Chu Yu arrived in time later, and Yan Shaoxuan was sent to the intensive care right away. Xia Weiwei refused to leave the hospital and insisted on waiting there for the result, so Luo Chejue went to deal with Xia Mo first. He knew very well that if the rescue were invalid, he and Xia Weiwei would have no chance to be together again. Actually, he had investigated her life abroad in the past four years, so he perfectly understood how important Yan Shaoxuan was to her.
It was not love, but still very hard to part with.
Chu Yu had somewhat figured it out, so he patted Luo Chejue on the shoulder before going into the operating room. “Don’t worry. Leave him to me. You need to take care of Jingnian.”
After the seemingly never-ending emergency treatment, Yan Shaoxuan was finally out of danger, still in a coma though. Xia Weiwei lived in the hospital to look after him all along, and she went to see Jingnian at times as well. Luo Chejue did not make any complaint about it.
He asked Chu Yu, “How’s he doing?”
Chu Yu cast a glance at Yan Shaoxuan before replying to Luo Chejue, “He’s recovering. He needs attentive nursing due to excessive loss of blood. All in all, he is very lucky to make it because Xia Mo stabbed him really hard.”
Luo Chejue snorted.
Chu Yu turned away and continued, “Jingnian is getting better too. It’s kind of a blessing in disguise because he starts to recover consciousness now. But you have to know that his intelligence is still at infant level.”
Luo Chejue nodded. Watching Xia Weiwei carefully cleaning Yan Shaoxuan, he heard a teasing voice, “Not jealous?”
“He saved Weiwei. But after he wakes up, if he dared to take Weiwei away in the name of this, I would be crueler than Xia Mo.”
Chu Yu burst out laughter. He knew that Luo Chejue was quite annoyed. “I heard that you’ve caught Xia Zhengyan? And he refused to plead guilty?”
“Does it make any difference if he pleaded guilty or not?” Luo Chejue never gave a damn about Xia Zhengyan, and he had countless methods to deal with him. But since Xia Zhengyan was Xia Weiwei’s father after all, he was waiting for her to make decisions about him.
“Jue, you’re here.”
Luo Chejue went in and held her hands, asking gently, “Are you tired?”
Xia Weiwei shook her head with a smile on her face. As a matter of fact, she was aware that Luo Chejue hated to see her being so close to Yan Shaoxuan, so she was very grateful for his tolerance these days, which made her feel that she was loved, doted on, and also respected by Luo Chejue.
“Your father is now in jail. Do you want to see him?”
After pausing for a while. Xia Weiwei reached out to hold him, fully aware of his kind intention. “Jue, thank you. I have some questions to ask him in person. After that, please don’t bother about me and do what needs to be done.”
Holding her in his arms quietly, Luo Chejue replied, “Okay.”
“I’m thinking about bringing Shengsheng with me. She is his biological granddaughter, no matter what he had done. She should have the chance to say goodbye to him.” Being surrounded by his scent, Xia Weiwei whispered in exhaustion.
Luo Chejue adjusted his posture so that she could lie in his arms more comfortably. He then entwined his fingers with hers before saying to her with a low voice, soft and attractive like mellow wine, “You’re tired. Just get some sleep. I shall be here with you, okay?”
He continued, “When you wake up, let’s take Shengsheng to see Jingnian. Chu Yu said he shall regain consciousness within a few days.”
Xia Weiwei could barely open her eyes and replied with a drowsy look, “Hmm, Shengsheng will be thrilled…”
In the jail, Xia Zhengyan looked quite calm on his face but extremely anxious underneath. Luo Chejue would not let him out easily after he threw him into the jail. It’s all the fault of that idiot Xia Mo! It was she who revealed his past, but luckily, he had been cautious all the way, so they could not do anything to him without evidence!
“Dad! Help me! I don’t want to stay here!”
Xia Mo’s voice rang out from next door. She implored, pounding the door incessantly.
Xia Zhengyan yelled impatiently, “Shut up! I don’t have a daughter like you! You’re just as low as your mother! You can never get anything right!”
“Dad!” Xia Mo was appalled. Although his father was partial to Xia Weiwei since childhood, she knew that he was just feigning it and he doted on her the most. “Was it all part of his act? What if he wants to make me the scapegoat? How can he?”
