“All pest borers!”
Robin’s eyes became steely.
“Wow! Seemingly, you want to do something to me. Haha… Who do you think you are? Do you know my relationship with the orphanage head? He’s my cousin. He had strong backers. No one could do anything to him.”
The mid-aged woman gazed at Robin in self-confidence and mocked, “By the way, has anyone told you our orphanage makes profits, too? We receive almost a million-dollar donation every year, but we take most of them.”
“Are you telling me you have money but are unwilling to cure the kids after they get sick?”
“Of course. Who will care if the rug rats are well or not? Why do we have to waste our money? Honestly speaking, Nina Houry is really a fool. She even personally pays for those kids’ medical treatment.”
The mid-aged woman laughed ironically.
“Fair enough.”
Robin pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
“Oops… Are you calling helpers? I can’t wait to see who they are,” the mid-aged woman snorted.
Suddenly, a mid-aged man wearing glasses with a gentle look walked into the yard. He was 5’7″, looking decent. Approaching them, he frowned and asked, “What’s going on here?”
“Mr. Chambers, this guy is making trouble here.”
The mid-aged woman pointed at Robin.
“Are you the orphanage head?”
Robin looked at the man.
“Yes, I am. I’m Ernest Chambers, head of Sunshine Orphanage. Young man, I roughly guessed what was going on. Why are you so nosy? Take these 600 bucks. Ignore what you’ve seen here.”
Ernest Chambers looked well-educated. He strode to Robin and shoved an envelope into Robin’s hands.
However, Robin tossed it back to him, cash scattered on the ground. “Money makes the mare go, huh? Unfortunately, I’m a human, not a mare.”
“You!”
Ernest grabbed the cash, glaring at Robin in anger. “Young man, you should know when to be sensible. Do you know who I am? I’m from the Chambers family in town. I have backers. Even if you called your helpers, you couldn’t do anything to me. Instead, I can sue you for slandering me and send you to jail for several years. Well, I’m in a good mood now. I don’t mind waiting to see your helpers.”
After ten minutes, no one arrived. Ernest sneered, “Where are your helpers? Did they escape after hearing my name? Mind you. Nothing works. No one has the guts to offend my backers and me.”
“Who are your backers?” an old man’s voice sounded.
A hand was propped on Ernest’s shoulder.
Ernest turned around and was about to snap at the man. However, seeing the old man’s face, he froze. “Good day, Mayor Hanson,” he greeted the old man in a trembling tone.
The old man behind him was the mayor of Stillwater.
Then Ernest looked behind him and greeted others while shivering, “Hi, Mr. Jackman, Mr. Bean, Mr…”
Ernest gaped at them in fear.
Those were all superior officials of the Stillwater government. He knew every one of them. Their every single word could impact Stillwater, but now, they gathered in his orphanage.
“You are just a head of an orphanage. I wonder how competent you are. Check him,” Mayor Hanson flicked his hand and ordered.
Although he was in his fifties with gray hair, he emanated a majestic aura.
“Yes, Mayor Hanson.”
A police superintendent behind him led his team to investigate.
“Colonel Reczek,” Mayor Hanson called Jeff.
Jeff walked to Robin and saluted him. “Salute, Sir!”
“Who is he?”
Mayor Hanson and other government officials were shocked. They received calls from Jeff and rushed to this orphanage. Once they entered, they happened to hear Ernest’s arrogant statement. They obeyed Jeff because he was an influential colonel from Fort Eastern.
At the critical moment, Jeff could even control the whole city of Stillwater.
Much to their surprise, Colonel Reczek’s supervisor was also in town. They realized that Robin was a general from Fort Eastern.
“Salute, Sir!”
Mayor Hanson and other government officials trotted to Robin and saluted him formally.
‘Gosh!’
Ernest was startled while watching the scene. Those superior men respectfully greeted the young man from nowhere.
Ernest wondered if the young man was superior to all of them in a panic, realizing he was in big trouble this time.
Even if his family came over, he would be doomed. In fear, Ernest collapsed to the ground. Blood drained from his face, and cold sweat oozed on his forehead.
The mid-aged woman also broke down, sitting on the ground in fear.
She had thought the young man was a poor guy from nowhere. However, he was a man of status.
“Here are my commands. First, check this orphanage. Find out the head’s backers completely. I don’t hope to see such borers harm the children. Second, investigate the education field and eliminate borers. No one is allowed to take advantage of it. It’s the matter of our country’s foundation,” Robin directly commanded.
Mayor Hanson and others were taken aback as they couldn’t guarantee to clear up the education field. They were the officials in Stillwater only. Robin added, “Jeff will assist you.”
“OK, Sir!” the officials agreed after exchanging a glance.
Right then, the police superintendent returned with his team and reported, “First, we found a lot of rotten food ingredients in the kitchen. Most of them have expired or molded. Second, we found the children living in a dirty environment and wearing dirty clothes with many germs. Third, all children are abused as we found wounds on them. Fourth, the accounting book has problems…”
The police superintendent was professional, so he and his team found bunches of problems after the investigation.
“Bastard!”
Mayor Hanson was enraged, looking at Ernest. “How bold you are! It’s a small orphanage, but you make an almost-million-dollar profit each year. You are indeed pest borers. Check them in detail.”
Watching the scene, Robin consoled the children for a while and left the orphanage with Jeff. Tilting his head, Robin said, “You arrived fast this time.”
“I happened to be nearby, checking the matters you wanted to know last time. I found some clues. Those criminals refused to answer my interrogation first. However, I used certain means to make them confess. I confirmed Lucas Corporation was behind them, and they were sent by Reginald Lucas,” Jeff reported.
“Lucas Corporation. Reginald Lucas.”
A murderous look flashed through Robin’s eyes.
