Kayden’s POV
“We… We are sorry Alpha Kayden.” They both fell onto their knees but they should very well know that I would never change my decision.
“I would not love to repeat myself,” I mumbled and tapped on the button that was glued to the wall.
Three wolves came in almost immediately.
“Take them away, get their legs cut off,” Davis repeated the order knowing very well that repeating myself was not something I loved doing.
“Any other thing?” I asked when he still stood by me.
“I was just thinking about how we can get this done,” he replied.
“We would be going to the attacked pack, I have something to check out.”
“Yes Alpha Kayden.” he bowed slightly.
“What do you want to get checked?” He asked.
“The slave hunters must have penetrated through the back door, I will be checking the back door out myself,” I replied.
“Your wisdom is unexplainable Alpha.” he complimented.
“And yes Miss. Lauren sends her greetings to you,” he added.
“I don’t want to hear anything about her.” I gritted.
“Yes Alpha,” he replied and turned to leave.
“You went to the mansion?” I asked him.
“Yes, that was where I met Miss. Lauren,” he replied.
“How is everything going there?” I asked, being as random as possible.
“Going very well, Lauren has a good heart, she had all the maids have a day off… Well except two,” he replied.
“Two? Cassie and Mantha?” Jay questioned just the exact thing that crossed my mind.
“Who are those two?” I asked him, anger slowly rising in me.
“I… I have no idea.” Davis replied and I got off my seat, pushing the seat into the wall making it crash.
“I asked you a question, one I would not accept I have no idea as the answer.” I seethed and he moved backwards.
“I heard Lauren call one of them Cassie,” he replied and Jay growled loudly, the black in my eyes was getting lost gradually.
Lauren was pissing me off!
“In what state are they in? Why are they also not on the day off?” I asked, managing to get out my words as words and not as growls.
“Cassie is weak, Lauren said she is sick and that is why she is not having the day off.”
“Forget about Cassie! What about the other girl? She is taking care of Cassie, right? She is still okay?”
“The… The…”
“Get your words out, Davis!” I slammed him against the wall.
I didn’t know what was taking hold of me or pushing me towards acting this way.
“The other maid I saw was unconscious with bruises on her body,” he replied and I let go of him.
“Book me the flight back home! Now! At this instant!” I yelled at him and he bowed slightly before running out of the room.
I ran a hand through my hair.
Lauren is really brave now, isn’t she? She dares to go against my words! I grabbed the table hard, breathing heavily.
Mantha, for all I knew, was a fragile girl. But then, why didn’t she place a call across?
“That devil you call your friend took the phone away from her.”
Samantha’s POV
My eyes opened slowly, I was on my bed in the quarters. I looked over to Cassie’s bed and she was there laying down peacefully and having a good sleep, there was an empty bowl by her side which indicated that she had eventually been fed.
I looked at my table and there was a bowl of food too, the food was very little but I had no strength to complain. I grabbed the bowl of food and rushed the food into my stomach.
I downed down the glass of water beside it and breathed out in relief. I felt a bit better, I looked at my leg, it was covered in different bruises definitely from climbing up the tree and falling to the hard floor.
I rubbed my hurting head for a while before getting out of bed.
I was almost in the living room when I heard Miss Lauren and Miss. Melissa’s voice.
“If Davis has gotten to Kayden and told him that Samantha and Cassie are being brutalised by us, we are going to be in trouble.”
I stayed back to hear more of their discussion.
“Alpha Kayden is going to come back for us and perhaps kill me.” Miss. Melissa’s trembling voice came.
“This is what we do, we have to get the doctor to attend to the both of them as soon as possible. I’d threaten the both of them not to say a thing to Alpha Kayden, the bruises on them will be blamed on them climbing the orange tree.”
“You think they would keep quiet?” Miss. Melissa asked.
“Of course, they would, with a little bit of more torture they would give in… Now, all we have to do is wait a bit more….”
“A bit of more torture? Is that a solution? It would cause more bruises.”
“We just have to make Kayden see the doctor treating them and hey… Not all torture cause bruises, not all.”
My legs shivered, I did not think I could hold on for another round of torture and even if I could, Cassie would be unable to.
“Cara, what should I do?” I asked.
“You have to get away, we have to run away from them,” Cara replied with a small whimper.
I rushed down back to Cassie and woke her up.
“We have to run away for now,” I said to her.
“What… What’s going on?” She asked but I just had no time to explain things to her so I carried her and slung her across my arm.
I did not know where I got that strength at the moment but I was very well aware of the danger lurking around.
I sneaked out of the main building. It was sure that I could not get out of the mansion entirely but we could at least hide.
I ran off to a small garden that looked even more enclosed and dropped Cassie there.
“Alpha Kayden might be coming back.” I broke the good news to her first.
“Really?” Her face lit up.
“Yes but Miss. Melissa and Miss. Lauren is trying to cover up all that they have done for us. They want to torture and threaten us to make us keep quiet.” I explained to her.
“Those devils!” She spat and along with that came a bolt of thunder and lightning.
In seconds, the heavens let loose and rain began to fall heavily.
At that moment, I was quite sure that in all, the heavens just hated me.
