Klara Walsh was sitting at the table.
Looking at her, Miranda panicked. Klara was Jim’s secretary, the second person close to the chairman of the board besides Jim in the company.
Usually, she worked for Jim.
She could identify and prove if Robin was the chairman.
Miranda believed she would be exposed and mocked.
Narrowing her gaze, Agnes walked to the table and greeted Klara, “Long time no see, Ms. Walsh.”
Klara was as pretty as Miranda. She wore a straight skirt, looking graceful.
Klara worked for Jim, so she met many people in town. Therefore, she recognized Agnes with a single glimpse and greeted her in response, ‘”Nice to see you, Ms. Simpson.”
“Ms. Walsh is also here. Why don’t you come over to say hi, Ms. Levis?”
Agnes looked at Miranda.
Josh seemed to understand what was happening. Seeing the timid look on Miranda’s face, he mocked, “What’s wrong? You dare not greet your coworker. Did you feel guilty about something?”
Miranda couldn’t do anything but had to bite the bullet and take Robin over. She wasn’t close to Klara. Besides, it was relevant to the chairman of the board. Miranda didn’t think she would help her.
After they stood before the table, pointing at Robin, Agnes said, “Ms. Walsh, Miranda Levis is your PR manager. Her boyfriend is the Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman of the board. How lucky she is!”
She didn’t point out Miranda was lying but wished to irritate Klara.
People teamed up in the same company. Agnes believed Klara wouldn’t be pleased after hearing her words. Then she would point out Robin wasn’t their chairman of the board to expose Miranda’s lies.
Miranda would be humiliated by then.
Tilting her head, Miranda was ready for the mockery.
However, Klara smiled at them and replied, “Exactly. I didn’t know when Ms. Levis became the girlfriend of our chairman. What a surprise! Congratulations!”
‘What?’ the other three gaped at her.
“Is he… really your chairman?” Agnes pointed at Robin and repeated her question.
“Yes, he is.”
Klara nodded. Then she greeted Robin, “Good evening, Mr. Bailey.”
As Jim’s secretary, she knew Robin. When Robin was in the chairman’s office, she served him tea and ensured his office was clean and tidy. Robin seemed to be mysterious, and she heard his background was extraordinary. The Robin-Sophia Group’s chairman was only one of his identities. However, Klara didn’t know when he had become Miranda’s boyfriend.
Holding Robin’s arm, Miranda glared at Josh and Agnes and mocked, “What did I tell you? My boyfriend is the chairman of the board of our company. How can you doubt me? Alas…”
She was overjoyed while watching Josh. Finally, she vented her anger to disgrace the man who had deceived her.
Josh and Agnes exchanged a glance, looking annoyed. Then they rushed out of the cafe without bidding anyone farewell.
Klara left after finishing her coffee.
Miranda and Robin returned to their table. Miranda chirped excitedly, “Did you see their expressions? How horrible! Hahaha…”
“Let go,” Robin uttered after glancing at her hands on his arm.
“All right. All right. Think I like to take advantage of you? I’m the most charming woman in the Robin-Sophia Group. Countless men long to gain my heart. If they line up, they can stand from Stillwater to the capital. Humph!”
Miranda looked annoyed. She was a pretty woman with a curved shape, and many men wished to take advantage of her. However, Robin was an exception.
He couldn’t wait to distance himself from her.
Suddenly, Miranda recalled something and asked, “By the way, what’s your relationship with Klara Walsh? Why did she defend you? She even confirmed you were the chairman of the board. Once our company knows it, she’ll be scolded or fired.”
She didn’t believe Robin was the real chairman of the board. It was impossible.
She believed that Klara had defended Robin for some reason. However, Klara was willing to risk so much to help Robin. Therefore, Miranda doubted their relationship.
She trusted her intuition.
“Robin Bailey, I’m warning you. You still have a six-month agreement. During the six months, you are still Elise’s husband. I don’t want you to cheat on her. Or you’ll be swept out… Wait! You don’t have a penny but only rely on the Houry family. Anyway, I won’t let go of you if you dare to cheat on Elise.”
Miranda gazed at Robin with inquisitive eyes.
“Done speaking?”
Robin darted at her.
“What?”
Miranda was taken aback.
“If you’re done, I gotta go. I need to pick up Leslie.”
Robin nodded at her and left the cafe. Then he called Jim on the phone and told him something.
In the cafe, Miranda watched him vanish from her side and glanced at the 20, 000 dollars in the envelope. Frowning, she muttered, “Did he just leave like that? He didn’t take the money.”
She was confused, wondering why Robin had no crisis awareness.
“Robin Bailey, 400 thousand dollars in six months. I cannot even do it. However, I’m better than you. Including my year-end bonus, 100 thousand dollars. It’s more than your one-year total salary.”
Curling up in the chair, Miranda felt complacent.
The Robin-Sophia Group provided high benefits and compensation to its employees, especially the year-end bonus. Miranda could receive 100 thousand dollars, which was a fortune.
Suddenly, she received a call.
She checked the caller ID and saw Jim’s name, wondering why Jim was calling her after work.
She swiped to answer, “Hello, Mr. Jordan.”
“Ms. Levis, did you knock off earlier than required?” Jim asked.
“Uh… Yes, I did.”
Miranda thought the security leader had reported her, feeling annoyed. Moreover, he didn’t do it the following day but immediately. However, Miranda didn’t panic as she had just left five minutes earlier, which wasn’t a big deal.
To her surprise, Jim added, “You are the PR manager. How could you knock off earlier than required? How could you continue being a role model for your department? You shouldn’t have done it. Your annual bonus is deducted. You’ll be fined as well.”
“Mr. Jordan…”
Miranda was startled. Before she confirmed with Jim, he had hung up.
‘Did he deduce my year-end bonus? I’ll also be fined…’
It was all because she had left five minutes earlier.
“What the heck! My bonus! My 100 thousand dollars… Boohoo…” Miranda wanted to cry.
