“You know well that wolf wouldn’t survive that…. but you did.” Gemini’s anger was again replaced by fear.
“Who is it?” The atmosphere around her grew cold. Layton studied her reactions.
“Alright I’ll put it this way, I won’t hurt them at all. I just want to know who it is.” Gemini gulped as the air stung her lungs but she knew what was best.
“My mother.” Layton froze greatly as disbelief filled him.
“Y-your mother?!” He stuttered as he felt somehow betrayed.
“You told your mother died!!” Layton’s anger grew making Gemini shiver.
“Well, she didn’t. She wasn’t in support of our marriage.”
“Then why did you keep it from me?” Gemini didn’t want to tell her husband the truth.
“I thought you would kill her.” Layton’s temper eased.
“She attacked you…why?”
“Am not really sure myself.” The veins appeared on Layton’s forehead again.
“You just let her live even after she attacked you! Thought you said you finally understand!!” He yelled.
She didn’t respond. Layton still never understood his wife. There was an incredible silence for minutes.
“I care about you and you should know that. All this stuff I do is the cause of experience, I don’t want you to go through what I went through.”
“I know but it’s just hard for me to do it. She has always cared for me and I just can’t do what tour asking me.” Layton nodded.
“My mother did nothing but torture me mentally, I thought she cared and loved for me but I never knew she was killing me slowly.” Gemini still never understood his mother’s life or past but she knew it wasn’t a good time to ask.
“You remind me of my childhood friend. She was kind and loving like you.” Layton played with his fingers.
“What happened to her?” Gemini asked as she felt the discomfort in his eyes.
“She passed, got killed.” Gemini laid her Jane on his shoulder.
“You’ve been through a lot.” Gemini now understood where Layton’s cruelty came from.
“I have but I never regret what I ever did. I won’t be a victim of pain anymore.” The cars suddenly stopped and the door swung open.
“What’s going on? “Layton asked Strider a little worried.
“You need to see this sir.” Layton turned to Gemini.
“I’ll be back do not get down.” He commanded and Gemini nodded remembering her promise. Layton got down. He followed Strider to a pair of policemen by the road.
“Problem?” He asked the policemen.
“Well you can’t cross, there’s an accident up ahead it will be impossible for you to cross.” One of the policemen pointed.
“Everything’s okay?” Strider asked.
“Yeah, no one got hurt. Looks like the wind blew the trees down.” Layton sighed. He felt a sharp pain in his waist area and couldn’t help but flinch.
“Should have waited till you healed sir, what will happen when they attack?” Strider was deeply worried about Layton’s health. He knew if he were to fight he would get terribly injured or even killed.
“This won’t stop me from defending my pack.” Strider gasped at the alpha’s dedication.
“I thought you only did this for your protection.” Layton chuckled.
“Then what kind of alpha would I be Antony.”
“I told you I don’t like being called that,” Strider growled.
“You think Strider is better?! Took Stride and placed an r at the end.”
“It’s better than Antony. That name carries a lot of burdens. Changing my name could be better.”
They approached their destination and Layton felt somehow afraid. A feeling he had never felt for a long time. He smirked. He did miss such emotions. The place was deserted and crushed, bodies were scattered all around. The scene gave Layton chills.
“Stay behind me.” He instructed Gemini and she did as he said.
“You actually came well I didn’t think you wouldn’t anyway.” An unknown figure emerged from the darkness. Layton had never seen nor met the man but something about him was terribly familiar. The man laughed.
“Don’t you recognize me? I always thought you were smart.” Layton raised a brow.
“Am I supposed to know you?”
“Why wouldn’t you. After all, we are related.” His voice again was strongly familiar.
“Jones died, I heard the news and saw his body.” He laughed.
“Of course you did.”
“Never heard of it?” Strider was shocked deeply. He unlike the rest had heard of it, a ritual that could enable one to change their vessel.
“That’s not possible…. that hasn’t been carried out for years.” He raised his brow.
“Why did you attack her? You were targeting me, weren’t you? Then why did you attack her?” He stepped a couple of steps towards us.
“She was an experiment and I needed to know.” Layton felt his blood boil.
“You almost killed her for your stupid experiment!” Jones shrugged as he placed his hand in his pocket.
“But she’s still alive, isn’t she? Besides I needed one that could survive the impossible. Just imagine being immune to silver, I would be supreme.” He grinned.
“If you love your life, you will hand her on to me and I might just spare you.” Layton laughed hearing how silly the offer was.
