Chapter 48

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Lauren’s POV
I sat in the living room with a cup of wine in my hands.
“This wine is really good,” I said with a smile.
“What do you want to do Miss Lauren?” Melissa asked me and I looked up to her from the wine I was holding.
“What do you mean Melissa?” I asked
“I mean, you saved Samantha and Cassie from the others when I had told them to throw things at them at your command,” she replied and my smile grew wider.
“Because that is exactly how you do things,” I replied and sipped the wine in my hands before dropping the cup on the table.
“Here… I have the clip of me saving her.” I started, throwing a USB to the sofa.
“When Kayden comes back, he would want to know what is wrong with his maid… With this clip, I can completely convince him that all I did during his stay was to protect Samantha.” I replied and she clapped.
“Incredible… But then, won’t Samantha tell him everything?” Melissa asked and I smirked.
“She will only tell me him when she sees him, right?” My lips curled up even more.
Samantha’s POV
On their faces are surprise mixed with shock. It was the first time I would be having an outburst. All my life I had spent keeping quiet but then this was getting too much.
I grabbed Cassie’s hands and pulled her out of the dining room. We both walked back to the quarters and I plopped to my bed, still angry and annoyed but still a bit pleased that I had at least given them a piece of my mind.
“You were super cool there just now.” Cassie complimented.
“Really?” I asked with a small smile.
“Sure, the shock and surprise on their faces, you did things the exact way it should be done. here, high five,” she said to me raising her hand the air.
My palm met hers as I grinned at her and then my stomach grumbled.
“Perhaps just telling would have done it, we should not have stormed out.” I chuckled and it was followed by Cassie’s stomach grumbling too.
“Going back to eat would be so shameful right now. We have our pride, we would rather remain hungry,” she said and we both climbed up to her bed without saying another word.
My hands grazed my cheek, it was still a bit red from the slaps I had received. If Alpha Kayden was here, all these would definitely not have happened but then he was not here and I had to do things on my own, I wish I could at least be like the others, have a normal life without having to be this unfortunate and surrounded by haters.
I sighed deeply.
“Don’t think about it, let’s go to sleep.” Cara urged and I wrapped myself up in my blanket.
Only one thing was still yet confusing to me, Miss. Lauren completely hates me but then why did she stop the others from throwing things at me?
I looked at Cassie who was looking at me too, it seemed like she had the same question in her mind too.
“Miss Lauren stopping them from throwing things at us?” I asked.
“Exactly what I am thinking,” she replied.
“She hates us, why would she do that? Does she have a tiny sense of justice?” I asked.
“Sense of justice?” Cassie scoffed.
“She took your phone from you, slapped you multiple times, accused you of stealing. Is that something someone with a sense of justice would do?” Cassie rolled her eyes.
“Then what do you think?”
“That witch, I can only think that she has a purpose for doing so. Witches like her always do have a trick up their sleeves.” Cassie replied and I slowly nodded.
“If she has a trick up her sleeves, then that means we should be on the lookout,” I said to Cassie and she nodded repeatedly.
A group of maids walked into the quarters and we both went quiet. Seems like even Cassie has learnt to keep things safe by keeping quiet when others are around.
The next day.
I woke up feeling extremely hungry. Cassie was standing hovering above me, holding her stomach too. It was quite evident that she was hungry too.
I was quite used to going hungry since I was with the slave masters so this feeling was not so strange to me but on Cassie’s face was some proof that she was not used to this.
“Good morning, are you okay?” I asked her and she nodded with a forced smile.
“I am,” she mumbled.
“No, you are not. You are hungry, right?” I asked her and she nodded.
“I am too but then how can we get food? You can’t possibly work in this state.” I said to her.
“I have no option, you can’t get food if you are not done with your morning work. Luckily, Alpha Kayden’s large room has been locked by him so we could just get another small portion to clean.” Cassie replied with a grin as I got up from my bed.
We both took a rushed bath which kind of helped to soothe our hunger anyways.
We dressed up in our uniforms but then I found it strange, no maids were working anywhere.
“Cassie, what do you think is happening? Where are all the maids?” I asked and she shrugged still looking around.
“I have no idea, they are all supposed to be around.”
“Do you guys get a vacation?” I asked her and she nodded.
“We do… But then just about three people do, the best of the year and it’s not even that time of the year for the vacation,” she replied.
“Then where is everyone?” I raised up my hands.
“Perhaps….. They are cleaning some other place that we don’t know about?” I asked.
“And then leave the major parts of the mansion dirty? Impossible.” Cassie countered.
“Cara, what do you think is happening?” I asked.
“Maybe the maids have been given a day off.”
“Then a day off for us too?” I asked her.
“No Samantha… If that is the case, remember who is the boss right now, she would never give the both of you a day off.” Cara replied and I reasoned with her.
“Oh, you are here. Samantha and Cassie.” it was Miss. Lauren’s voice.
“Good morning ma’am.” we both greeted with a bow.
“As you both can see, no other maid is around. I have given all a day off,” she replied to us.
“You are so right Cara.”
“Does that include the both of us?” Cassie asked.
“Of course not… You, Samantha, stole and you Cassie aided her crime,” she replied and I held Cassie’s hands.
“Just a day off, who needs it? We are fine without it.” I whispered to Cassie who was tightening her fist in anger.
“We would leave now ma’am,” I said.
“Hey back here, since all maids are absent, the two of you as your punishment would clean the entire mansion and make the meals,” she said and my eyes widened.
This mansion was just not a place that could be cleaned by just the two of us.
“Um… I was wondering if we could have our breakfast before we start.” I said in the most polite way I could.
“Of course not… I forgot to tell you, you both have no meal for the entire day.
