His pointed brows were slightly lifted, and his tone was dull: “Stay in the old house for real. Don’t try any trickery.”
Regina wrenched free from Mandel’s wrist, and a sense of resentment erupted. Why should she be treated this way? She clearly wanted to treat her mother and start her life over with her.
Why did the Martin family and Mandel refuse to let her go?
“Please, please let me go. The transaction has concluded. I simply want to live the life I desire.”
“After the child is born, you can have nothing to do with the Martin family. But not now.” The forceful remarks were loud, gradually breaking all of Regina’s expectations.
Regina closed her eyes in despair: “I’m just a tool for pregnancy in your eyes, right?”
Mandel’s pupils constricted. When he saw the light in her eyes, his tone softened slightly.
“Stay in the old house and I will take care of you.”
He pushed her shoulders and handed her over to Iris after speaking. He turned around and departed after settling down.
The historic and luxurious mansion was surrounded by a verdant forest and delicate blossoming flowers. However, Regina believed that this was no different than the prison cell that had held her captive for two years.
The sunlight that shined in every day masked a life without freedom.
“Miss Miller, the young master’s servant, has arrived. Please go downstairs and look around.”
Iris gently tapped on the door, bending her head slightly in a courteous manner.
Regina’s gray eyes rolled, and she mumbled, “Check it out? What is its identity?”
“Please go downstairs with me to choose,” Iris said politely.
Regina followed Iris down the escalator because she was intrigued. When she arrived, she noticed more than a dozen maids standing respectfully in the living room of Martin’s former residence.
“What is this?”
Regina was puzzled and did not know Mandel’s intentions.
“Miss Miller, the young master, stated that he would enlist the help of a nanny to look after you. He stated that you would select one that is attractive to the sight and will serve you personally.”
Iris waited with her hands down and motioned for the nannies to raise their heads for Regina to choose.
Regina couldn’t help feeling a headache. He did ask her to live in the old house while he was in the hospital earlier, saying he would arrange for a nanny for her.
He seems to be determined to let her have this child. Regina’s face flushed with embarrassment. Her intuition informed her that if she truly gave birth to this child, her tumultuous relationship with Mandel would become even more complicated in the future.
“Allow them to return! I’m not going to be here for long.” Regina ordered with a scowl on her face, thinking about how to get out of here. Perhaps she could enlist the assistance of Bess…
“Please don’t make me look bad. The Lord indicated that you must choose one that best suits your heart now, or all of us would be forced to go.”
Regina was furious. How arrogant was this guy?
She eventually settled on a girl named Doris. Just as Regina was about to head upstairs to plan her exit from the ancient residence.
When the door opened, more than ten people rushed in. Mandel, the commander, donned a hand-made black suit that accentuated his tall and straight frame by fitting every contour. His face was gorgeous and emotionless, as if no emotion in the world could reach his eyes.
If he hadn’t been so domineering, he would have been dazzlingly handsome.
At the time, the hall had an unpleasant and weird vibe. Mr. Martin didn’t say anything once he sat down.
“What are you doing now? Pack your belongings and go as soon as possible!”
On the second floor, Hannah yelled arrogantly at Regina. Suddenly, dozens of eyes from downstairs focused on Regina.
Regina became enraged after a brief time of embarrassment. Yes, she was in prison, but who put her there?
Who brought her here?
Why should everyone avoid her like the plague?
Regina stormed down from the second floor and was ready to step out toward the gate when her wrist was grabbed.
The man’s fingers were dry and clean, and he possessed reassuring power. Mandel took a step forward of her, protecting Regina behind him. His emotionless voice said, “She was brought back by me, and I have no intention of asking her to leave.”
His calm voice echoed down the hall. It was like sending off a massive layer of waves in an instant.
“What do you mean, Mandel? Don’t you realize she’s your brother’s fiancee?” “What credentials does the woman who ruined Noah’s marriage contract have to remain in our house?” Mr. Martin sneered at Regina.
“That’s correct!” Hannah, with her charming body, sat in front of Mr. Martin and remarked helpfully, “Our family is not a safe haven for all the terrible guys. Return to your origins!”
Regina was enraged by Martin’s family’s objection. Although she was eager to leave this place, it was not in this manner.
A thick and strong figure firmly barred her path. With obvious and unmistakable overbearing authority, Mandel’s voice fell into everyone’s ears.
“I was pretty explicit about it. I want her to stay here, and it has nothing to do with anyone.”
Regina fought valiantly, but only for more rigorous constraint.
“I don’t think there’s any reason to keep discussing.” From start to finish, Mandel’s contracted eyes never gazed at Regina. He asked Iris to return her to her room.
Regina was about to open her mouth to refuse when she met Mandel’s deep, shocked gaze. She had no choice but to swallow the rest of the sentences and follow Iris upstairs in silence.
Behind her and Mandel’s stern tone, there was a faint argument. When all of these were locked out, Regina discovered that some weird emotions had emerged in her heart.
Mandel’s quiet and restrained demeanor, indifferent and arrogant demeanor were intended to make him an enigma. She didn’t know Mandel and didn’t want to find out.
A knock on the door woke up Regina, who had been exhausted and had fallen asleep.
Doris smiled cheerfully as she opened the door: “Dinner is ready, Miss Miller. Madam requested that I instruct you to get down.”
Hannah?
How could she be so kind enough to let Doris come and ask her to dinner? Was it really that easy to eat?
