Lauren’s POV
I trembled slightly at his words but I was composed enough not to let Kayden notice that I had trembled.
“I… I would not do anything to harm her, what happened… What happened at the dining was… Was just an incident.”
“One that should never, ever repeat itself,” he replied and I nodded repeatedly.
“You can leave,” he said and I turned to leave but stopped when I got to the door.
“Alpha Kayden, can… Can I have a meal with you? I mean can we both go out….”
“I have no time for trivial things, shut the door behind you.” he cut me off and I nodded, pressing my lips into a thin line.
I opened the door and walked down the stairs with just one thought on my mind, how I was going to deal with that Samantha once Kayden and his parents were gone, she would be left at my mercy and then I would be able to deal with her appropriately.
Yeah, I was scared of what Kayden just told me but then still yet, I just needed to make Samantha be the one at fault, I could send her out of this home before Kayden is back, I am sure his mum would plead on my behalf, he can do anything to me but still yet he would not dare to kill me because of his mother.
I am sure… I am sure that one day I will be the one by his side, the one he would cherish and love me, his mate, his Luna, I just needed to get rid of obstacles that were trying to stop that from happening, obstacles such as Samantha.
The next day.
Samantha’s POV
I woke up still having a headache, it seemed to me like I was going to be a bit tired throughout the day, I could feel it and I wondered why I felt so weak, I suffered much more with the slave masters and I still did not feel this weak.
“Good morning, how are you doing this morning?” Cassie asked and I gave her a small smile.
“I am doing pretty good, better than last night,” I replied to her and she grinned.
“Nice, we won’t have much to do from tomorrow, the family would go on their annual vacation,” Cassie said, joy in her voice but I found nothing joyful in that.
“Alpha Kayden leaving means that Miss. Melissa is going to deal with us, old Granny is going along with them, and more Miss. Lauren is going to be staying here too.” I said to her and she nodded like she was starting to understand what I was saying.
“We are going to be in trouble, especially you, Miss. Melissa especially focuses her gaze on you.” Cassie said and I sighed.
“Forget about it, they won’t kill us anyways, how many days does the family usually spend away?” I asked
“About two weeks,” she replied.
“Two weeks of suffering,” Cara mumbled.
“I am sorry.”
“It doesn’t matter, we are strong, we would get over it,” Cara replied.
“Thanks for at least believing Cara,” I replied her as I got off my bed.
“This peculiar mark on your neck,” Cassie mumbled and I gulped, quickly throwing my hair over the spot.
“It’s nothing peculiar, just a mark that was given to me at birth, I guess,” I replied her.
“Let’s get to work, the others left for work already but I stalled a little bit since you were not feeling too good,” Cassie said
“Thank you so much.” I gave her thumbs up and we both walked out of the quarters hand in hand, ready to take our bath.
I got into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the sudden contact of the cold water against my skin made me shiver slightly.
“Don’t you think Cassie is just so good and kind?” I asked Cara.
“I think so too, she is gentle towards you, kind and supportive, glad we found a friend,” Cara replied.
“Do you think it is right to hide the fact that I am a wolf and a slave from her?” I asked
“You have to hide it, Samantha, what if she decides to stay away from you after knowing that? Or what if she tells it to someone else? We can only fully trust ourselves, we can’t tell it to anyone.” Cara replied.
“Okay then,” I mumbled.
“What do you think Alpha Kayden would say if he sees me this morning?” I asked but there was no response, Cara had gone again.
I chuckled softly and focused on my bathing.
A few minutes later, I was done and that just had to be the shortest bath I had taken since I got into this place.
I opened the bathroom door and Cassie stepped out at the same time.
“Wow! For the very first time, you decided not to spend weeks in the bathroom.” Cassie said and I chuckled.
“Of course not,” I mumbled.
We both got dressed up for the day’s work and headed to Alpha Kayden’s room. For some reason, I hoped to see him there and for some other reasons, I hoped that he would be off to work already.
I did not want to see him looking at me and scolding me for being stupid once more. My eyes subconsciously grazed my forehead, the pains had subsided a lot.
We got to the door and I slowly raised my hand to knock when Cassie was not doing so.
“In.” his voice came and I pushed the door open, stepping in with Cassie.
“Good morning Alpha Kayden” I and Cassie chorused.
“Umm.” he hmmed without looking away from his laptop, his hair was ruffled and somehow, I thought he looked even hotter with ruffled hair.
“What sort of thought is that?” I said to myself and quickly set to work.
Bending down to clean seemed to worsen the headache but then I did not want Alpha Kayden to know that I was still in pain and I did not want Cassie to know that either.
I continued cleaning, placing my hand on my forehead occasionally.
“Mantha.” Alpha Kayden called and I quickly stood straight, my eyes still on the floor.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“How are you feeling now?” He asked in a manner and cold voice that told me that was just a question without any sort of emotions.
“I… I am fine Alpha Kayden, thanks to your kindness and generosity.” I replied him.
“Go and have a rest, you are free from work for the whole day.”
