“During your absence, I’ve been assisting you in discovering Auntie’s clues. But I didn’t want to inform you since it didn’t work, lest you be even more disappointed.”
“Really? Do you truly think you can help me find my mother?”
Mandel was the last person she heard from concerning her mother. Mandel was really considerate. He had never made sense to her. She had no idea how much he knew about her mother or whether he had simply concealed her.
Regina didn’t dare to speculate, but Albert’s words warmed her heart much.
It would be fantastic news for her if she knew where her mother was.
“I appreciate it.” Regina expressed his sincerity. “My mum is the thing that worries me the most right now.”
Albert gave a gentle smile “Don’t be concerned. Auntie is going to be OK. Rest first, and I’ll alert you when there is new information.”
She nodded and stood there watching Albert exit the ward. Regina had the impression that today’s Albert was more haggard than before.
Regina set the dishes down and glanced at the phone on the pillow. Her cell phone had only rung once since she was framed by Hannah and humiliated at a home feast, and it was still a call from Noah.
And that person seemed to have disappeared from her life, and there was no news at all.
Regina pressed her lips together, fighting the flood of emotions that surged through her heart.
No matter what kind of relationship she had with him, he was uncaring.
Or she was still expecting. For Mandel, she was nothing more than a disposable item.
Fair enough.
Regina inhaled deeply. She also considered escaping Mandel’s grasp. She no longer had to be cautious around the Martins. And Dr. Thompson had pledged to assist her in locating her mother.
She could start a new life with her mother if she knew where she was.
Thinking about this made Regina’s mood lighten and her body feel more at ease. Just as she stood up to stroll down the corridor.
The door of the ward was opened from the outside.
“Regina! Come back with me!”
Frank appeared nervous, but his face lit up when he met Regina. Despite the fact that she was still wearing the hospital gown, he grabbed her arm and rushed out the door.
“Let go! What are you doing?”
Regina yanked her hand out fiercely. She didn’t seem to recognize her father.
She had always assumed that even if her father disapproved of her doing something that would bring shame to the Miller family, he would undoubtedly believe in her. But now Frank has informed her.
In his eyes, she was nothing more than an abandoned daughter who made him and the Miller family feel ashamed. He never trusted her at all.
“Regina, you take yourself very seriously. Do you think you’ll be able to stay out of it if something goes wrong with the Millers?”
Then came an obnoxious voice. Caroline aggressively placed one hand on her hip. Regina found it amusing. She spoke to the Millers as if she had done something wrong.
“It’s because you’ve caused so much embarrassment to the Martin family. The eldest young master summoned you back to laud you, but you’ve done some dishonorable things. You should now accompany me to the Martin family to apologize!”
Caroline grumbled as she assisted her husband in yanking Regina’s arm and dragging her out directly.
Regina was almost mad at this woman. Did Mandel bring her home to flatter her? She is so interesting. Did she have to go alone? The man was clearly dominant and did not listen to other people’s thoughts.
And she won’t be embarrassed in front of everyone by him taking her to Martin’s place! She even had to witness him and Cecily make out under her nose.
Did they still want her to return and apologize? It was just a strange dream.
“I don’t care how you got out about my hospitalization. I hope you go as quickly as possible if you did not come to visit.” “As for the apologies,” Regina said, pulling her hand back with a sorrowful expression, “I didn’t do anything wrong, much alone bow my head to anyone.”
Regina stopped for a time before sneering, “It should have been Hannah who came to apologize to me!”
‘Snapped!’ The slap was especially clear in the ward.
Regina’s face was beaten to one side, and a blazing pain shot through her. She glanced at her father, who had wounded her, in astonishment, and became increasingly uncomfortable with the person in front of her.
“Whether you want to or not, you have to leave today.” Frank’s entire face was red with rage, and he yelled at Regina.
Uncontrollable tears streamed from her eyes. She believed that her heart had been sharpened by her two years in prison.
But she was still incorrect. She wasn’t strong enough, at least not to ignore her own father. He hadn’t cared for her since he came into the ward and had just asked her to apologize to the Martins. He slapped her because he thought she was embarrassed…
Frank sighed hard as she noticed Regina standing still but silently crying. “Regina, I don’t want to do this either, it’s just… simply…” he muttered helplessly, looking at the hand he had just smacked Regina with.
“Don’t be too hard on your father, Regina. Do you have no sense of responsibility?” “If you hadn’t degraded the Martin family so much, might the Martin family discontinue all collaboration with us in retaliation for you?” Caroline complained.
“Did you know that the Miller family is now desperate due of you? If you refuse to apologize, I believe the Millers will go bankrupt!” Caroline angrily pointed at Regina’s nose and sneered, “When the time comes, I’ll see how you can utilize the money to treat that sick mother!”
Regina trembled violently.
It’s no surprise that Frank and Caroline followed him to the hospital. It was discovered that the Martin family had ceased all cooperation with the Miller family.
Regina reached out her hand to wipe away the tears, but the frost on her face grew heavier. This appeared to be Mandel’s choice. Even though she was correct, she had to bow her head to him.
She fixed her gaze on Caroline and remarked indifferently, “What happened to my mother? Is it you or Mandel who stole my mother? If you don’t tell me where my mother is. I will never apologize for the Martins’ decision to end their collaboration with the Millers.”
