Chapter 52

Book:Alpha's Desire Published:2024-5-1

“You have to leave now! They are on their way here and they will kill you if they find you.” Gemini was the confusing bit she knew she had to listen to her mother. Before she disappeared she gave her mom a huge hug.
“Please be careful, I love you.” The woman kissed her daughter’s forehead.
“I love you. Run and don’t stop running.” Gemini ran through the door and into the streets. Meanwhile, Layton had searched the places for her.
Time passed quickly with yet no answer from the main attacker. Layton had never had such a challenge.
“I never thought Jones would go this far with things,” Layton yelled feeling himself have a headache. Gemini joined the meeting with the rest of the members. The rest also agreed. Hunter stood up and presented his case in front of the alpha.
“So you can’t trace them at all?” Hunter signed and shook his head.
“There have been traces all over the country, I just don’t know where exactly they are sir.”
“I sent Strider out for some research, he should be back by now.” As those words have spoken the door swung open. Strider walked in with several men including Dakota.
“News?” The alpha asked to hope for the better.
“Terrible news sir, Jones is no more.” There were whispers across the table and Layton was as shocked. He was completely speechless, the one suspect in his mind turned out to be his last enemy.
“What do you mean exactly?” Layton stumbled. Gemini felt the sudden fear and shock in Layton which worried her deeply.
Layton’s phone rang and buzzed and it annoyed him. The number was however unknown
“Hello, who is this?” Layton asked as he heard a chuckle from the other side.
“Long time no see Layton.” Shivers run down Layton’s spine as he recognized the voice.
“Again who is this?!” Layton’s raised voice attracted some of the member’s attention.
“How could you forget your dear friend. I met your wife she is really kind, heard she also survived what a shame though.” Layton still tried to trace the voice but couldn’t.
“So you sent your little friend over, he was truly annoying even for you I guess but no need to worry.” Layton banged the table once he realized who he was talking about.
“You killed him,” Layton said in a very low voice knowing what had happened. Francis did say he would go and investigate the issue for him.
“He wasn’t as smart and I am disappointed in you too. How could you be so careless but you have gotten weak so am not surprised.” The phone call ended. Layton was still left speechless, the voice was as similar to Jones.
“Am calling this meeting off for now.” They got up and left leaving Hunter, Strider, Gemini, and Layton in the room.
“You seem troubled sir is everything alright?” Hazel had noticed the expression on Layton’s face earlier.
“I can’t hide the truth anyway. I received a phone call from an unknown number but a voice similar to Jones. I have never been this confused in my life.” Strider thought heavily, he had a slight idea of what was really happening.
“Sir I hope I can be allowed to run a few investigations?” Layton saw no reason to refuse him.
“Of course but is there a problem?”
“No sir.” Layton gave him permission to do so. Strider had set off.
“I will run and record your phone calls so maybe I could find something out of it.” Layton nodded leaving him and Gemini in the room.
“Are you okay?” Gemini asked to hope to comfort her husband.
“I’m honestly not, I just do not know what’s going on. I mostly am concerned about your safety.” Gemini bit her lip.
“Again You don’t have to worry about my safety.” Layton sighed.
Later Strider barged in causing Layton to shiver.
“Sir we have terrible news.” Strider sat close to the alpha.
“What news is there?” He laid the map before him.
“I ran a few investigations and it looks like we should have paid a lot of attention to the other clans.” Layton raised a brow, feeling a little impatient.
“What do you exactly mean?”
“To put it, straight sir, the clans are no more. The west, east, and South have all disappeared.” Strider pointed at the map. Strider was however disappointed at the alpha’s carelessness.
“Sir, you told me you had this covered!” Strider yelled angrily at the alpha and Layton knew he had the right to be angry with him. Layton was speechless.
“Sir! I specifically asked if I could deal with the problem myself but you told me otherwise! It is so strange how women manipulate men!” Gemini feeling offended walked up to Strider.
“I played no role in this so please don’t make me the cause of your predicaments!” Strider folded his arms as he shook his head in disappointment.
“Tsk tsk. You are the problem! Not only were you careless but you caused us more problems.”
“Oh please spare me all this!! I never wanted to be here anyway!!” Anger filled the room, Gemini could only feel pure anger.
“What will we do now. I don’t know where they went or what happened.” Strider turned his body to Layton, this time he spoke in a soft, calm voice. Layton thought to himself.
“I want all members checked, this individual wouldn’t have known of my location on their own.” Strider got the message.
“Someone provided them with the information.” Layton nodded.
