Kayden’s POV
I walked into the secret room where I usually held the meetings with other alphas and took my seat which stood out notably amongst all.
“A pack was attacked” I started.
“I suppose some of you have heard about it and for those of you that were so busy with the marriage of the alpha of the lock heart’s pack to know about it, I hope you have the information now, Shadow pack was attacked. Davis” I called out to him and he moved closer to him.
“I asked you to get all the alphas here, where is the Alpha of the attacked pack? The fact that his pack was attacked should be more reason for him to be here.”
“When I got to the town, I could not find the alpha, I think he has been eliminated,” he replied and Jay growled loudly.
“What guts they have!!” I almost screamed, anger rising in me.
I shut my eyes, trying not to lose it.
“The Luna and the beta?” I asked.
“Only the beta was found, the Luna’s body was found instead,” he replied.
“You all have heard this information, this is the work of the wolf hunters,” I said to them.
“Respect to alpha Kayden, beta Davis, what did the beta say?”
“He wasn’t around during the time of the attack,” Davis replied.
“I want you all to keep your packs close, protect each member. I want all strange deaths to be reported to me immediately even if it’s the death of a single person. The entrance of strange people should be reported to me immediately.”
“How much was the damage done to the pack?” I asked.
“There is hardly any member left” he replied and my brows furrowed for a moment.
“This could also be described as the extinction of a pack,” he added.
“They must have spent a long time preparing to strike and kill all in one swoop,” Alpha Carl mumbled.
He was once my friend.
“Can you keep it down Carl?” I asked rudely and he smirked.
“Yes, alpha Kayden,” he replied.
“I am done here, the case of the wolf hunters should not repeat itself, I want you all to be cautious. Once I get those wolf hunters, I will be squeezing the life outta them.” I mumbled, biting my mouth hard.
“I have an idea that might help,” Carl said as I stood up.
“Not needed, use it to protect your pack, I know how to do my things without your ideas,” I replied and walked out with Davis tagging along.
I got into my office and plopped to my chair. I rubbed my creased brows, Jay was still growling loudly and furiously in me. I could understand his fury.
“I promise I would fish them out Jay,” I promised him and that seemed to calm him down a bit as he purred.
“Davis, I want you to get me the beta of the Shadow’s pack, I want to know exactly how he managed to escape,” I said to him.
“That I would surely do Alpha, any other thing?”
“You’d be revisiting the pack with some other men, find if there are any tracks or leads we could catch up unto” I replied him.
“Yes alpha” he replied and exited the room.
“Perhaps we would have someone to cool me down if I had a mate” Jay growled again.
“Let us not talk about the mating issue, let’s focus on the pack,” I replied him, picking up my phone from my pockets where I had buried it.
It had rung multiple times during the meeting but it was on vibration mode. I checked the caller ID and it was mum, she had called me eight times.
Mum wasn’t the type to repeat a call several times which made me think what exactly could be wrong.
A message popped in and it was from mum.
“Found a lady in your room, definitely a spy or an assassin, I am going to take care of her.” the message read.
Shit! Mantha!
I tried calling mum but she was no longer picking up the calls.
“Mum, pick up the damned phone!” I groaned.
I tried mind linking with her too but it was not working.

Samantha’s POV.
I stopped in my tracks as I heard the voice.
“Who the heck are you?” The voice asked again, the voice was feminine but there was a hint of authority in the voice.
I turned slowly to face a beautiful woman dressed in a black gown, deep red lipstick was smeared on her lips, her lashes were long and dark and she seemed to have a sort of similarity with alpha Kayden.
Her look and her graceful carriage of herself helped to emit a powerful aura that surrounded her like a cloak.
“I asked who are you,” she repeated her question and her voice shook me out of trying to absorb her looks, I diverted my gaze to the floor and kept it there, not having an idea of what to say to her.
I watched her legs move to me, with five steps, she was standing right in front of me.
“Who are you?” She thundered, raising my head to look into her eyes.
I slightly shivered as her eyes sucked mine.
“You don’t speak?” She asked, letting go of my head that she was holding to look into her eyes earlier.
“I… I do speak ma’am.” I finally managed to speak.
“Guards!” She called and in a few seconds, several men ran to the spot where we were.
“Grab her,” she ordered and two of the man grabbed my hands even though just one of them was enough to hold me down.
“I am sure you are a spy or an assassin, those intending to kill my son have no class, sending such a weak human to my home to get my son.” she chuckled.
“Ma’am, I am none of them! Alpha Kayden brought me in here.” I cried out to her.
“You want me to believe that? You silly spy!” She slapped me hard across the face.
“Ma’am! I am not telling any lies, Please believe me, Alpha Kayden brought me here.” I cried out.
“Well, let’s call Kayden right now, shall we?” She asked a rhetorical question, bringing out her phone.
“Yes please do.” I cried.
“Well, he is not picking up his calls so tell me, who sent you?” She asked.
“No one sent me! I swear!”
“So stubborn, bring her down to me.” She mumbled and began to walk down the flight of stairs.
I was dragged after her and was made to kneel in front of her, I clasped my hands together with my eyes on the floor.
“What were you looking for in his room? Him? Or you were asked to bring something else?” She asked.
“I wasn’t asked to bring anything, he… Alpha Kayden brought me here himself” I replied, rushing my words.
“I have called him several times but he is not picking up his calls, anyways I have a message sent to him already, I would be getting rid of you for him,” she said and I gasped.
“Please! I am not a spy! I swear I am not one.” I cried.
“Keep her there, I’d be back in minutes” she replied and stood up.
I watched her walk away while I remained on my knees.
Why must I be this miserable always? And now, if alpha Kayden does not call back to save me. I would be dead in minutes.
Minutes passed and I watched Alpha Kayden’s mum walk downstairs to me again. My body shivered slightly.
“I am sorry this has to be our end Cara,” I mumbled.
She walked over to her phone.
“Oops, a missed call from Kayden.” she grinned at me and I could see a bright light shine on me, it was new hope that I could still probably be saved!
“Hell! He is not picking up his calls again,” she mumbled and I saw the bright light fade into darkness.
