Chapter 46: How Nina Spent the Money

After arriving at a ward, Robin followed Nina to enter.
There were six patients, all children aged five or six. Seeing Nina, they greeted her sweetly, “Hi, Nina.”
“Nina!” a girl stood up and greeted Nina, too.
She was taking care of the children. Robin recognized the girl as he met her when he picked Nina up from the university last time.
“How’s it going?” Nina asked her.
“The child is sent to the operating room, but we haven’t paid the surgery fee yet. We’ve borrowed money from everyone we know. Now we have no single penny.”
The girl threw up her hands anxiously.
“I’ll pay the bill.”
Nina coaxed the children and played with them for a while. Then she asked Robin to follow her to the cashier’s counter. According to the paycheck, she paid 180, 000 dollars as the operating fees for seven children.
Then they went to an operating room.
“Now you should know how I’ve spent the money,” Nina said.
“Are they all orphans?”
Robin didn’t see the children’s parents.
“Yes, they are. My classmates and I volunteered in their orphanage. Somehow, seven children got sick and needed to have surgery. That’s why I want your portion.”
Nina lowered her head.
Robin understood everything and knew she had done it out of her kindness. Rubbing her hair, he said, “Forget it, Nina. It’s no big deal.”
“Stop rubbing my hair. I’m not a kid.”
Nina dodged, glaring at him angrily.
“What a touchy nut!”
Robin chuckled. He was worried she had overspent the money on something terrible. However, she used it to save the orphans, but she didn’t find a wise way.
Suddenly, Robin reminded her solemnly, “Don’t borrow the usury again in the future. With the high interest, your 100, 000 dollars has become 600, 000 dollars. In a few months, you’ll own them six million.”
“I got it. A boy needed the surgery urgently at that time, and I lacked money, so I had to do it.”
Nina didn’t retort to Robin. Evidently, she realized she’d made a mistake.
“By the way, can you go with me to find Doug? I can pay back 80, 000 dollars first. It’s weird. He hasn’t bothered me for several days.”
Nina tugged Robin’s sleeve.
“No problem,” Robin agreed.
Doug didn’t bug her in the past few days because he had been scared by Robin.
They headed for the University of Stillwater and found the commercial street to the left. According to Doug, he owned the whole street and was wealthy.
Otherwise, Robin wouldn’t have easily robbed him for one million dollars last time.
After arriving at a casino, Nina pointed inside and said, “We met Doug here last time. Mind your temper. He and his men are all gangsters.”
They entered and saw many bruisers playing pokers or mahjong while smoking.
“Compared to them, you look indeed decent,” Nina remarked, her gaze sweeping between those gangsters and Robin.
The latter looked not bad and stood upright. Besides, Robin always gave her a sense of security.
Nina believed he was much better than the gangsters.
“Who are we looking for?” Robin asked.
“A man with a scorpion tattoo on his back. His nick is Scorpion, Doug’s most trusted henchman. He’s in charge of this commercial street. I heard he used to fight against dozens of gangsters alone. Be careful. Don’t…”
Nina wanted to warn Robin not to offend Scorpion, but it was too late.
Robin patted Scorpion’s shoulder and asked, “Hey, dude. Where is your boss, Doug? I want to talk to him.”
“How dare you touch me! Don’t you know I hate to be touched when playing mahjong?” Scorpion snarled darkly without looking back.
“We’re doomed.”
Nina flinched and paled. She hadn’t expected Robin to be so reckless and annoyed Scorpion once entering the casino.
The person who had done so was still lying in a hospital.
Immediately, she decided to break him off with Elise again, afraid he would bring trouble to Elise.
“Holy shit! Again? Scorpion has been indeed moody recently. He has hit several men. How dare this brat offend him!”
“He went on a mission with Boss last time but failed. Most of the guys were injured last time.”
“Anyway, this brat is so doomed. He has the guts to provoke Scorpion like this. I’m afraid he’ll be sent to the hospital soon.”
Most bruisers mocked Robin, watching the fun with interest. They couldn’t wait to see how miserably the man would be beaten.
As they expected, Scorpion was furious. He grabbed the bear bottle next to him, turned around, and glanced angrily. Then he smashed the bottle on the table corner.
“My gosh!”
Nina covered her eyes.
Everyone heard a loud bang. Nina’s heart trembled. She wondered if Scorpion had smashed the bottle onto Robin’s head and yanked up her head to check. However, she gaped.
So did all the men in the casino.
Robin’s head wasn’t smashed, but Scorpion’s was. Bear and blood mixed on his hair.
However, the onlookers were shocked because Scorpion smashed the bottle onto his own head when he saw Robin.
Then he knelt.
“Sorry, Sir!”
All the onlookers widened their eyes, wondering what was going on. Scorpion was Doug’s most trusted henchman, a fierce fighter. Back then, he had won against over a dozen gangsters in a fight alone. However, he knelt to the man.
“I want to talk to Doug,” Robin repeated, nodding at him.
“All right. All right. I’ll inform Boss now.”
Scorpion hurriedly stood up, staggering to look for Doug. Fear was written all over his face. Earlier, he didn’t look back, so he didn’t recognize Robin. However, when he turned around, he found Robin was the man who had extorted one million dollars from Doug.
He recalled the man used to drive a heavy tank.
That man’s subordinate had easily won against Doug’s one hundred henchmen within one minute.
Scorpion didn’t expect Robin to appear in his casino and was freaked out.
“What’s going on?”
Nina walked to Robin with a baffled expression.
“Beats me.”
Robin threw up his hands. “Probably, he was scared by me and realized he had done too many evil deeds. Then he decided to be a good man.”
