Chapter 26

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-1

Kayden’s POV.
She halted and slowly turned back to me while the other girl with her walked out of the room.
“Sir?” She asked slowly.
“Heads up.” I replied her and she slowly lifted her head up.
“Move towards me.” I ordered and she moved closer to me but still maintained a whole lot of distance.
“Closer, you know I do not love repeating my words, right?” I asked and she took three steps forward, by now she was my arm length.
“I said closer Mantha.” I groaned and she took two steps forward. I could notice her gulping and playing with her fingers nervously.
“Now chin up.” she slowly brought her face from where it usually looked, the floor.
She brought her face up and looked into my eyes, I looked back into her eyes but in seconds, she had lowered her face.
I groaned slightly and raised her head up with my index finger, she she had no option in this position than to look into my eyes.
“A… Alpha Kayden.” she stuttered.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“I… I am your maid.” she replied.
“Who are you personally Mantha?” I asked and saw her gulp, her head slightly bobbing in my hands.
“I… I am I am no one.” she stuttered and brought her face down once more.
“Raise your head now!” I ordered authoritatively, each word dripping with unquestionable authority.
I felt her head shudder in my hands and she raised her hands up, her eyes filling up with some tears.
“I….” I stopped talking and let go of her seeing her teary eyes.
“You.. you can leave.” I stuttered and she ran out of the room.
Wait a moment, I just stuttered, I stuttered!!
“This is strange, this must be included in one of the weirdest things of this year.” Jay said but I kept mute, not responding to him but thinking about it myself, I could hardly believe that I didn’t get out my sentence straight, I had to stutter like those weaklings did!
I looked at the door that was left slightly opened by Mantha and closed my eyes, massaging the space between my brows.
I stood up from where I was seated and headed into the bathroom. I took a quick and cold bath after which I dressed up plainly. I would be working from home today, it was a Sunday and staying home was my thing but the me in me would not allow me stay idle so I just considered it working from home.
I left my room and headed to the dinning room, mum and dad was there.
Seeing dad, I groaned slightly in me. Dad would definitely bring up again, the issue of my mate.
“Good morning mum and good morning Dad.”
“Good morning .” mum replied but Dad did not give a reply.
“Hey, your child is greeting you.” mum nudged him as I took my seat.
Actually I was less concerned if he responded to my greetings, I was not expecting a response when I greeted him. Ever since the issue of my mate, he had been like this cold and distant from me.
“I won’t greet back a disobedient child.” he replied and I nodded slightly in understanding.
I began eating in silence, it was one of the few days when I ate with them at the dinning room.
“Kayden, you should really get yourself a mate to at least stop this fight between you and your father.” mum said but I just continued eating or should I say picking on my food without a single reply.
“Is that silence means yes?” Mum asked and I darted my fave towards her.
“Of course not mum. I don’t know why the both of you are so hell-bent on the issue of my mate, I am doing good enough, ain’t I? Under my rule, tell me what has gone wrong, there is nothing that I am not handling with capable hands so why the fuss about the Luna?” I asked.
“You are naive! You know nothing!” Father said to me, raising his voice.
“You think you getting married is only for the pack, it is also for us, we want our grandchildren and for you also, you have to….”
“Oh no dad, you can’t tell me it is for me, really… I told you several times dad, I do not need a mate, a mate especially is not for me” I shook my head, looking away from my meal momentarily.
“Can… Can you see the kid you gave birth to?!” Dad yelled, turning to face mum.
“Mum, I think I am done eating.” I said and moved the chair backwards.
That was one of the reasons I did not love going to the dining table because I might meet him and then this issue would always come up, like always!
I got up from my chair, tucked my hands in my pockets and walked away.
If only she was here with me, I would not be having these talks with Dad, if only she decided to stay with me and not leave forever.
I sighed softly and was about to take the stairs when I came across Mantha.
“Mantha, get me a cup of juice” I ordered and walked away.

Samantha’s POV
I had ran out of his room in total fear, his reactions had scared me quite too much and the way he yelled at me to bring my face up was frightening too.
Perhaps he did not mean to do that because he let go of immediately but then I was still scared, I had thought he would rip my heads off but there was this part of me that was quite confident that Alpha Kayden would not.
“Hey Samantha.” Cassie waved at me and I offered her a small smile but she could still see behind the smile that I just went throghh see emotional attacks.
“Anything wrong?” She asked.
“Nothing much.” I mumbled.
“What did Alpha Kayden say or do to you?” She asked and I contemplated telling her.
“He did nothing but yell at me for no reason, he can be scary at times.”
“I thought you said he was a blessing to you.” Cassie chuckled in a whisper.
“Of course he is, he probably did not mean any harm to me, I am just being an emotional fool here,” I replied.
“You’re defending him? There’s no need, I bet….” Cassie looked around to make sure there was no one around.
“I bet he knows just how scary he is, I once peed in my panties in front of him and he still didn’t stop questioning me about who made the food too spicy sou, I thought he was going to kill me that day, oh my… I am grateful he didn’t, well after his mother interceded”
“That means you are lucky for him to have let you off so quickly, you haven’t started crying yet and he already let you off. We are fortunate” Cara said.
“Yeah, I am” I replied.
“Oops, I am sorry, I have to go on something,” Cassie said and skipped away, leaving only me in the living room.
I decided to leave since it did not in any way make sense for me to be in the living room, I walked past quickly and caught a glimpse of the family eating, Alpha Kayden, his mother and father did not see me.
I walked into the maid’s quarters and sat on my bed till a girl walked up to me.
“Hey,” she said but not in a friendly manner.
“Hey?” I replied slowly and unsure.
“Who do you think you are exactly? You just came in here and the next thing you are already cleaning Alpha Kayden’s room, do you know how many years you are supposed to wait before you can do that?” She asked harshly and that was where I got my confirmation. This wasn’t a friendly talk.
I quickly shot out of bed and walked out of the maid’s quarters and thankfully the girl did not stop me, I moved towards the living room with a cleaning napkin in my hand, in case I found something dirty that I could clean to while away time.
I stopped by the stairs to clean the rails when I felt that powerful aura again, Alpha Kayden.
“Mantha, get me a cup of juice,” he said and I looked up slightly, his face was in a deep frown, one that denoted anger.
A type of anger that shadowed sadness, a type of sadness I somehow wished I could help him get away with.
