Chapter 30

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Samantha’s POV
I smiled a bit, skipping through the corridors. It did not seem too bad to get a phone from him, after all, I do not think that there is an absurd and strange condition underneath it.
Well, he did mention that he will have his eyes on me through this phone but that was none of my business anyway. I had nothing to hide from him… or well maybe I had a lot to hide from him, my identity, I had to hide that.
I walked into the maid’s quarters to see Cassie changing into some normal clothes.
“Where are you off to?” I asked her.
“Time to go for lunch, you would better get dressed up and let’s leave together, we will talk about what happened with Alpha Kayden later on,” she said with a playful nudge of my shoulders, she had this weird smile on her face which I ignored anyways and began pulling off my clothes.
I pulled off the maid’s uniform and folded it neatly on the bed before dressing up in one of the clothes that Miss. Melissa had given it to me the other day. I do not have an idea yet why she gave me clothes that day but I know it wasn’t from her heart because even that day, there was hatred in the way she looked at me, disgust and detest.
I finished dressing up and held onto Cassie’s hands, the both of us walked to the dining area with the phone in my hands. It was the first time I would be owning such a precious thing, I did not know how to operate a phone yet but I knew I was going to learn that quickly.
I was a quick and easy learner, things like this should not really be too hard for a smart brain like me. Those were Granny’s words, she would always tell me that nothing was too hard for smart brains like me.
“Hey, you’re thinking about something again?” Cassie asked and I gave her a small smile.
“Nothing in particular.”
“You’d better not think about anything here other than eating. when you want to eat, you should clear your mind so you can get the taste.” She said like a foodie and I nodded my head with a light smile on my face.
We both got out plates of food and headed over to the seat we wanted to occupy, we sat down to eat and a few seconds into eating, Cassie touched my hands.
“Uhm… Samantha, how did things go with Alpha Kayden? Did he tell you the reason he got you the phone?” Cassie asked.
“Didn’t you say that when we are about to eat, we should completely free our minds and think about nothing so why are you thinking about this now?” I asked with a smirk, using her words against her.
I watched her grumble.
“Okay, forget about what I said earlier. C’mon tell me, I am going to die of guessing she curiosity.” She grumbled even more.
“Okay, okay… he simply told me that he got the phone to…. to keep an eye on me,” I replied her and she furrowed her brows.
“To keep an eye on you… now that’s weird, don’t you think so?” Cassie asked and I nodded in agreement.
“Forget about it, he can keep an eye on me. I have nothing.” I shrugged and continued eating.
“Could Alpha Kayden be thinking that you are hiding something from him?” she asked and I stopped eating immediately.
“Hiding… hiding what? If he thinks like that then that is none of… none of my business” I stuttered.
“I do think it is,” Cara said she was back.
“Cara,” I called.
” Samantha, you know I have always thought of his actions strange. It is highly possible that Alpha Kayden does not trust your lies enough and he only wants to treat us quite good so that you can confess to him all about us.” Cara said
“I would never do that! No matter how much good he treats me, I think you are right Cara, that might be his plan and then when he finds out, I might be doomed. I need to do something.” I replied her.
“None of your business? well, it is all yours.” Cassie shrugged and was about to talk more when I stuffed a chicken in her mouth.
“Just eat, we would soon be out of time,” I said to her and she gave me an annoyed pout.
“You are just trying to make me stop asking questions,” she grumbled.
“Yes, you are right, now eat up, would you?” I asked and focused on my eating.
I heard her huff and then she began eating too.
The next day.
Kayden’s POV
I dressed up for work quite early, I was going to be meeting with the beta of the attacked pack again today as today would be the expiration of the two days grace he requested for.
“I do hope that unfit man has something to share about those wolf hunters,” Jay growled.
“I hope so too Jay, so I can grab those silly over curious and cruel humans and rip them into pieces.” I gritted using my tie.
It was still very early in the morning, I would sure be missing breakfast at home but that was great anyways, that way I would be able to stay away from Dad and him always talking about the issue of my mate.
I finished dressing up for work and grabbed my suitcase. I opened the door and stepped out of my room just in time to see some maids walking in, it was time for them to go for their daily tasks.
“Good morning sir.”
“Good morning sir”
I ignored the greetings as usual but it seemed like my eyes seemed to search for someone amongst them all, Mantha.
“Good morning Alpha Kayden.” I heard that soft voice and I turned to see her.
“Clean up my room, you only,” I said to her, dropping the key in her hands.
“Sure Alpha Kayden and thanks for yesterday,” she said and I gave her a slight nod before walking out of the mansion.
I got into my car and drove to work. I was there in a few minutes. I got to my office and plopped to my seat.
“Hey, where is that unqualified beta?” I asked, mind linking with Davis, my beta.
” I am on my way right now, I think I would better explain things to you personally,” he replied and I ended the mind link.
What news could he hold that he would need to see me before telling me?
I waited for some minutes, not able to do anything as my mind frequently went to his words.
“I do hope there’s just some good news,” Jay said.
“I don’t know why but I do not feel like it,” I replied him.
“If it was good news, would he have to see me before breaking the good news to me?” I asked Jay.
“Just keep it down, you are being pessimistic here,” Jay growled and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
Telling him such negative things were not going to hell his mood, definitely not.
The door opened and Davis stepped in, in quite a rush.
“What do you want to tell me?” I asked immediately he walked in.
“The beta…. he is currently nowhere to be found.”
