“I’ll figure something out but now I need to know what’s going on.” Strider not saying a word left the room and exited the building.
“I need you to go somewhere safe for now.” She finally agreed to follow his order. Taken by a mere guard, Gemini was taken to a hidden room where she was to wait. Time passed and luckily she had her phone. Her phone rang viewing an unknown number.
“Hello?” Gemini asked as she heard strange noises in the background.
“I don’t believe we’ve talked before.” The voice said on the other side of the phone.
“Name?”
“Not important. Guess you really blinded the mighty alpha.” There was a short laugh.
“Who is this?!” Gemini raised her voice.
“I could say you were the perfect distraction or is it a weapon?” Another laugh followed. Gemini remained silent this time trying to progress what was happening.
“You really are a wonder, surviving the impossible and healing at such a rate.”
“What do you want from me?”
“I want everything! Your so-called husband ruined my life and left me to rot now we will see who takes the final bow and only a true king would be revealed!” The sudden change of tone gave Gemini shivers.
“It wasn’t easy for me to be the center child and I declared war on my other brothers. Layton is smart he will figure it out.” The call ended and Gemini was confused. She felt uneasy and informed Layton of the issue.
Going through the call Layton got confused.
“This is useless Sir! Just another useless call!” Strider yelled.
“He said I was smart and that I would figure it out.” Layton thought even deeper. Layton knew the message meant something but he didn’t know what. Center child, final bow, true king, war, other brothers. These are what run in Layton’s mind then it hit him.
“Strider the map now!” Strider handed the map to Layton and he used his knowledge tracing over the map. Layton came to a halt.
“Found something?” Layton nodded.
“The message wasn’t as useless, he was telling me something. A country once fought against its neighboring countries for power, it was said to be the middle-sized land from the others. Three statues were built but only one could be named king and even after their defeat they refused to take their bow.” Layton stated at Strider hoping he knew what he meant.
“Charles territory.” Strider gasped.
“He’s there and he wants me to go there too.”
“But why would one go there.” Layton bit his lip.
Layton walked with speed towards his room as he quickly got dressed.
“Am coming too Lay.” Gemini stood by the door with confidence.
“No your not, you already got attacked I can’t let that happen to you again.” He walked through the hall and to the living room.
“Get a car ready. We’re leaving today.” Layton told Strider.
“I said am going too.” Layton angrily turned to Gemini.
“No is a no Gem! Why won’t you listen!”
“He said I should meet him so I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t go.” Strider walked in.
“We’re ready to take off sir.” His eyes turned to Gemini.
“I personally think it’s best for her to tag along besides he did seek for her.” Layton thought for a while, he didn’t want to lose her this time.
“All right but you will stay by my side.” Gemini nodded. Since she was had fully prepared, they immediately left the compound.
They all sat patiently in the car.
“You must have a hell lot of enemies,” Gemini said in a much serious tone and Layton couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not.
“Yeah, but I got used to it. Friends turn against me even family members. You just have to fight past it.” Surprisingly Gemini accepted remembering her mother.
“I now know how that feels but I guess I do have to defend myself.” Layton smiled brightly at his wife.
“Good, your one step closer to being an incredible leader.” Gemini felt excited herself.
“Out of a thousand more that is.” Layton corrected but that didn’t change Gemini’s excitement.
“You know I was terribly affected when I heard of your attack.” He finally spoke up failing to keep it. Gemini sighed then smiled.
“The important thing is that am still alive.”
“It still scares me though and I just learned to love again.” Gemini felt like tearing. His words were sharp as blades and they indeed penetrate her heart.
“Again am sorry I hid the pregnancy.” Layton closed his eyes just to open them again.
“It’s okay, the damage has been done but I will not forgive so easily. Whoever did this will set an example for the rest.” Gemini was worried that her mother’s life would be at stake.
“You left the hospital that night. Where did you go and who did you go to?” He avoided eye contact with her. She was silent as words failed to leave her mouth.
“Gem we’re not in a pretty position right now so you better tell me everything you know. Besides, why are you protecting this individual.” She shook. She knew they were in a bad position and honesty was needed but she was afraid.
“You surviving that attack isn’t the only thing that’s surprising.” Gemini got a little irritated.
“So you didn’t expect me to survive!”
