Mandel’s deep eyes were locked, and his huge palm reached out to suffocate her.
His power was immense. He coughed and pinched Regina. Her heart sunk as she touched the bright light in his eyes.
Fortunately, Mandel quickly let go of his hand, and said coldly, “Go away!” and then said nothing.
She stormed out of the building, seeing Frank and Caroline eagerly awaiting her.
“How is it? Has Mr. Martin agreed? Hedy needs money to study abroad soon.”
Caroline hurriedly gripped her arm, fearful of hearing terrible news from her mouth. If the Millers went bankrupt, they would depart immediately.
But Frank insisted on being with this woman.
“Not at all! He said it was unrelated to me. Did you offend him elsewhere?”
She rubbed the back of her neck, where a few smudged handprints had already been left. She still had nightmares about Mandel’s scary face.
“What are you talking about? Who else is there besides you? If you don’t settle this, you’ll never see your mother again!”
Caroline rudely extended her fingers and pointed at Regina.
She was furious when she arrived at Mandel’s house, but her father didn’t even greet her. He allowed this woman comment on her, and now she was blackmailing her directly through her mother.
Regina’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she didn’t try to preserve her politeness, instead shouting directly: “I recommend that you exercise caution when speaking. You have no authority over my mum. If you make me nervous, I will fight you to the death.”
Her pale cheeks flushed slightly, and she watched Caroline relax down with joy.
There was nothing she couldn’t put up with if it was just an insult. She had nothing to lose now, but when it came to her mother, she would not let go, no matter who it was.
“Unbridled!” Frank, who had not spoken at the side, yelled violently, oblivious to the fact that this was Martin Group’s downstairs. The few persons yanking and tugging had drawn a lot of attention.
“Whatever you do today, go to Mr. Martin and make your intentions plain. I need to see the company’s processes resume tomorrow.” With a scowl on his face, Frank delivered the order “Go up to him right away and beg his forgiveness. Kneel in front of him till he forgives you!”
Regina’s eyes expanded in surprise. She couldn’t believe it was her own father who had said it.
Did he ask her to apologize to Mandel or even kneel down and beg his forgiveness?
Absolutely impossible!
Regina got chills all over her body thinking of Mandel’s indifference right now, especially his unexpected violence that made her linger in fear.
“It’s not my issue. I’m not going.” She averted her eyes and murmured quietly, “If you don’t have anything else to do, I’ll go first.”
Regina turned around and departed, not wanting to waste any more time on them. She felt a force of gravity crushing against her before taking two steps!
Caroline charged at her with a violent expression, and the hatred on her face almost became reality “You filthy lady! Are you attempting to make Hedy and me homeless on purpose?”
She hurried to shield her abdomen instinctively, but her body still plummeted to the ground helplessly. Caroline unwillingly drew her in.
The agony in her lower abdomen became more noticeable, and sweat dripped from her brow.
“Get out of my way, my belly…”
A wave of panic washed over her. Her sweating was caused by the bulge in her lower abdomen. Without caring about anything else, Regina tightly clasped Caroline’s hand and said with difficulty. “Quick! Please dispatch an ambulance for me…”
“Frank! What’s wrong with her?” Caroline panicked for a moment after noticing Regina’s obvious distress. She lacked the former attitude and controlling behavior. “As you can see, I didn’t hit her just now. I only dragged her…” she sobbed as she glanced at Frank.
“What else? Hurry up and call an ambulance…”
The surrounding landscape became increasingly hazy, and the voices of Caroline and Frank faded away, leaving behind a disinfectant odor.
In the hospital.
Regina had already slept, but she had slept restlessly, her brows wrinkled firmly.
The ward was completely empty. Caroline’s piercing voice sliced through the air in the corridor outside the door. “What? Is she pregnant?”
“It has been several months.” With a grimace, the doctor scribbled something in the medical record at random: “She was nervous when she was sent and wanted to rest. Don’t be too emotionally stimulating to pregnant women, by the way.”
“Is she really pregnant? Can you find out whose child she is carrying, Doctor?” Caroline inquired, pulling on the doctor’s sleeve.
“Shouldn’t this kind of question be asked of the patient as the patient’s family?” The doctor frowned even more, contemptuously glaring at Caroline.
Caroline embarrassedly retracted her fingers, and a glint of brightness flashed in her eyes.
This woman was pregnant! And she didn’t know which man’s child it was…
Caroline appeared to be thinking of something, and the smile on the corner of her mouth intensified. Could it be that person?
Regina awoke from her coma after some time. She was astonished for a few moments before remembering that she had been flung to the ground by Caroline and had entered the hospital.
She smiled wryly at her belly, unsure whether she should declare she missed this child. How else could she have come so close to losing the child so many times?
Her lower abdomen was still throbbing slightly. She had missed Caroline’s unpleasant face in the ward. She exhaled a sigh of relief and wished she could leave quietly when Caroline wasn’t pursuing her.
She heard the sound of high heels coming from the corridor.
“Oh! Sister, why are you injured? Is it serious? Did those physicians take good care of you?” Hedy questioned, with a phony grin and a concerned voice, when the door was opened.
Regina’s heart sunk as the words were spoken. Is it possible that her pregnancy was known?
She stared at Hedy with exploratory eyes. She always felt that she had bad intentions.
“The doctor indicated you have nothing significant other than a soft tissue injury.” Hedy immediately adjusted her tone after noticing her poor expression “Remember that the Miller family remains unsolved. I won’t say yes if you want the Miller family to be as destitute as you are.”
Hedy was terrified because her juvenile face was merciless. “What are you doing?” Regina’s pale fingers grabbed the comforter hard, her voice shaking.
