a moment, he curled his lips and asked, “Miranda, your boyfriend seems to lead a hard life. Is he a security guard?”
Excitement filled his eyes. In the past, he spent a lot of effort pursuing Miranda. She didn’t admit to being his girlfriend until six months later. However, she always refused to sleep with him.
In the end, he was pissed and broke up with her.
Finally, he found a good-looking girlfriend with a higher position than Miranda. He also had sex with her shortly after they started dating.
Therefore, he wanted to show off to Miranda.
According to his judgment, Miranda’s boyfriend was a security guard. He felt triumphant and almost burst into laughter.
“Uh… I…”
Miranda didn’t expect Josh’s girlfriend to be a company director. In a panic, she tugged Robin and retorted, “He’s the Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board. He put on the security guard’s uniform to inspect his company. Well, the rest is confidential.”
Honestly, she lacked confidence when hearing her own reasons.
Miranda worked for the Robin-Sophia Group, and its chairman of the board had never shown up in public. After appearing shortly at the opening ceremony, he left the scene quickly.
Therefore, although it was hard to believe Robin was the chairman, no one could prove he was fake.
“Uh…”
Josh’s smile stiffened. The Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board was a bigwig. Of course, the director of Lucas Corporation couldn’t be compared to him.
However, Agnes Simpson chuckled. “Ms. Levis, are you kidding? The Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board isn’t like this.”
Miranda froze, thinking they had found she was lying.
Robin couldn’t watch any longer as Miranda’s expression showed she was lying. He snapped in a low voice, “Silly woman! She’s testing you.”
The two opposite them didn’t hear him, but Miranda realized she had exposed herself.
Agnes had only sensed her awkward expression earlier but could confirm her guess after testing her.
‘Shit!’
Miranda’s heart tightened. However, an idea came to her mind. She asked, “Ms. Simpson, how can you be sure he’s not our company’s chairman of the board? You are not working for our company, are you?”
“I’ve seen him at the opening ceremony,” Agnes answered gently.
She was sure Robin wasn’t the Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board.
However, she didn’t know she had exposed her lie as well. Last time, Robin attended the ceremony with Elise, and most attendees had seen him. However, she didn’t mention it.
Miranda was sure Agnes hadn’t attended the ceremony last time. She chuckled, “Ms. Simpson, you didn’t attend the ceremony, did you? He’s really our chairman of the board.”
Agnes frowned slightly. She didn’t attend the ceremony for real, wondering how she had exposed herself. She was sure Robin wasn’t the chairman of the board but had no way to prove it.
If not, they had to admit it.
Right then, Agnes saw a patron in the cafe and smiled. She believed that person could help them identify. She pointed at the table and said, “Ms. Levis, I cannot prove anything, but that lady can.”
“Oh, shoot!” Miranda muttered, following her finger. Her heart sank.
