Albert rushed in and shouted angrily.
He pushed Caroline away with one hand and noticed that Regina’s white bandage was oozing blood.
Her lips were all chewed and her face was pallid. Her brow was drenched in sweat beading.
“Are you alright? Later, I’ll have someone re-bandage it for you.”
Albert’s eyes blazed with sadness, and he touched the red button next to him.
“Who the hell are you? Why are you treating a patient like this?”
He turned to face Caroline and inquired. His tone seemed detached, despite his gentle brows.
Caroline looked slightly stiff and smiled awkwardly.
“Of course, I’m a member of her family. I merely wanted to see if her arm was wrapped.”
“Don’t be a moron. I have the authority to evict you simply because you are currently mistreating my patients. Please go as soon as possible.”
His tone was irresistible.
“How dare you speak to me like that?” Caroline’s attitude was concerned, and her eyes were filled with rage.
“Please leave promptly so as not to disturb the patient’s sleep.” Although Albert appeared kind and elegant, his attitude was harsh.
“Excellent. Don’t be regretful, Regina!”
Caroline sneered, then went out of the room in high heels.
“Thank you for helping me once again.”
Regina said gratefully.
“It’s okay, this is what the doctor should do. But the one just now…”
Albert wanted to say something, but then stopped.
“That was my stepmother.”
Regina simply stated.
“Okay, then get some rest and call me if you need anything.”
He finished and left the place.
After three weeks.
Regina was already able to get out of bed and move around. She wanted to get out of the hospital and see her mother as soon as possible, so she planned to go to Albert and inquire about the details.
She put on her slippers and walked out of the ward. Her hair had fallen free, covering her face.
Several different voices came to her ears.
“Have you heard that Dr. Thompson already has a favorite? It’s Regina, the patient.”
“But I’ve heard Regina has been imprisoned for two years. She wouldn’t have killed someone and broken the law, would she?”
“Regina may have seduced Dr. Thompson, I believe. After all, can someone who has served time in prison be a nice person?”
These gossips fell on her ears.
Regina laughed mockingly. Who could like someone who had been in jail?
“What are you talking about here during work hours when you should be working?”
A gentle voice rang out with a strong warning.
“I’m sorry, Dr. Thompson…”
Several nurses were frightened, and they dared not say anything else.
“Don’t do that next time.”
Several nurses listened gratefully and quickly departed the room.
“Why didn’t you just explain it to them, Dr. Thompson? But they weren’t mistaken. I served two years in prison.”
Regina’s smile appeared careless.
Albert smirked slightly “I’m not bothered. Because I’m already acquainted with you.”
Regina was stunned for an instant.
“Thank you, Dr. Thompson.” Regina smiled brightly once more.
Regina returned to the ward and took out her cell phone to send a text message over.
Caroline soon followed in her high heels, and her voice was audible across the ward.
“It seems you’ve figured it out.”
Caroline smugly smiled. Even if Regina was tossing and turning, she was still giving in to her.
“Did you spread rumors about my being in jail?”
Regina asked directly.
“Yes, what’s wrong?” Caroline responded simply.
“Because such is the case, you will be given a lesson.” Regina had scarcely finished speaking when she raised her palm and slapped Caroline hard.
The sound was extraordinarily loud.
Caroline’s face was still fixed with a smile. As she caressed her face, the bottom of her eyes was filled with incredulity.
“How dare you hit me, Regina?”
She was about to hit back when her body was roughly shoved aside after she finished speaking. She stumbled to the ground.
“What is your name? How dare you to belittle Sister Miller?” Bess’s hands were clasped around her waist. Her lovely eyes twinkled.
“You…”
Caroline was in a state of distress. She was about to curse back when she noticed Bess’s expression. She had a tight smile on her face.
“So, there is Miss Martin. I’m Caroline, the Miller family’s madam.”
“I’m not familiar with you. Just get out of here.”
After saying that, Bess tightened her fist and threatened Caroline.
Caroline could only wriggle unwillingly out of the place.
“Are you all OK, Sister Miller? But you hit her so majestically just now.”
Bess’s bright eyes looked at Regina adoringly.
“Nothing, only a few strengths and skills I picked up in prison,” Regina’s face was pale, and she smiled grudgingly. “How did you get here?”
“Because a man named Albert called and stated you were in an automobile accident. But, because I’m still abroad, I’m just now making my way over. It’s great that you’re all right.”
Bess examined Regina thoroughly. Her solemn expression touched Regina’s heart slightly.
Unlike the Martins, she was a ray of sunlight.
“Bess, may I make a request?”
Regina was forced to beg her. Marina was her last recourse and her last family in this world.
“I will help you as much as I can.”
Bess gripped Regina’s hands tightly and smiled sweetly.
“My mother has gone missing. I’d like to ask you to assist me in finding her. Please remember that she is the only family I have left in this world.”
Regina was dressed in a light blue and white striped ward. Her shoulders were so slender that she looked like she’d tumble to the ground with the wind.
“Don’t be concerned. It is not a major issue. I’ll assist you in locating her. Why don’t you come out with me now that the weather is so nice?”
Regina nodded her head in agreement.
The sun was shining brightly.
In the car.
A beam of sunlight brushed on Regina’s exposed skin, warming it. Her disposition appeared to be much better.
A bell rung unexpectedly.
Bess answered the phone, grimaced, and hung up.
“Sister Miller, I need to come over to work for something. Let me first send you back home.” Bess apologized with a flutter of her eyelids.
“No, my residence is not far away. It’s probably for the best that I go for a walk.”
“We’ll make a date the next time.” Bess pulled up in front and rushed away in her white BMW, exhaust fumes billowing.
When Regina just wanted to turn around and leave.
“Wait a minute.”
Her voice was sweet, mingled with the sound of high heels on the floor tiles.
It was Cecily.
Mandel’s fiancée.
