Samantha’s POV
I looked away from his figure and walked into the kitchen, I was still pretty much a novice in the kitchen and I had no idea where I could get the juice from and wait a minute, I even had no idea about what type of juice Alpha Kayden would prefer but then I was sure that some of them working in this kitchen would do.
“Hey… Excuse me….” I called out to one of them and she turned to look at me, raising a brow slightly.
“Yes,” she replied.
“Uhm. Alpha Kayden asked me to get him a cup of juice so I was thinking… I was just thinking if you could tell me what type of juice he loves most, that is of course if you have a clue about it” I said to her and she suddenly smiled, her face which was suppressed in a smile a few seconds ago smoothening into a beautiful smile.
“Now that’s weird” Cara mumbled.
“I sure do know what type of juice he loves the most, get him watermelon juice” she replied and I smiled at her.
“Thank you so much” I appreciated her kind gesture ignoring the frown that was on her face a few seconds before the sudden smile.
“You are welcome, now go and get his juice as fast as possible, he does not like being delayed,” She said and I nodded with a small beam.
I turned and looked around.
“Aaaah, you do not even know where to get the juice from, here you go,” another maid said, handing over to me the cup of juice.
“Thank you… Thank you so much” I said to her, happy at the pretty warm reception that I received from the maids.
“Why then did Cassie not make friends with any of them? They are kind of cool” I said to Cara.
“Maybe they are not so cool, Cassie sure knows them very well, a lot more than we do,” Cara said and I nodded slowly in agreement.
Maybe they were cunning in the long run so I should just enjoy the few acts of kindness that they do offer in the short run.
I climbed up the stairs quickly, trying to get the cup of juice across to him as fast as possible in a bid not to annoy him.
I got to the door of his room and stopped there, breathing quite heavily. I steadied my breathing before placing two knocks on the door in quick succession.
“In.” his voice came as usual and I slowly opened the door. his eyes were closed and his brows creased in a frown like a state.
“Alpha Kayden.” I greeted, dropping the cup of juice on the table beside him.
He opened his eyes, stretched out his hands and I quickly placed the cup of juice in his hands, he was about to lift it to his mouth when he halted.
“What… why did you give me this? No one told you how much I hate watermelons” he asked me.
“I… I am sorry Alpha Kayden” I apologized repeatedly.
“Mantha, you could have at least asked someone what I like drinking,” he said, his voice coming down to his usual tone.
“I did ask, and… and she told me that watermelon juice was your favourite Alpha.” I bowed.
“These bitches” I heard him grit out before turning to me.
“Take this away,” He said and I quickly took it from his outstretched hands and rushed out of the room.
“Now, I told you. I told you the smile on her face back then was weird, it was strange ” Cara said and I reasoned with her this time around.
How in the world did I think they were being so kind out of the blues? The frown on her face initially should have let me know that I was not welcome not loved by them.
“It is time I realize that Cassie is my only friend here and none of them here,” I replied Cara.
“Thank goodness you are finally starting to come to your senses,” Cara replied to me.
“Hey, I didn’t lose my senses earlier did I?” I asked.
“Oh you kind of did and I would love to deal with those girls who dared to deceive you! how dare they deceive you?! Those fools do think that you are human-like they are, I would have thought them a lesson” Cara grumbled.
“Hey calm down. they do not like me and I do not like them too, it’s just a mutual feeling between us.” I responded and saw Cassie walking towards me.
“Finally, someone to talk to.” I breathed out in relief.
“You missed me?” she asked and I nodded.
“I know you would,” she said and held my hands leading the both of us to the maid’s quarters.
I told her what just happened to me as we walked to the maid’s quarters.
“Those filthy things! They sure do know that Alpha hates that, they were trying to do nothing but put you in trouble. I am sure they would be so much surprised to see you doing very fine.” Cassie said as I took my seat on the bed where I occupied
“And you Samantha, I still don’t know why but you are very lucky, very lucky. Do you know what Alpha Kayden would have done to you on a normal basis for serving him the worst?”
“Well… I was misled, that was not much of my fault.” I replied her.
“But still Mantha, you are extremely fortunate.” She replied.
“Yeah, after suffering a whole lot of misfortune in the past” Cara chirped in.
” I am even starting to think that Alpha Kayden thinks especially of you,” she said and I furrowed my brows in slight confusion.
“Of course not! Alpha Kayden is just a good man, a really good one who wants to help our orphans like me.” I replied.
“And you think we all do not know that? oh yeah, this mansion had helped a whole lot of us but come to think of it all, you are the only one he keeps on pardoning, he let you clean his room on your second day in this place, heck! he even let you into his room alone and the way alpha Kayden calls your name, Mantha” she said imitating Alpha Kayden’s voice and making me laugh for some seconds.
“Do not overthink it, Cassie, he is just trying to help me a bit more to integrate into this home ”
“Oh yes, integrating you into the home, I understand now.”
“Yes, that’s right. Integrating into the home just as he helped each one of us integrate?” Cassie asked.
“Listen, Cassie, you told me that alpha does not like the issue of his mate being talked about and most importantly, he is surrounded by so beautiful and sexy ladies so why would you think like that?”
“Hello, is this Mrs Samantha?’ a lady asked, walking into the maid’s quarters with her eyes on me.
“Yes ma’am, what can I do for you?” I requested to know.
“Sir Kayden has ordered that this phone be given to you”
