Chapter 34

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Kayden’s POV
“Samantha” I called and she turned towards me.
“A… Alpha Kayden” she stuttered, her eyes gazing at the floor.
“Were you kinda deaf when I asked you to get me my keys?!” I yelled at her and she shook her head vehemently.
“I… I am sorry Alpha Kayden.” she apologized.
“You think an apology would solve this?! I called you and you did not even pick up my calls?!” I yelled at her but she kept mute.
“Heads up! Samantha heads up!” I yelled at her and she slowly raised her head.
I wanted to yell at her more but immediately I saw her eyes I kept quiet, she was crying already, tears were streaming down her eyes.
“I… I am sorry Alpha Kayden.” she apologized and I blinked twice.
Her tears seemed to have washed away my anger somehow and now I was curious to know why she was crying.
“I asked you to get me my keys, why didn’t you come to me immediately?” I asked my voice now at its usual tone.
“Mantha,” I called and she seemed to let out a breath of relief.
“I am sorry Alpha… I… I kept the… I kept the key…” she continued trying to fight back the tears.
“Follow me Mantha,” I said and turned, walking out of the maids quarters.
I walked on and on till we got to the garden where I stopped and heard her footsteps halt also.
I slowly turned to her and as usual, she had her eyes down.
“Why didn’t you come to give me my keys?” I asked her.
“Please forgive me Alpha Kayden, I… I misplaced your keys,” she replied and my eyebrows furrowed.
“You misplaced my keys?” I asked and she fell onto her knees.
“I am sorry, I am sorry.”
“Get up Mantha,” I said to her and she slowly did.
“I am sorry… I was sure… I kept it in my bag of clothes, I kept it there because.. because I did not want to lose it, I had no. idea that it wasn’t safe there either. I… I have no idea how it got missing and I don’t know what time it got missing either….. I… I found out when you called me the first time and… and when you called me back… I… I could not pick it up, what… What in the world could I tell you?” she cried.
“Stop crying like a baby, you are not a baby,” I said to her and she wiped her tears severally.
“I… I would stop sir” she said and her tears slowly subsided while I just stared at her.
“When I sent someone to you, why did you not follow her to me?”
“Someone? I… I had no idea… Oh yes! I remember, I didn’t let her talk because I was in a bad mood” she replied lowly.
“You cried yourself so much for what? Just my keys.” I said to her.
“I… I know you are annoyed so much Alpha Kayden but… but I am sorry, I would try my best to find the keys very soon,” she replied.
“I will just get the spare keys and you should have told me about it, instead of crying yourself out,” I said to her.
“I… I was scared that you would get mad at me Alpha Kayden.”
“You are such a baby,” I said to her and walked away.
I had walked a few steps away from her but I could not hear a single footstep from her.
“Follow me,” I said to her and she followed me.
We both walked to where the spare keys were kept and I grabbed the spare key to my room and opened up my room, it was sparkling clean.
“You could just give a compliment on that, she deserves that after being scared to hell by you,” Jay said.
“Trying to make me guilty? Did you scare her too and more? Why should I give a compliment to just a mysterious maid? Just because I am trying to find out more about her does not mean that I should say cheesy things like giving out compliments.”
I took my seat on the chair and stared back at her standing figure.
“The key getting missing, you think someone is behind it?” I asked.
“Yes, Alpha Kayden. I really kept it in my bag, I am sure of it, someone must have taken it out of my bag,” she replied to me.
“Since you think that way, follow me,” I said, standing up and heading to the door.
She followed after me as we both made our way to the surveillance room. I was going to check whosoever tampered with her bag and took my keys to put her into some sort of trouble.
“Walk faster Mantha,” I said to her when her footsteps were fading.
“Yes Alpha Kayden,” she replied and I heard her run lightly to get to me.
She stood behind me and continued walking after me.
“Your phone is with you?” I asked her.
“No Alpha,” she replied.
“Why don’t you have your phone with you? it’s called mobile.” I scolded her.
“I… I forgot to pick it up in my room. I would go and get it right away.” she said and turned to leave.
“And you think I can wait for you? Just follow me” I said to her, still keeping ok a straight face.
“Oh… yes Alpha” she mumbled in that same soft voice.
I shook my head lightly and inputted the password of the surveillance room to the door. I glanced at Mantha and saw her looking away from what I was inputting.
Still not interested in knowing the passwords? Then what exactly is the mystery behind her? What is she trying to hide from me?
I opened the room and walked into the surveillance room but she did not follow me.
“What are you doing out there?” I asked, burying both hands into my pockets.
“I thought you wanted me to stay out here,” she said and I shook my head.
“In.” I groaned out an order and she walked in with two long steps.
I sat on the chair and stood before the monitors, she stood behind me.
“Closer Mantha, you have to point out your bed here, right?” I asked and she moved closer to me.
I went through the footage.
“About what time did you keep it in your bag?”
“I kept it in there around noon,” she replied and I took the footage back to noon.
She leaned in towards the monitor quite subconsciously.
“That’s me when I was keeping it in my bag,” she said to me, pointing at the screen.
“When did you exit your room?” I asked, trying to look away from her attractive body that was just before me in front of the screen.
“Around 2 pm,” she replied and I took the footage to that period.
“That’s me going out,” she said, pointing at the screen again.
I watched her body, her dark hair, flowing to her shoulders and downwards, her neck was pretty revealed and there was a mark on her neck. She slowly tucked her hair behind her ear, with her eyes still glued to the screen. Her pleasant scent intoxicated me.
“Alpha Kayden.” her voice called out to me and I diverted my gaze to the floor and then at the screen.
My brows furrowed as I saw someone walk over to her bags.
“Isn’t that Cassie?”
