Caroline didn’t say anything this time, but took out her phone and showed Regina a video, as if she had expected Regina to be so tough.
Her mother was eating the food in front of her calmly in the video. The background appeared to be a nursing home, with a nurse nearby. Her mother still had an injection on the back of her hand, but she appeared to be in good health.
“Your mother is extremely good. As for where she is, she would naturally rejoin you after this situation is finished,” Caroline remarked coldly. “If you don’t cooperate well, your mother doesn’t dwell in this place.”
Regina’s nerves were shot after witnessing her mother emerge. Her limp body sagged on the ground, sobbing.
Fortunately, nothing bad occurred to her mother, and she appeared to be improving. Her dignity was small in comparison to her mother’s.
The commotion at Martin’s house that night, her embarrassment bathed in drink, and Mandel’s apathy from the sidelines left an everlasting scar on her heart.
“I never asked you to do anything in exchange for the Millers. You owe nothing to the Miller family if you settle this problem quickly.”
Frank’s voice was deep, and he left on his own.
“Hurry up, change your clothes, and go to Martin’s house. The Miller family’s family business can’t be bothered by you like this, so we’ll wait for you outside,” Caroline said.
The ward, which had previously been loud, fell silent in an instant. Regina’s body felt colder and colder as she looked in the direction Frank had departed.
He never demanded anything in exchange for the Millers! It sounds fantastic! He was able to divorce her mother and marry this woman immediately after she was imprisoned. Perhaps only Hedy was his biological daughter in his heart!
Regina became even more negative when she considered Caroline and Frank’s daughter.
The three of them appeared to be more appropriate for being a family.
That was his ex-wife! Regardless of her physical safety, he was able to blackmail her by using her as a negotiating chip. What type of affection did she expect from someone like this?
Regina wanted to say goodbye to Albert as she left the hospital, but he was surrounded by several people, as if he was dealing with something.
When Regina saw this, she had no alternative but to give up, intending to say goodbye to Albert once the situation over there was resolved. She moved quickly and didn’t notice Caroline winking at others who surrounding Albert when she turned around.
Regina was trapped between her father and Caroline in the Martin Group, as if they were frightened that she might flee when she stepped out of the car.
When she observed her father’s appearance, Regina felt increasingly foolish. When did the Millers’ survival depend on an abandoned daughter like her apologizing and compromising?
“Keep your mouth shut, you’ll meet Mandel later!” Caroline reached out and pinched the sensitive flesh of Regina’s waist, satisfied by her painful expression. She admonished once more: “Remember your mother. Your mother will have to sleep on the street tonight if you don’t fix this problem today!”
“You!”
Regina’s face became pale with rage. She learned she was in the downstairs of the Martin Group building rather than the Martin family’s old house after being forced up the elevator.
Shouldn’t it be Hannah who thought she had forfeited the Martin family’s honor in order to get revenge on the Millers? How did she end up at the Martin Group?
If she remembered correctly, Mandel was the current president of the Martin Group.
Was it also Mandel who ended all collaboration with the Millers? What motivated him to do this? Just for a frivolous bow?
The elevator quickly reached the top floor. Without giving her much time to think, the well-dressed secretary directly brought Regina to the door of the president’s office. She smiled and left.
She didn’t even knock on the door for her…
After hesitating for a moment, Regina finally gathered up and knocked on the door.
“Please come in!” Inside, there was a quiet tone with a trace of sadness. This familiar voice made Regina’s heart race.
She made the decision to start a new life away from him. She wasn’t sure if it was fate, but she couldn’t flee so easily after all.
Regina clinched her teeth and walked straight into the president’s office. She was ready to apologize when she was halted by Mandel’s uninterested gaze.
“What are you doing? Get out!”
Mandel’s voice was cold, as if he were speaking to someone who was repulsed. Even his tone was tainted with vileness.
“Did you not make me apologize?” “Do you believe I would be here if you hadn’t ended all cooperation with the Miller family?” snarled Regina.
I wished I would never let you in my sight again.
She didn’t say anything after that, but raised her sparkling eyes and glared obstinately at the man in front of her.
“What credentials do you have to allow me to compel you?” Mandel’s long, narrow eyes were slightly elevated and filled with a deadly glow. “Are you concerned about being detected by Dr. Thompson?”
Mandel took firm steps forward Regina, forcing her entire body back as he spoke. His large palm suddenly grasped her chin, forcing Regina to raise her head and stare at him.
Regina moaned in agony and stared viciously at Mandel. But he used a lot of force in his hands, and moving would only make the pain worse.
“Or have you always been this slutty?”
His tone was contemptuous and mocking, and his expression towards Regina became increasingly dismal.
“What exactly do you mean?” Regina was furious. Her slender shoulders continued to tremble, her teeth squeezed against her lower lip, and the vision of being ashamed and humiliated in front of everyone returned to her head.
The embarrassment made her feel ashamed.
“That’s what you heard!” Mandel removed his hand in disdain and turned away from Regina. “The Miller family, who can teach a daughter like you, is not qualified to cooperate with the Martin Group,” he said plainly.
Regina was enraged because Mandel’s apathy cut her in the heart like an ice knife.
“My behavior has nothing to do with the Miller family,” she said, tilting her head slightly, a flush of embarrassment on her white and delicate cheeks: “I hope you can discover out who it is.”
She stopped at the conclusion before continuing, “Don’t vent your unneeded rage on others. You led me to Martin’s house, and Mrs. Martin was the one who embarrassed me. What’s the matter with the Millers?”
“Do you really think I did this because you were ashamed?”
