Regina sighed. Her lips were not only covered, but her hands were also clutched.
She couldn’t help but smile when she felt Mandel move back slightly. She switched the light switch and opened the door with the key.
The warm yellow light diffused out, clearly illuminating the narrow space. The room was empty with only simple furniture.
For a brief period, Mandel frowned slightly, astonishment flashing over his gaze.
“Please let me know if you have anything. You are not welcome here.”
Regina looked indifferent.
She did not forget that dazzling picture. They were so compatible, so intimate.
Her heart throbbed faintly.
“Do you want to drive me away like that?”
Mandel furrowed his brows even further, and a glint of wrath flashed in his eyes.
“I haven’t asked you why you’re following me, Mandel. And this is where I live. Of course, I want you to leave.”
Regina’s eyes were filled with disgust.
Mandel’s face got increasingly humiliated. She was the only one who had the audacity to dislike him that much.
He stared at Regina fiercely.
Her complete portrait was immersed in a beautiful tint under the warm golden light. Her eyes were slightly lifted, with a tinge of alluring appeal.
“Be my lover, I can provide you with whatever you desire.”
Her eyes were filled with surprise. She expected the pompous man to be enraged, but he wasn’t.
“I’m not quite that cheap yet. I can’t take it anymore.” Sarcastically, Regina smiled.
He just thought of her as a prostitute.
“This is the second time you have rejected me!”
The man’s face was downcast, and he grasped Regina’s chin, forcing her to raise her head.
The man’s face was downcast, and he grasped Regina’s chin, forcing her to raise her head.
“You already have a fiancée, Mandel. Why are you still looking for me, a woman who has been in prison? Could it be that you like me?”
If Mandel really felt good about her, maybe she could tell him about the baby.
This child was in need of a father.
Mandel exhaled a sigh of relief and returned to normalcy.
“The Martin family would never marry a lady as filthy as you. Put it out of your mind.”
For a moment.
These comments hit Regina like a bucket of freezing water. She was shivering from the cold.
“Even if I’m pregnant with your child?”
There was a faint trembling in her voice.
“Knock it off, you’re not qualified to have my child.” The man squinted his eyes and looked down at her flat abdomen. “Don’t use the child to threaten me.”
His thoughts were blank, and his eyes were bitter. He sarcastically laughed.
“Even if all men perish, I will not like you. I despise you to the core!”
The man’s look was embarrassing, and his entire body dripped apathy.
But he turned to leave.
Regina clenched her teeth, took out her phone, and dialed a succession of numbers, saying, “Doctor Thompson, I’ve already considered getting an abortion.”
She appeared to use all of her strength after saying this. With reluctance, she sat against the wall, massaging her flat stomach.
Downstairs.
Regina put on her clothes and walked out. Soon, a BMW drove over.
Albert got out of the car and asked, “Regina, have you thought about it yet?”
Regina did not respond to his query and instead asked directly, “Dr. Thompson, can you promptly abort the kid for me if I go straight to the hospital?”
She was afraid that she would regret it.
“Yes.”
Albert’s brow furrowed even more, yet he continued to speak about his responsibilities as a doctor.
They were being followed by a sedan. No one noticed the car since it was so low-profile.
The license plate of the car was difficult to see, and the lines of the car were exceedingly smooth. He could just make out the man sitting in the car.
Mandel did not leave.
The man tightened his grip on the steering wheel and watched the white automobile shadow fade away.
His face was gloomy, and his eyes were the color of a deep sea.
The sun sets westward.
Regina looked out the car window. The scenery outside is fleeting like a movie played backwards.
Her fingers couldn’t help but touch her flat abdomen, and the feelings at the bottom of her eyes were complex and intermingled.
“Regina, as a friend, I wanted to ask you. Do you intend to have an abortion?”
Albert’s voice was warm and comfortable to hear.
Regina remained silent, her hand on her stomach.
Her thick eyelashes concealed her emotions. He could only see her slender shoulders.
“Your body is still healing. If you get an abortion right now, it will be harmful to your health.”
Albert felt more and more distressed.
Regina remained silent, as though lost in her own universe.
“Regina, have you made up your mind yet? I can send you back right away…”
“No, I’ve given it some thought. This child is unable to stay.”
Her voice shook slightly. Her eyes were filled with pain and reluctance, which was quite startling.
His heart ached, even more deeply than the previous time.
“Would you like to tell me about yourself as a friend, Regina?”
Albert’s voice was distressed.
“I was falsely accused and imprisoned for two years, and I had to find my adversary’s son and suffer disgrace because of my mother, and now this child is his.”
Regina’s tone was bland, yet she couldn’t stop fist-clenching.
In his eyes, there was a heavy anger and a fleeting grief.
She was not only humiliated by her enemy’s son, but she was also pregnant with his child.
How everything appeared to be a divine deception. She resembled a clown.
Regina smiled serenely.
Albert scowled slightly, and his heart beat faster “I comprehend. It is entirely up to you to make your decision, and I will respect all of your options.”
In the hospital.
Albert used his influence to help Regina schedule an appointment ahead of time and accompany her to the gynecological department.
Regina lay back in the frigid chair, watching as people came and went. There were both young students and adults seated beside her.
“Don’t overthink it. I’ll join you here.”
The phone in Albert’s pocket suddenly vibrated as he finished speaking. He replied with an apologetic smile to Regina.
His expression became increasingly serious as the call progressed.
“Is there something going on? Hurry up, I can do it on my own.”
Regina smiled gently.
“Then I’ll go over there right away. During an operation, one of the attending doctors was unexpectedly unable to arrive. I apologize for having to rush over there.”
After Albert finished speaking, he hurried over.
At this time.
Only Regina remained on the chair. Her ears were filled with the sounds of others speaking, comforting, or sobbing, yet she seemed to be isolated by a wall.
A young woman emerged unexpectedly. Her stomach grew somewhat larger as she stared at the man who had been waiting at the door.
“I considered it, but I still do not want to have an abortion. It is a life after all.”
The words struck Regina’s ears and were tossed into her heart like a pebble, generating a little ripple.
The young couple walked farther and farther, looking intimate.
Regina couldn’t stop herself from touching her still-unswollen abdomen. She bit her lower lip, and her eyes were little hesitant.
Was she actually planning on having an abortion?
She had mixed feelings in her heart.
“Next, Regina!”
