Regina ignored the mild discomfort in her heart caused by this layer of identification.
“What do you want from me, Cecily?”
She chose a simple wrap-around gown that was both lovely and moving. “Sister, I have something to talk with you,” she said politely.
“I don’t really know you, and I’m not accessible.”
Regina refused coldly.
Cecily’s eyes glowed with wrath, yet she smiled gracefully.
“It has something to do with my fiancé, Mandel.”
She purposefully emphasized the word ” fiancé,” as if she were bragging.
At the cafe.
Two people were seated near the window. The table was already set with coffee, which had an intriguing bitter aroma.
Regina fixed her gaze on the woman in front of her. She was savoring the coffee beautifully and carefully at the time. Each of her moves was very appealing.
“I’m in a rush. Please, Miss Green, speak as soon as possible.”
Cecily remained silent. Putting down her coffee, she fixed her gaze on Regina, “Please leave Mandel. He belongs to me.”
“I’ve never been with him before.”
Regina snorted.
“How dare you pretend you have no feelings for him?”
Cecily, however, questioned.
After hearing this.
For a little while, Regina was stiff.
“I am not interested in him. I couldn’t possible like him if all the males in the world were dead.”
She lifted her coffee and took a little sip, as if she was concealing something.
“I don’t think so. Mrs. Martin informed me that you and him had already made love. You must not think about him or I will not spare you.”
Cecily’s tone was full of ruthlessness.
She knew very well that Mandel was a cold and unemotional man.
Even though he was already legally bound to her by a marriage contract, she was apprehensive.
She once attempted to make out with him when drunk, but Mandel would rather go to the cold water than touch her.
But he touched this woman many times.
As a result, she was dissatisfied. Where did she fall short of this woman?
“Don’t worry, he wouldn’t appreciate a jailed woman like me.”
Regina laughed mockingly. A trace of grief surfaced under her eyes.
“Hmph, he’s not going to enjoy a woman who’s been in jail. However, you may be required to leave Los Angeles.”
Cecily looked very mighty.
“Impossible.”
Regina refused without hesitation.
How could she leave here when she hadn’t found her mother yet?
“I’m going to give you five million bucks as long as you leave the city and never return.”
Cecily scowled slightly. A hint of frustration visible beneath her eyes.
“No, my mum has gone missing. I need to find her.”
Regina refused again.
“Regina! You simply do not wish to leave Mandel! This is the second time you’ve turned me down. No one has ever attempted to treat me in this manner!”
Regina’s two refusals had become purposeful in Cecily’s eyes.
“I’m not interested in Mandel. All I want is to find my mum. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be the first to depart.”
Regina stood up and did not see the viciousness that flashed under Cecily’s eyes.
“How dare you refuse me.”
Cecily snatched the coffee and hurled it at Regina.
“Ah!”
Regina remained silent. Her left arm was nearly entirely coffee-stained, and her exposed skin was a stunning redness.
“Don’t blame me for not being polite since you dare to steal my fiancé.”
Cecily smiled contentedly, but her tone was harsh.
“Snap!”
The sound of slapping sounded in the air!
“How dare you hit me?” Cecily’s intellect was blank, and her deep eyes were filled with bewilderment.
But she abruptly stopped speaking when she noticed a familiar person in front of the coffee shop.
She lowered her gaze to conceal her own viciousness.
“I not only dare to hit you, but I dare to hit you again!”
Regina extended her hand. Her wrist suddenly seemed imprisoned by a pair of pincers and hurt terribly before the slap.
“What are you doing?”
The man’s cold voice sounded in her ears.
She had to raise her head to meet the man’s dismal, enraged gaze.
She couldn’t help but be terrified. Coolness pervaded her from the head to her feet.
“What would you, a terrible lady, have done to Cecily if I hadn’t arrived in time?”
Mandel’s eyes glowed with disgust. He abruptly shrugged off Regina.
“Don’t blame her, Mandel. I know I shouldn’t feel envious. It was my fault for being very envious of her, and she deserved to attack me.”
Cecily wrapped her arms around Mandel’s arm. Her thick eyelashes dangled with crystal tears, attracting sympathy.
“Cecily, you’re far too simple and sweet. How is she comparable to my fiancée?”
Mandel comforted Cecily by hugging her shoulders several times.
This moves pained Regina’s eyes like silver needles punctured her eyeballs.
Yes, they were a perfect match.
She was just a woman who had been in prison.
Regina cynically laughed. She crept up from the dirt, her stomach covered, oblivious to the odd gaze surrounding her.
She left here silently.
“Mandel, can you accompany me to the hospital?” Cecily asked softly, accidently touching the wound on her face.
“No, I have something else I need to get done later.”
Mandel replied coldly, staring at the thin figure not far away through the window like a wolf.
Cecily clenched her teeth, unable to do anything but watch Mandel depart the coffee shop.
She felt bitterness in her heart.
From beginning to end, he paid no attention to, let alone worried about, the wound on her face.
In the alley.
Because sunlight couldn’t get in for many years, the walls were covered in moss. It was damp and dark here, making it difficult to see the stones on the ground.
Regina took a step forward and noticed a dim gaze staring back at her.
She looked back but found no one there.
Only her footsteps were heard.
Regina couldn’t help but feel agitated. She sped up, but the hot glare clung to her back like glue.
After half an hour.
Regina finally crossed this alley. She exhaled a sigh of relief when she saw the sun.
She looked back to find that there was still no one there.
It was difficult for her to see the stairs because the lights at the entryway had not been restored. Regina went cautiously, but once again felt that intense and familiar gaze.
Regina got goosebumps all over when she heard sluggish footsteps behind her. She only wanted to open the door and go inside.
A pair of large hands suddenly covered her mouth as she took out the key. The delicate perfume aroma remaining on the tip of her nose was familiar.
“Are you, um, Mandel?” Regina inquired, cautiously.
“Open the door.”
His voice was low and enticing. Regina could practically feel his breath because they were so close.
Her ears were itchy.
She felt a tiny sense of security in her heart as she felt the strong chest behind the man.
“How can I open the door if you don’t let me go?”
