“Ah!”
Mandel abruptly drew Regina back, forcing her to lean against the chilly wall. Mandel grabbed her chin and yanked her head up.
His eyes gradually approached.
“You must remain by my side, Regina.”
His tone was irresistible.
Albert came in a hurry. Seeing the intimate posture of the two, he felt a little uncomfortable in his heart.
“Please let me go!”
Regina tried to shove Mandel away, but he was as solid as a rock.
“Mr. Martin, Regina is not your personal possession!”
Although his face was warm, his eyes were no longer as tender as they once were.
“Regina? It’s quite nice.”
After hearing his speech, Mandel let go of Regina, and the bottom of his eyes darkened.
“You’re not even fit for Regina!”
Albert’s tone was full of distress and regret. If he meets Regina early…
“Bang!”
Mandel instantly kicked Albert, and the anger that Mandel had been repressing in his heart burst forth.
“I can get you out of here right now, and no one in Los Angeles would hire you.”
The man’s eyes were sharp. His aura was terrifying.
“Mandel! Are you taking too much care of me?”
Regina took a step back and spoke aggressively to the man.
“Why can you meddle in my life? Do you even want to look after my friends? Why do you put innocent people in danger?”
His voice trembled slightly.
“If you don’t come with me right now, he’ll be able to leave this hospital.”
Mandel’s eyes were indifferent, but his tone was threatening.
“Okay, I promise you.”
Regina closed her eyes helplessly, and the bitter smile on her lips.
Albert watched the two to walk away, his eyes filled with resentment.
For the first time, he despised himself for being inept and incapable of protecting her.
In the car.
“Before the child is born, don’t try to escape my sight, and don’t have any other thoughts,” Mandel whispered softly to Regina.
His tone was full of warnings.
“Now I’ll take you back to the old house, and you’ll stay there for the time being. I’ll hire a nanny then.”
“I don’t want to go back to the old house.” Regina refused coldly.
“I’d like to return to my previous flat. I’m not used to living in there.”
She had done it on purpose. She knew Mandel was an expensive person who would not want to be with her in such a tiny and decaying environment.
“Okay, I’ll take you there later.”
Mandel’s eyes were slightly soft, and his lips were slightly lifted.
Regina almost thought she was mistaken, her eyes wide with surprise.
She had only seen Mandel who was indifferent.
She couldn’t believe it, afraid that Mandel’s sweet words would burst at any moment.
At the apartment.
She flipped the switch, and the warm yellow light illuminated the empty room once more.
“You sit down and rest first, then I’ll go check the fridge.”
Mandel’s personality had radically changed. He spoke with a soft tone, and he didn’t even bother to put on a pair of men’s slippers.
Regina was almost stunned. She couldn’t help but ask.
“Can you still cook?”
Mandel didn’t answer her and walked directly into the kitchen.
When she saw the man’s back to her in the kitchen, she realized they were just married couples.
But she knew it wasn’t.
Sarcastically, Regina smiled. Mandel’s ability to stay here was limited to the child in her womb.
“The noodles are done. You can almost taste them.”
Mandel placed a dish of boiling hot noodles on the dinner table.
The noodles were colored beautifully with a little handful of minced green onion. It smelled fantastic and looked delicious.
Regina did not object. She took a sip and abruptly came to a halt.
It tasted almost exactly like what her mother made.
she remembered.
Marina would cook at Green’s house every time she celebrated her birthday, but she would only make a plain bowl of noodles.
Each time, the finger was scarred, but Marina insisted on doing it. So that was the world’s treasure for her.
She hadn’t had one in two years after being jailed.
Now her mother was missing.
Regina couldn’t help but notice her eyes become crimson and her tears refusing to fall.
Mandel stared uncomfortably at Regina “What does it taste like? Do you enjoy it?”
He did, however, notice a thin tear streak on her face.
“Regina, do you dislike it? Should cook again?”
There was a hint of tenderness in the man’s eyes.
“No need.”
Regina was terrified, especially because of Mandel’s tenderness.
It was addictive to her, much like heroin.
She was afraid to touch this tenderness.
Mandel grimaced slightly but did not appear to be impatient.
“This is something I discovered while studying abroad. No one sent me living costs at the time. For a while, I relied on this resistance.”
Regina closed her eyes, her curled and thick eyelashes casting a small shadow like crow feathers, and she cried softly. She didn’t appear to notice Mandel’s voice.
She appeared to exist in her own world, separated from him by a barrier.
“Then I…”
Mandel clenched his fists, a trace of unwillingness flashed across his eyes, but he continued to talk about his affairs abroad.
An hour passed.
In the little space, there was only Mandel’s voice from start to finish, like a one-man show.
“Regina, I know you loathe or even despise me right now. However, your feelings are harmful to the child.”
He had done it with patience for the first time just now, but she didn’t appreciate it. He was easily irritated.
“I won’t do this next time.”
Her voice was clear and cold.
“…”
Mandel’s frown deepened. His fingers withdrew slightly.
His heart felt increasingly agitated, as if a miniature volcano could erupt at any moment.
Suddenly a bell rang.
Regina peered around the corner of the light at him. Perhaps the dude would leave.
When he saw the emotion in her eyes, Mandel couldn’t help but clench his fists, the blue veins on the back of his palm protruding.
Did she simply not want to be with him?
“I still have work to accomplish, so I’ll switch to a video conference.”
When Mandel concluded this sentence, he hung up.
Regina heard the man’s low and compelling voice. She couldn’t stop sarcastically laughing.
Was he trying to keep a better eye on her?
“You don’t have to supervise me like this, Mandel. I’m not going anywhere.”
Regina raised her head and stared at Mandel, but her eyes were flat.
“Are you satisfied? Do you need me to prepare anything else?”
Mandel didn’t seem to notice. Regina didn’t notice the hint of pain in his gaze.
“There is no necessity.”
Regina politely declined. She returned to the room and shut the door tightly.
Mandel raised his hand to knock on the door and slowly lowered it, his eyes gloomy.
He tightened his fists and slammed them on the white wall, slightly bleeding.
