Chapter 49: Not His Daughter

Book:A Farewell to Mr. Luo Published:2024-5-1

Xia Zhengyan was not in the slightest surprised to see Xia Weiwei in his cell. As soon as he learned that she was still alive, he knew she would come to see him.
On the other hand, Xia Weiwei was strangely calm when she met Xia Zhengyan again. She looked his father up and down quietly, who was familiar yet unknown to her. She was thinking, “Who would know underneath his cultured appearance was a decayed and wicked heart?” For a father who had killed his wife and hurt his daughter, she could not hold any expectations because it would only disgrace her mother!
“Was that how your mother taught you? Not greeting your father when you see him?”
How dare he had the cheek to mention her mother!
“Haven’t we cut off our relationship long ago?”
Xia Zhengyan looked at her coldly, full of disdain. “Such an evil creature! Have no respect for the elderly. Get out of here! The sight of you could only remind me of your wanton mother! ”
“Don’t ever slander my mother! I came here today because I want to hear from you that it was you who schemed to let Xia Mo kill my mother, and that it was you who sent people after me!”
Xia Zhengyan burst into laughter and said, “You’re so stupid! I did it! So what? Are you going to kill your own father?”
Xia Weiwei asked him in a light voice, “Why? You cheated on my mother and you had Xia Mo with another woman. You also wanted to have me killed in order to get my shares, didn’t you? Dad! When I was little, you were so affectionate to mom and me. Were that all fake as well?”
The look in Xia Zhengyan’s eyes softened for a moment, but shortly after, it changed to be murderous at the thought of something else. “Don’t call me dad! The worst thing I’ve ever done was that I didn’t have you killed!”
Xia Weiwei was completely overwhelmed by the bitter disappointment. She signaled the police outside to bring Shengsheng in before saying to Xia Zhengyan, “In this case, I have nothing to say anymore. I took my daughter here to say goodbye to you, for old times’ sake.”
Xia Zhengyan stared at Shengsheng for a while, then suddenly asked, “Is she the daughter of you and Yan Shaoxuan?”
Shengsheng did look somewhat like Yan Shaoxuan, especially her brows and eyes. Before Xia Weiwei could make any reply, Xia Zhengyan laughed out loud and said, “Hah-hah! Bai Yan! Karma’s a bitch! Brother and sister committed incest and had a bastard! It serves you right!”
“Dad, what are you talking about?” “What brother and sister? What karma?”
Xia Zhengyan stopped laughing abruptly and shot a ruthless glare at Xia Weiwei. “I’ve told you, don’t call me dad! You’re not my daughter! You’re the bastard of Bai Yan and Yan Ming!”
“How could that be possible!” Xia Weiwei did not believe it at all!
“It can’t be!” “How could mom and Shaoxuan’s father…”
“Humph! They had an affair long ago! That slut! I loved her so much! How could she have Yan Ming on the brain? How could she lie to me? Even let me raise their bastard!”
At the sight of Xia Weiwei, Xia Zhengyan would instinctively think of the humiliation Bai Yan had brought to him. The humiliation a man could never bear!
“If it hadn’t been a joke you made when you were six, I wouldn’t have suspected your appearance. So, I took a paternity test secretly. Do you know what I found? Hah, you’re not my child!”
Xia Zhengyan’s attitude somehow convinced Xia Weiwei. It was true that she looked more like her mother while Xia Mo looked like her father. But Xia Weiwei had never been suspicious of anything because Xia Zhengyan was so good to her!
No! Actually, he was good to her until she was six. After that, she gradually noticed that her father became more partial to her sister. She was jealous and acted pettishly, but Xia Zhengyan, carrying her on his shoulders, said that as an elder sister, she had to give way to her little sister and that her mother favored her instead.
Yes, her mother had always been indifferent to Xia Mo, which had confused her for a very long time until now when she learned that Xia Mo was not her mother’s biological daughter. But it never occurred to her that she was not the daughter of the Xia family!
“But, you and mom…” She had lived in the Xia family since she had a memory. She would never believe that her mother would cheat!
