Lauren’s POV
What a silly and stupid girl! She deserves all the hate in the world and hell! She tries to go against me and have a meal.
“Get her up,” I said to Melissa and Melissa walked over to Samantha.
“She is unconscious,” Melissa said to me.
“Just dump a bucket of water on her and be careful… None of Kayden’s men at the gates should see her, we would be exposed if that happens.”
“Shouldn’t we just leave her to die here?” Melissa asked.
“It’s easy, we could just tell Alpha Kayden that she fell off the tree.” she said.
“And you think Kayden would believe that?” I chuckled.
“Get her away, her presence irritates me. Just take a look at this ugly face that wants to take Kayden away from me.” I rolled my eyes and walked away.
I walked into the living room and sat on the sofa, watching movies when the door opened, it was Beta Davis.
“Good day Lauren,” he said to me with a small smile on his face.
“Why is this place so empty?” He asked.
“It’s nothing,” I replied.
“Nothing? Is Alpha Kayden in?” He asked.
“Nope, he went on a vacation, you were not informed?” I asked.
“I was misinformed, I thought he would be leaving today,” he replied.
“Oh, he is not around anymore,” I replied.
“Then I would take my leave,” he replied.
“I would have offered you something but then I had the maids have a day off, they have been working hard yunno,” I said with a smile and he nodded.
“That’s good, you have a good heart Lauren,” he replied.
“If only Kayden thought that way,” I mumbled audibly.
“Oh about that, I would try to put in some good words for you,” he said and I smiled widely.
Just at that favourable moment, Cassie, the girl who was always with Samantha walked in from nowhere, she was crawling as she held on to things to keep her weak legs standing.
“Good morning,” she mumbled.
“What’s going on here? Why is she this weak?” Davis asked, raising a brow.
“She is just a bit sick, that’s why I had her stay back at the mansion while the others are away, the doctor would be here very soon,” I told a smooth lie.
“Okay then, I would take my leave.”
“Sir….” Cassie tried to speak.
“Cassie, to your room.” I cut her off and walked to Davis.
“I would lead you out.” I smiled at him.
“No need to do that, I am fine going out alone.”
“Won’t it be a bit rude if I don’t lead you out?” I asked, being extra polite.
“Not at all, you have you rest and take care of the sick maid,” he replied me.
“Thank you then, beta Davis.”
I returned to my seat and stared at the door till Davis was out. I let out a sigh of relief.
“Something is wrong with you? Why did you come out?” I asked, walking towards Cassie.
“I….” She started but the glare was enough to keep her quiet.
I clasped my hand over her neck, holding her neck tightly.
“Next time, you try to show yourself this way to implicate me, I won’t just be choking you but I will be killing you.” I threatened and let go of her.
She slipped to the floor coughing violently but I cared less. The door opened and Melissa walked in, carrying Samantha with quite a lot of effort.
My mind went back to Davis and I could only hope that he did not see her.
“Did Davis see you?”
“He… He saw me carrying her.”
Hell!
He might tell it to Kayden!
Kayden’s POV
I mind linked with Davis.
“Where are you?”
“At the airport, I would be with you soon Alpha,” he replied.
“You’d better have good news.” I ended the mind link and ran a hand through my hair.
It was jumbled up thinking about work and thinking about the slave hunters.
“Kayden, over here.” mum waved at me.
“I would take a nap. When Davis arrives, ask him to meet me in my room.” I replied to her and walked away.
“Again.” I heard mum grumble.
“Such a stubborn son,” Dad mumbled but I ignored their words and went into my room.
I lay on my bed and looked up into the ceiling. I brought out my phone from my pockets and stared at it for a split moment.
The fact that there were no calls from Mantha was proof that she was doing fine, right?
I brushed off her thoughts of her and grabbed a pen and a book, I checked out the picture of the attacked pack’s Mansion.
There were only two exits in the entire mansion and according to my findings, at least five wolves were stationed at the front exit and three at the back exit. For the slave hunters to access the mansion, they must have chosen the back exit for its much more concealed location and lesser security.
Seems like I would have to visit the mansion and check the back door myself.
“Alpha Kayden.” I heard Davis voice and I sat up.
“Alpha Kayden.” two other wolves chorused but I paid no attention to them.
“Any news?” I asked.
“We were about to get the missing beta, seems like he ran off intentionally but as we were about to get him…..”
I raised a brow at his pause.
“The both of them let him slip away” he finished and my eyes darted towards the two who were shivering already.
I sucked in my cheeks and bit my lips so hard that I could taste my blood. Jay growled in threat to get rid of the two in front of me.
“How?” I breathed out the word.
“They found him but were extremely slow in chasing after him, they could not catch up with him and gave up running after him after minutes. ” Davis replied.
“Incompetent legs, right? Since your legs are so slow and incompetent, they are useless. Get their legs cut off.”
