Bryan mentally rolled his eyes ” why didn’t you discuss with me first before going ahead with the announcement. You can’t just cancel the fight Alpha ”
Raphael glared ” Are you questioning my orders, Bryan?”
Bryan bowed ” I apologize Alpha. I shouldn’t have said that ”
Raphael rolled his eyes ” I can’t put my people’s lives at risk. They need to be protected and that’s the best option. Whatever event that will always attract an audience should always be avoided not until they are caught. I can’t risk their life just like what happened in the previous even that once happened. You also knew what happened so why are you now questioning my orders when you know that is exactly what should be done ?”
Bryan stood from one foot to the other. He felt stupid right now and the king knows how to make one feel worthless. Brian felt worthless and it’s so irritating when the feeling came from the king.
” Pardon me Alpha ”
” You’re pardoned. Just make sure you follow as I say and if you decide to go against my word, be ready for whatever punishment that’d be placed upon you”
” I’ll follow your command ”
” You can leave ” The Alpha dismissed him making the hatred Brian had for him increase. One thing Brian hates is to be treated like a child.

Melissa’s pov
The king has a kind heart. Whatever he says, he says it to protect his people. He is a true leader and nothing is as good as having a leader who is ready to go beyond all odds for his people. I blushed thinking about how his lips moved with every word he says. He has beautiful lips, gosh.
I can’t believe he’s close but far again. Why can’t I just have my mate with me right now? Why do I have so many bad lucks? People are happy with their mate but I’m here trying to hide who I was from my mate. It hurts a lot not to be able to talk to him the way I want to. It hurts not to be able to hold him tight, not to be able to kiss him, to sleep in the same bed with him. It hurts.
I sighed loudly, facing the wall.
” What is wrong with you Melissa? You’ve been quiet since we came in. Is there something bothering you or is it because the flight is canceled?” Ashley asked as she stared at me.
I exhaled loudly. The truth is, I wasn’t worried that the flight was canceled. It didn’t bother me one bit at all. All I care about right now is my mate and how to be with him. How I want to tell him the truth about us. I wish I could tell her all this but I can’t. Instead, I said,
” I just feel so tired that’s all”
She gave me a calculating look ” are you sure? Because what I see is more than just tiredness. Things are bothering you”
I know how Ashley won’t let this pass so I said ” ok fine, I’m beginning to miss my parents. I wonder how they’re doing right now. I wonder if they’re still looking for me or if they have their mind made up about not finding me again. I just want to see them”
This shut her up. She sat back on her bed looking sad ” I understand how you feel. I also feel the same been having a thought for a while now and I think it’s time I share it with you”
I was alarmed ” what is it about ?”
She sat upright on her bed ” What if we try seeking help from the king. Let’s tell him the truth maybe he’ll help us. Don’t you think so ?”
My heart skipped a beat ” What!”
” Yes Melissa, I know this might sound stupid but it can work out ”
I didn’t know how to explain to her that my parents will be hurt along the line and I can’t risk it I’d be happy if she gets help but her freedom will implicate me and I don’t think I’m ready to risk it.
” I don’t think that’s the right thing to do Ash” I tried saying.
Ashley got up from her bed, she paced around the the ” It from for us Melissa. I don’t think I’m ready to go back to that pack. We have few days left before our days here will be over . we should act fast about it “.
Yes she was right, how staying here is about to come to an end and the worst of it all is that I don’t have any news for Alpha Ronald. This is the time I need to find more information
” Ashley, don’t you think this might be a bad option for us? Especially now that they have issues with rogues and stuff. Let’s not allow the king to see us like some ingrates. I know how you feel and I also want freedom for us so please let’s wait for a little ”
Ashley thought about it ” yes, you’re right but we still need the king’s help or wait, let’s seek help from the Beta”
My eyes bulged out. This was like asking for a devil’s help, never ” Definitely not. We can’t just trust him. At least we’re sure of the king but the Beta looks kind of shady. What if he’s working for Alpha Ronald? What if ?”
” Then what do you suggest we do then ?”
” The only option we have right now is to look for ways to extend our visit here. I don’t want to go back so soon ”
” Me too Melissa. I don’t want to go back yet ”
” Good then, let’s keep a watchful eye before doing something we might end up regretting”
Ashley pouted ” you’re always right ”
” I know right ” thank goodness I was able to stop her. I can’t risk it right now. We can’t just trust anyone yet.
” So tell me something I need to know, ” Ashley said as she glanced at me
I furrowed my brows confused ” and what could that be ?”
” The fight, how do you feel after it was canceled?”
I snorted ” Really I felt as if a weight was lifted my shoulders. Anyways, I wasn’t prepared for the fight ”
Ashley laughed ” but you know she might have won the fight if it pushed through”
I felt belittled ” What do you mean? Practice makes perfect. If I’d practiced for the fight and if the fight had pushed through, don’t you think there is a possibility of me winning the fight ?”
” Well, what can I say. We all can’t predict unless you two are seen in action ”
I rolled my eyes ” whatever. I don’t know what’s the big deal with that lady Rosie. She annoys me a lot. At times I wish I can drag her hair out of her head”
Ashley raised a brow ” Calm down tigress. That lady has done nothing to you yet so why hating “.
” Maybe it’s because she is just too overconfident of herself. She gives me this vibe that she is not who we think she is .” I said. I tried as possible to watch what I say. I wouldn’t want Ashley to start suspecting anything
” That’s left with her. I like her though”
” I know you do” I rolled my eyes.
” She’s leaving the kind of life I’ll love to live. She is pretty and intelligent. She can also pass on as a Luna. I’m sure the king might end up mating her ”
My wolf unexpectedly growled out, surprising Ashley.
” I’m sorry. I don’t know why Lisa behaved like that ” I apologized.
Ashley nodded but was still confused ” I hope it’s not because of what I said about the king Alpha ”
I snorted pretending as if it wasn’t the problem ” not at all. She needed a favor from me which I didn’t grant, I’m sure that was why she acted like that ”
Ashley waved it off ” our wolf can be a lot to handle at times. Lisa is even more lenient than Jenny.”
That was how I was able to change the topic. We ended up falling asleep for a while before finally going to our various workouts. It’s been a while since I last worked, all because of the practice I’ve been going to It felt foreign going to work now.
